Chapter 567 567: 567
"FUCK!" he roared as his voice thundered through the sanctuary, and the violent surge of his aura sent tremors across the fractured domain while the cracks spread even further like veins across broken glass.
His breathing grew heavier with each passing second, and his eyes sharpened with unrestrained fury as his grip tightened to the point that the air around his hand distorted.
"They ran…" he muttered under his breath, yet the quietness of his words only made the anger within them more dangerous.
He turned sharply toward Steampunk, and the movement carried a clear intent that needed no explanation.
"I am stepping out, and I will hunt them down," he said, his tone cold and absolute as he prepared to move.
However, just as he was about to take that step a gentle voice echoed through the chaos, yet it carried a weight that forced everything to pause.
"You can't."
Kael stopped mid-motion, and his expression hardened instantly as he turned toward the source of that voice.
A figure stood there calmly.
It was Lyara, the Elf Goddess.
She stepped forward slowly, and despite the destruction around them, her presence remained composed and steady as if she stood outside the influence of chaos itself.
"If you go out now, the universe will collapse," she said, and her voice, though soft, carried undeniable certainty.
Kael frowned, and irritation flickered across his face as he looked at her.
"What do you mean?" he asked, his tone edged with impatience.
"The universe has just lost many gods, and with so many pillars gone, it is already in a destabilized state while countless outer gods will soon set their sights on us," Lyara replied, her gaze unwavering.
Kael let out a quiet snort, and his frustration only deepened.
"I will go out and hunt them down regardless," he said, and the stubbornness in his voice made it clear that he had no intention of backing down.
"You can," Lyara said, and her tone remained calm, "but how many of them do you think you can face alone?"
She looked directly into his eyes, and her next words carried a deeper weight.
"Have you forgotten that even universes have tiers, and ours stands among the lowest of them?"
Kael paused, and although his anger did not disappear, something more complicated surfaced in his expression as he glanced briefly toward Steampunk.
Steampunk finally spoke, and his mechanical voice carried a rare seriousness.
"Kael, you need to stop and listen to her, because this is not something you can solve through force alone."
Kael's expression darkened further, and irritation turned into open hostility.
"Listen my ass," he snapped, and his voice rose sharply. "What the fuck do you think they were doing while they caused catastrophe and joined hands with other gods?"
He stepped forward, and the ground beneath him cracked slightly under the pressure of his aura.
"I am certain that those outer gods have already found a path to us because of this chaos," he added, and his tone carried grim certainty.
Lyara let out a soft sigh, yet she did not react to his anger.
"We might be wrong, but you need to understand this," she said, and her voice grew slightly heavier.
"The reason we allowed the Great Demonic War to continue was because a vast number of outer existences had already locked onto this universe, and we needed time to grow stronger."
Her gaze lowered briefly, as if recalling a burden she could not forget.
"It was then that your Human God proposed gathering the power of faith through war, and although we knew the risks, we accepted it because without that decision, the world would have perished much earlier."
She paused, and a trace of regret surfaced in her expression.
"However, things went far beyond what we anticipated, and what was meant to strengthen us turned into uncontrolled madness while we could neither intervene directly nor remain idle without risking the collapse of everything."
She lifted her gaze again and looked straight at Kael.
"That was when I used my divine power to predict fate, because we needed a path forward."
Steampunk frowned slightly, and curiosity mixed with unease appeared in his mechanical eyes.
"What did you see?" he asked.
Lyara's voice lowered, and the atmosphere around them seemed to grow heavier.
"I saw a multiverse catastrophe."
Both Kael and Steampunk reacted instantly, and shock flashed across their faces.
"What?" they said almost at the same time, unable to hide their disbelief.
"Soon, there will be a multiverse-level event where countless universes will clash in a desperate struggle for survival, and amidst that destruction, many heroes will rise," Lyara continued, her tone steady despite the gravity of her words.
She paused briefly, and then her eyes shifted as space itself began to distort.
"And among them, I saw three individuals who shone brighter than the rest."
As she spoke, the world around them changed abruptly, and chaos unfolded in every direction while three figures emerged within it.
One of them radiated a deep green aura, and behind him, countless glowing fragments transformed into monstrous plant entities that stretched endlessly as if forming an army of living growth.
Another figure stood cloaked in golden light mixed with crimson intent, and in his hand rested a massive sword that seemed capable of severing anything that stood before it.
The last figure he radiated pure killing intent, and his mere presence caused the chaotic space itself to tremble as if it could not withstand him.
Kael's heart tightened unexpectedly, and his gaze locked onto that final figure.
"That person…" he said slowly, and disbelief crept into his voice, "isn't that me?"
"Yes," Lyara replied as she stepped forward, and her eyes remained fixed on him. "That is what I saw."
She held his gaze, and her next words carried both weight and uncertainty.
"This is only a possibility, and there is a ninety-nine percent chance that it will never come to pass, but for that remaining one percent… we chose to place our trust in you."
Kael remained silent, and the tension in his expression deepened.
Lyara continued without hesitation.
"Do you truly believe that killing the God of Time and allowing you to reincarnate under their watch was something that happened so easily?"
At those words, Steampunk's eyes widened as realization dawned upon him.
"No wonder…" he murmured, and his voice carried a mix of shock and understanding. "No wonder we succeeded…"
He paused briefly before speaking again.
"I have always wondered why the Gods did not descend to interfere when Christina ascended, and now it finally makes sense."
Lyara nodded slightly.
"Yes, because we were holding them back while subtly guiding events from behind the scenes."
Her words settled into the silence, and for a moment, none of them spoke.
Kael stood still, yet instead of relief, a heavy bitterness rose within him.
"All along… I have been nothing more than a puppet in your hands…" he said, and although his voice was low, it carried a weight that could not be ignored.
Lyara did not deny it, and she stepped closer without hesitation.
"You were a pawn once, but you have already moved beyond that role, and now you stand as someone who can shape his own fate," she said calmly. "That alone holds meaning."
Kael did not respond immediately, and his gaze remained fixed on her as if searching for something beyond her words.
Lyara moved past him, and her attention shifted toward the fractured space where faint traces of Light and Darkness divinity lingered near the cracks, yet she ignored them completely.
Instead, her hand reached toward a different presence.
A greenish orb floated quietly.
The divinity of Creation.
It pulsed softly, and unlike everything else around them, it carried a sense of stability.
Lyara grasped it gently, and as her fingers closed around it, a soft glow spread outward, calming the surrounding chaos ever so slightly.
"This," she said, and her tone turned firm, "will be the key to shaping what comes next."
She turned back toward Kael.
"And Leonard, it is now your responsibility to oversee this."
Kael frowned, and frustration surfaced again.
"What exactly do you expect me to do?" he asked.
Lyara answered without delay.
"You must merge with the universe and become the pillar that sustains it, and only then can we prevent immediate collapse."
Kael narrowed his eyes slightly.
"And while doing that, I will fall into a semi-unconscious state, won't I?" he asked.
"Yes," Lyara replied, "but it will not be permanent."
Silence followed, and the weight of the decision settled over everything.
Kael looked around slowly, taking in the shattered sanctuary, the spreading cracks, and the fragile structure of divinity that seemed ready to break at any moment.
He exhaled slowly, and his voice softened just a little.
"I have waited long enough already, and it seems I will have to wait even longer," he said, and although there was no complaint in his tone, there was a quiet acceptance.
His gaze lowered briefly, and something gentler passed through his expression.
"But if the end brings satisfaction, and if I can stand beside those I care about again, then all of this will be worth it."saying this he took a step and his body shot out through space leaving a streak.
