Chapter 542
Chapter 542
For a moment she did not know what to say.
Kael watched her quietly.
Then his teasing smile softened a little.
His voice dropped slightly.
"You know," he murmured.
"You are very bad at hiding your feelings."
Lyria’s heart began to beat faster.
She kept her gaze lowered and whispered quietly.
"It’s nothing important."
Kael did not immediately reply.
Instead he slowly loosened his arms from around her shoulders and stepped slightly to the side.
Then he leaned against the nearby wall and folded his arms.
His eyes remained fixed on her.
"Hmm."
The faint smile returned to his face.
"Now that makes me even more curious."
The rain outside struck the window harder for a moment as thunder rolled across the sky. A brief flash of lightning illuminated the room and then faded again, leaving only the soft lamp beside the bed casting its warm light.
Lyria kept her eyes lowered.
Her fingers gently adjusted the blanket around Elfie so the little dragon girl would not wake. Elfie shifted slightly and pressed her face closer into Lyria’s chest, and her tiny horns brushed softly against the fabric.
Kael watched the small movement quietly. He then carefully grabbed Elfie and caressed her.
Even though she was his daughter in name, this feeling of parenthood was quite unique.
Something that really fills his heart. He then placed her gently over the bed.
Then his gaze returned to Lyria.
"You know," he said slowly, "people usually hide something when they say ’nothing’ like that."
Lyria tried to remain calm.
"I really wasn’t thinking about anything important," she said softly.
Her voice sounded steady, but the faint tension in her shoulders betrayed her.
Kael noticed it immediately.
He pushed himself away from the wall and walked a few steps closer. His boots made quiet sounds against the wooden floor.
"You were talking to yourself," he added casually.
Lyria blinked.
"I was?"
Kael nodded slightly.
"You said someone was getting further and further away."
Lyria froze again.
For a moment she looked like someone caught doing something she should not have done.
Kael tilted his head slightly while watching her expression.
"So," he said calmly, "who is getting further away?"
The room grew quiet.
The only sound came from the rain tapping steadily against the window.
Lyria slowly lowered her gaze again.
"...You."
The word slipped out before she could stop it.
The moment she said it, her face turned even warmer.
Kael did not speak immediately.
Instead he looked at her carefully.
"Me?" he asked.
Lyria nodded faintly.
"You have become someone the whole world fears," she said quietly.
"You are a Demi-God now."
She paused for a moment.
"The sky itself shook when you revealed your power."
Her voice lowered further.
"And I..."
She hesitated.
"...I am still just your maid."
The words sounded heavier than she expected.
Kael watched her silently.
Lyria continued speaking before she could lose the courage.
"You are standing at the top of the world now," she said softly.
"And I am still standing where I always was."
She smiled faintly, though the smile carried sadness.
"So it feels like... you are getting further and further away."
The room fell silent again.
Kael stared at her for several seconds.
Then he suddenly stepped forward.
Before Lyria could react, his hand gently tapped her forehead.
"Idiot."
The word came out lightly.
Lyria blinked in surprise and looked up at him.
Kael shook his head.
"You think too much."
His expression looked calm, but there was something softer in his eyes now.
"I became stronger," he said.
"But that does not suddenly erase the people who were already standing beside me."
He gestured lightly toward Elfie.
"You helped raise that little troublemaker."
Lyria glanced down at the sleeping dragon girl.
Elfie’s small tail flicked again as if reacting to the conversation even in her sleep.
Kael continued speaking.
"Also you were the maid who took care of the master quite well."
He leaned slightly closer.
"And you are still here now."
His voice was quiet but steady.
"So how exactly did I move away?"
Lyria opened her mouth but could not answer.
Kael gave a faint smile.
"You really are bad at hiding what you feel."
Lyria looked away again, embarrassed.
"I did not mean to say it out loud."
Kael chuckled softly.
"Well, I am glad you did."
He looked at her for another moment before speaking again.
"And for the record..."
His tone carried a hint of teasing again.
"You are not ’just a maid.’"
He glanced toward Elfie.
"In that little dragon’s head, you are already half a mother."
Lyria’s eyes widened slightly.
"Since she already thinks of you as my wife, how can I let you go, my lovely maid.."
As he said this, Kael suddenly leaned forward and kissed Lyria on the lips.
The sudden action startled her badly.
Her eyes widened in complete shock.
For a moment she stood there without even realizing what had just happened.
Her mind became blank.
She could feel the warmth of his lips against hers and the gentle pressure of his hand holding the side of her face.
Everything around her seemed to disappear.
The sound of rain outside, the soft lamp light, and even the quiet room all faded into the background.
Her heart began pounding loudly in her chest.
Her finger trembled slightly as she grabbed the hem of her dress.
When Kael slowly pulled back, Lyria still stood frozen.
Her breathing became uneven.
Her lips trembled slightly.
Did he really just kiss her?
Her thoughts felt confused and overwhelmed.
Then suddenly tears began sliding down her eyes.
They rolled slowly down her cheeks.
Kael immediately noticed.
His expression softened.
"Lyria..." he said quietly.
He gently raised his hand and wiped the tears from her face with his thumb.
His touch was careful and warm.
But before he could say anything else, Lyria suddenly grabbed the front of his shirt.
Then she pulled him forward.
And kissed him.
This time she was the one who started it.
Her lips pressed against his with surprising force.
Kael’s eyes widened slightly from the sudden reaction.
But Lyria did not stop.
Demons may be shy but once they confront their feelings they always do it boldly.
They have always been taught to do what their heart desires. The demoness did not shy away and she did not hold back.
All the emotions she had kept buried for so long burst out at once.
Her hands clutched his collar tightly while she pushed herself closer to him.
The kiss quickly became deeper and more intense.
Kael responded almost immediately.
One of his hands moved gently around her waist while the other carefully caressed her hair.
Their breathing slowly grew heavier.
Lyria’s heart pounded loudly while her mind felt dizzy from the closeness.
She even tried to dominate him.
Whenever Kael slightly tried to pull back, Lyria followed him and pressed forward again as if refusing to let him escape.
Her fingers tightened on his shirt.
Her lips moved more boldly against his.
Kael’s eyes narrowed slightly with surprise and quiet amusement.
The kiss slowly turned into a silent battle between them.
Neither of them wanted to step back.
Their foreheads almost touched before their lips met again. The warmth between them grew stronger.
The two of them moved closer and closer as the tension between them continued rising.
Just as the moment was about to reach its peak, a small sleepy voice suddenly spoke.
"Daddy... What are you doing?"
Both Kael and Lyria froze instantly.
Their eyes widened.
Slowly they both looked down.
Elfie had woken up.
The little dragon girl was staring at them with sleepy eyes while rubbing one of them with her tiny hand. Her small tail flicked slightly behind her in confusion.
"Daddy, are you playing with Mama..Elfie wants to play too."
’Holyshit..’
