Chapter 1010: Female Student
Chapter 1010: Female Student
Ling Feng nodded: "I understand, thank you for your effort!"
"It’s our duty."
Deng Xian said, taking steps toward the deeper parts of the campus.
The school covered a vast area, with green trees providing shade everywhere, and many pavilions and towers were built, making it feel like entering a large park.
If not for occasionally seeing teaching buildings, laboratories, libraries, and the like, Ling Feng would really think he was in a park.
Having walked more than a thousand meters, Deng Xian pointed to a forest ahead and said, "It’s right there."
"Alright, thank you, Mr. Deng. If you have other matters, please go ahead. Leave the rest to me!" Ling Feng said.
"Okay, then I’ll go back first. If Mr. Ling needs any help, feel free to call me anytime. Your phone is encrypted, so don’t worry about information leakage."
"Got it, thanks!"
Ling Feng nodded, waved goodbye to Deng Xian, and then turned and walked toward the forest.
Before he got close, a clamor of voices came from the woods.
Ling Feng frowned slightly and stepped into the forest, only to discover dozens of young men and women inside.
From their appearance, it was obvious they were students from this university. The group was wandering around the forest with cellphones in hand, filming something, and laughing and chatting as if participating in a social activity.
When Ling Feng got closer, he overheard from these students that they were looking for a meteorite!
Meteorites from Beyond the Heavens are now very valuable collectibles; finding one could fetch a high price. If not for the school’s closed management, people from society would come in to search as well.
Ling Feng learned this from the students’ conversations, and he smiled helplessly.
Deng Xian and the others had already searched once, yet these kids still wanted to find something left behind?
After smiling, Ling Feng ignored them, continued walking forward, and opened his Divine Sense at the same time.
The entire forest’s scene entered Ling Feng’s mind - every grass and tree was seen in minute detail.
After a brief scan, Ling Feng suddenly felt that there was an unusual energy field in a specific location, so he walked towards that area.
Among the dozens of students, a girl glanced at Ling Feng, and seeing that he didn’t speak upon entering the woods and instead looked around before heading deeper into the forest, a hint of puzzlement flashed in her eyes.
As Ling Feng’s figure disappeared into the woods, she quickly followed.
Ling Feng did not notice this girl, and after walking a few dozen meters ahead, he crouched down on a patch of grass.
In front of him was grass about to turn yellow, but he could clearly feel that within this square meter area, there was a particularly unique energy field.
It was neither Spiritual Energy nor Evil Qi, but a unique energy field that Ling Feng had never encountered before.
"Student, what are you doing?"
As Ling Feng pondered, a crisp voice came from behind him.
Turning around, he saw a strange girl in jeans and a white shirt, holding a cellphone in her hand.
"Are you filming me?" Ling Feng asked.
"No, I’ve turned off the recording function!"
The girl said, and to prove her point, she deliberately tucked the phone into the pocket of her jeans.
Ling Feng responded with an "Oh" and didn’t pay her any more attention, turning his head to look at the grass again and picked two blades to put into his Space Bracelet.
The girl was very curious and came over to continue asking, "Hey, what department are you from?"
"Uh..."
Ling Feng paused for a moment, thinking to himself, do I really look that young? To be mistaken for a student?
But he didn’t correct her, thinking that it was better this way, a secret investigation didn’t require the other party to know his identity.
So he smiled, not giving a direct answer, and instead asked, "And you? Which department are you from?"
"I’m from the English department, my name is Chen Yan, what’s your name?" the girl asked straightforwardly.
"Ling Feng. I am, uh, from the Physical Education department!" Ling Feng hurriedly made up an excuse, seeing that it would be impolite not to respond as the girl was looking at him.
Chen Yan acknowledged with an ’oh,’ then asked, "Everyone is looking for something at the site where the fireball landed, how come you ended up here?"
"I enjoy peace and quiet, and it was too noisy there, so I came inside to have a look," he replied.
Ling Feng smiled and then asked, "By the way, why did you come here?"
"I thought you seemed a bit odd, so curiosity got the better of me and I followed you here. Sorry about that!" Chen Yan said, sticking out her tongue.
She looked quite charming in that moment, and given her beauty and youthful vigor, typical of a female college student, Ling Feng didn’t take it to heart: "No worries, everyone’s the same, driven by curiosity!"
"Yeah, the incident last night was so weird, I can’t help but wonder if aliens have come to Earth!" Chen Yan said.
Ling Feng chuckled, glanced at a few wild grasses on the ground, his mind suddenly stirred, turned back to her and asked, "Why would you think that?"
"Think about it. Such a huge fireball fell to the ground, but there was nothing left behind. It must be some kind of superhero from space, or a superpower user or something. How else could there be no trace left?" Chen Yan argued sincerely.
"Your imagination is quite rich!"
Ling Feng commented with a laugh and then added, "Maybe you’ve watched too many sci-fi movies!"
"You don’t believe it?"
Chen Yan was taken aback, then asked, "Then let me ask you, if it was a meteorite, why was there no trace left behind?"
"If it was a gaseous meteorite, it could’ve dispersed immediately upon hitting the ground, that’s possible!" Ling Feng stated.
Chen Yan nodded, "That’s possible, but it’s unlikely that a gaseous meteorite could rub against the air and generate such a huge fireball, right?"
"Perhaps it was a flammable gas?" Ling Feng asked with a smile.
"Well, even if what you say is true, it still doesn’t explain such a large fireball, yet the trees in this forest were unaffected - not even the leaves were scorched. How could that be?" Chen Yan continued to press.
Ling Feng nodded, "You’re not wrong, but I’ve heard there’s a kind of flame that looks very bright, yet its actual temperature isn’t high, not even reaching two hundred degrees. Such temperatures can’t ignite wood."
"..."
Chen Yan, not quite satisfied with his counter, put her hands on her hips and glared, "Hey, are you just arguing for the sake of it? Why must you negate my speculation? Are you trying to hide something?"
Ling Feng, thinking to himself how sharp the girl was, replied with a smile, "No, you’re overthinking it. I was just following your line of thought and then found it a bit illogical, that’s all!"
"Hmph, you’re just arguing with me!"
Chen Yan rolled her eyes and walked away.
Ling Feng shook his head helplessly, thinking she was the one who insisted on arguing, it’s not like I begged her to come over here!
Looking back at the few patches of grass that had a different color from the surroundings and the circular trace that looked like two footprints, Ling Feng squinted, "Maybe the girl is right, perhaps someone did come from the sky!"
