Chapter 92: Instant Construction

Chapter 92: Instant Construction

"Your mom..."

"What?"

"Did she throw you away? You can let you call me mommy if you want, I know how hard it is to be abandoned by your own mother..."

Ethan froze for a moment.

He knew Evelyn was just joking, being a little toxic in her own peculiar way, but the seriousness with which she said it drew a genuine laugh from his lips.

"It was my dad who threw me out, not my mom. As soon as she finds out what happened, she’ll probably castrate the old man."

"Oh... I see."

"Yeah, in that case, you’d better call me Daddy." Ethan joked, not really expecting Evelyn to run with it.

To his surprise, she flashed a dirty grin immediately, her normally mature voice shifting into a high-pitched, honeyed purr.

"Hm... does Daddy want me to break his hips with the bounces of my huge, juicy ass?♡"

She gave her hips an obscene little wiggle, punctuated by a small, provocative hop.

The motion sent her luscious cheeks rippling in slow, heavy waves, the plush flesh bouncing, soft despite their firmness.

She paused for a moment, took one look at the expression plastered across Ethan’s face, and burst out laughing.

"Hahaha, Gods, you should see your own face, hahaha!"

Evelyn clutched her stomach as she tried to rein in her laughter.

She patted Ethan on the shoulder before turning to leave, heading up toward the bathroom.

"I’m going to take a shower with Alice. Tonight is all hers, but tomorrow we start training early."

Left alone at last, Ethan simply sighed in defeat.

’I wonder what Elena is doing...’

He shook his head and made his way to the storeroom of the lord’s mansion, grabbing one of the two remaining bottles of green fairy wine.

It would take a few months for old John to prepare another batch, since resources for production were fairly scarce, and with the recent attacks, they were in no position to go searching for more.

So Ethan decided to make good use of those last two bottles.

Welcoming his newly summoned heroine was, without a doubt, a more than worthy occasion.

As he climbed the stairs toward the office, Ethan scanned the list of skills from the golden lord’s ring that he could choose from.

The thirty skills were divided into six categories: Authority, such as the lord’s aura; Management, such as resource vision; Military; Social; Development; and a catch-all category for skills that didn’t fit neatly into any of the others.

Rank levels varied widely as well, with options ranging all the way from Rank B up to Rank S, but their value, even the more modest ones, was difficult to compare fairly.

It was almost unfair to pit them against each other directly, since each carried greater or lesser weight depending entirely on the current situation.

For Goldenveil, which desperately needed decent urban development for its rapidly growing population, development skills would likely be the most impactful, though Ethan still found himself somewhat undecided.

He seriously considered just picking a Rank S ability that sounded cool, but after a moment’s reflection, he changed his mind.

His eyes settled on a development skill, only Rank A, but clearly absurd in what it offered.

[Name: Instant Construction

Description: Once per month, allows for the construction of up to one structure and the improvement or expansion of up to two others. Scales with the host’s title and can be built in any area up to two thousand kilometers from the border of any controlled territory.

The cost of each construction is calculated in gold.

Rank: A]

He was certain Elena would love a skill like this, especially since she was, at heart, a master of urban development.

But that wasn’t the only reason he chose it. He chose it because it was the most broken skill on the entire list.

To build a new wall, for example, he would need only gold, not months or years of labor depending on the size and materials.

The same applied to countless other essential infrastructures.

And what if he were marching with his army against an enemy?

While the opponent scrambled to throw up hasty fortifications, he could raise an entire fortress wherever he saw fit.

Using only gold as a resource was already valuable in itself, and the logistical edge it provided was simply staggering.

To top it all off, the number of structures he could erect per month scaled directly with his noble title.

It was hard for Ethan to look past something this powerful, especially since he already possessed resource vision, which would pair perfectly with an ability capable of instantly producing all the infrastructure needed to extract those resources.

In the end, Ethan made his choice, and another skill was added to his golden ring.

The moment he activated it, a system notification appeared.

[You have used the golden ring’s ability: "Instant Construction"

Structures can be upgraded by tapping them and selecting the desired upgrade. If you wish to build a new structure, choose from the categories below.]

An extensive list of categories unfolded before him, spanning everything from medical to military structures, each with options ranging from Rank F all the way to Rank SSS, some costing dozens of gold coins, others demanding millions.

There were even walls with arrays for protection and increased Mana and Aura density already built in, though a single glance at those price tags was enough to make Ethan shudder.

Well, at least now there would be a fitting use for all the gold he couldn’t inject directly into Goldenveil’s economy.

With an eager look in his eyes, Ethan pushed open the office door, his clear blue gaze meeting Elena’s calm brown one.

She was seated at his desk, pieces of paper scattered around her, drawing with focus.

"Oh... you’re back." She rose with unhurried grace, her gaze drifting to the blood still staining Ethan’s robes. "How was the fight, dear?"

He hadn’t removed his armor yet, and he looked every bit like a wreck.

"It could have been worse. We didn’t have many casualties."

"I can see that." Elena rose slowly, one hand resting lazily against the generous curve of her huge tits as she made her way toward him.

With a light spell, she washed all the grime and dried blood from Ethan’s body, though she did nothing for the exhaustion visibly weighing on his shoulders.

"Shouldn’t you rest a little before coming to check on this old woman?" Elena purred softly, her hands moving as she elegantly drew Ethan’s head in against her chest, offering his face a warm, huge pair of pillows to rest.
