Chapter 94: A honest talk
As Ethan left the office, his cock still throbbing from the tight grip of Elena’s handjob, he sighed.
He had even forgotten to offer her the green fairy wine, leaving the bottle next to the sofa.
Shaking his head, he recalled her words.
Elena’s idea was common on the continent, following the same development plan she had used when reorganizing the chaotic infrastructure of the imperial capital of the Fallen Sun Empire, over twelve thousand years ago.
At its core, it followed a ring model.
The central ring, the first of all, was the city’s political and administrative core, as well as the residence of its leaders. Occupied by the high nobility and high-ranking civil servants, it was the heart of everything.
The second ring, surrounding the central one, would be residential and economic, with guilds, hotels, corporations, and housing for both the upper and middle classes.
The third ring was industrial, agricultural, and military, connected directly to the walls and serving both as a working area and as a buffer zone in case the outer defenses were breached.
Each ring was sealed off by gates and its own walls, making the segmented, layered defense much more solid.
Obviously, Elena hadn’t gotten very far, since she’d had little time to work on it.
She still needed to plan the infrastructure, conduct a more detailed survey of the local geography, and, of course, figure out how all of that would be put into practice.
In the end, even a child could come up with a brilliant urban development plan. Putting it into practice efficiently, especially with resources as limited as Goldenveil’s, was a completely different story.
Shaking his head, he stepped into the bathroom, where Evelyn and Alice were bathing together.
With both of them in his arms, Ethan washed himself as well, and shortly after, found himself in his bedroom, with Alice clinging to him.
Having already shown Elena the room, now it was just the two of them.
She was naked and exhausted, clinging to Ethan as if he were everything in her life.
Well, it wasn’t wrong to say that. At least in her eyes, Ethan was all she had.
"Evelyn told me your mother was very powerful... Will I ever be able to match her?" Alice asked, her voice sleepy.
"Hm..." Ethan thought for a moment, his fingers sliding through her golden hair. "Your talent is probably on par with my mother’s."
He paused briefly. "Most of Goldenveil’s original population came from the Darkwall family lands, didn’t they? Did you come from there too?"
He realized he had never asked Alice about her family beyond her parents.
"I have a cousin there, and a few uncles, but I don’t remember them very well. It’s been too long." Alice sighed.
"Do you miss them?"
"Not at all... My cousin was, well... A bitch." Alice chuckled.
"And my uncles loved to humiliate my father for not becoming a successful merchant and choosing to stay with my mother.
In the end, it was because of them that he decided to bet everything on this expedition to Goldenveil."
Ethan didn’t answer right away, his eyes closed.
It must have been hard for Alice, still a child, to make that journey and face so many dangers with only her father and mother by her side.
"Why don’t you tell me about your family now? Your father, your brothers... and your mother." Alice leaned toward Ethan.
"Honestly? I don’t have much to say about them." Ethan paused for a moment. "My father isn’t a bad man; he’s just... strict. A military noble, as some call him. He values steel and war, not comfort or jewels."
He continued, his voice lower. "My brothers desperately try to be like him, and my mother... she’s too good for him, if I’m being honest."
"Your mother sounds amazing..."
"In a land where everyone despised me, she was the only one who always looked at me with love. Only love, and nothing else."
’Just as every mother should be.’ Alice flashed a tender smile at those words.
Her right hand drifted down to her own womb and she blushed.
Not yet, but as soon as she reached the third stage, she would be ready to give Goldenveil an heir. A young lord worthy of bearing his father’s surname.
With a soft sigh, she closed her eyes and let sleep carry her away.
They were both too tired for anything beyond that, so she simply enjoyed his warmth, all to herself, that night.
The next morning, Ethan woke up early, with Alice’s weight still upon him.
His hands moved over her wide hips, down her delicate waist, and finally cupped one of her large, pale breasts.
