The Gods’ Gacha Game: Return of the God-King

Chapter 136: The Power of the Meteorite Spear

Chapter 136: The Power of the Meteorite Spear

I continued training my magic for a while longer, experimenting with forming defensive structures like icy shields and barriers through the combination of Weapon Manifestation and Cryo Magic. Thanks to my experience of forming icy blades before, I was able to achieve some success.

Basic Cryo Magic has leveled up.

Weapon Manifestation has leveled up.

Your Mind has increased by 1.

Your Magic Power has increased by 1.

Not bad at all.

Satisfied with my progress, I dispelled the ice constructs. My mana reserves were running low, my limbs felt heavy, and sweat clung to my skin—clear signs that I’d pushed myself hard enough for today. It was time to call it a day and save the real test for tomorrow by redoing the eighth scenario.

With that in mind, I left the training center and headed back to the inn. First thing in the morning, I should visit the Genesis Order to replenish my plausibility reserves before anything else…

However, to my surprise, I saw Michelle standing just outside the training hall’s entrance, as if she’d been waiting there for some time, causing me to pause mid-step. Why would she wait here? Did it have something to do with her previous nightmare?

“Maxim.” Her eyes lit up the moment she spotted me.

“You’re here?” I asked, walking closer.

She nodded, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Mm. I thought you’d still be training, so… I waited.”

That was unexpected. Michelle wasn’t the type to linger around unless she had a reason.

“Is something wrong?”

She shook her head quickly. “No, nothing like that. Actually…” She hesitated for a beat, then straightened her posture a little. “I was thinking… Since we haven’t really sat down for a proper meal together—just the two of us—lately, would you like to have dinner with me? My treat.”

Dinner? On her? That came out of nowhere, but she looked earnest—not flustered, just calm and sincere, like she had decided this beforehand.

“Oh? You mean eating outside the inn?” I raised a brow. “Did something happen?”

She looked away for a moment, her gaze lifting toward the darkened sky. “Not really. I just wanted to thank you for the encouragement you gave me after that nightmare. I still see the dream occasionally… but I’m not as worried anymore. I also haven’t thanked you properly for all the help and advice you have given me ever since the first scenario. And there’s maybe… some other things.”

“Other things?”

She puffed her cheeks for half a second, barely long enough to notice, before smoothing her expression again. “Just come. Let me treat you for once.”

I let out a small breath. After an entire day of intensive training, I wasn’t exactly opposed to a proper meal that wasn’t from one of Tuilë’s back-alley food stalls… or a chaotic dinner where Boris devoured half the menu. Oftentimes, the five of us ate together as a group—breakfast before entering scenarios or dinner afterward.

“Alright,” I said. “Lead the way.”

Michelle smiled gently, warm and subtly relieved, her presence somehow brighter than moments earlier. “Great. I found a place that should still be open. Let’s go before it gets crowded.”

And just like that, we headed down the street together, the evening breeze brushing past as the lights of Fantasia flickered awake.

***

The next morning came sooner than expected.

After a quick breakfast with Boris and Michelle, I told them I had a small errand to take care of before heading to the Rift of Scenario. As usual, I didn’t tell them the specifics, but they were already used to me slipping off to handle “other things.” Naturally, my destination was the Genesis Order headquarters in District F.

By the time I arrived, the alley was livelier than ever. The total number of followers had reached a staggering one hundred. Rex truly had a knack for scouting and convincing stray divine warriors to join, and what surprised me more was that some had joined despite not being desperate like the earlier ones. The name of the Genesis Order had clearly spread far and wide, at least in the lower districts.

I didn’t have time for a sermon, so I headed straight into the prayer room and placed my hands on the two statues, activating my signature skill to convert the contained faith into plausibility.

You have activated Absorb Plausibility.

You have absorbed the power of faith contained in the statue.

You have gained 283 Plausibility.

You have absorbed the power of faith contained in the statue.

You have gained 220 Plausibility.

“Ooh. In just two days, there’s this much plausibility,” I mused delightfully.

With that done, I slipped out of the hall and made my way back to the Rift Square. All four of them were already there, chatting casually while waiting for me.

“Ah, finally! The royal heir graces us with his presence,” Boris announced, arms spread wide. “Thought you got kidnapped on the way.”

The other giggled at Boris’s comment.

“Ha, you must be joking,” I replied with a chuckle. “Anyway, let’s get this scenario over with.”

Tuilë’s eyes sparkled. “Finally gonna try out the spear?”

“Yeah. I’ll be giving you a satisfying review of it after this scenario.”

“Good, good. Then let’s go!”

With that, we lined up before the Rift of Scenario. It didn’t take long before Elysia greeted us with her usual serene smile, confirming our entry with a graceful nod before activating the portal.

We stepped through it just like we had done a dozen times before. A blast of wind swept across us as the barren badlands once again replaced our surroundings.

And as soon as we emerged on the other side, a familiar blue screen flashed before me:

Scenario #8 [Gnoll Infestation]

I took out Tuilë’s reforged spear and gripped it tightly.

Meteorite Spear

Grade: Epic

Type: Magic Spear

A spear reforged from the original Resolute Spear using condensed meteorite alloy by an exceptionally talented blacksmith. Its star-metal composition grants it exceptional sharpness, weightless handling, and the ability to channel cosmic impact through its strikes. The weapon resonates with its wielder’s momentum, growing deadlier the longer it remains in motion.

Durability: 225/225Grants +20 Strength, +10 Stamina, and +25 DexterityEach consecutive strike increases attack speed by 15% (stacks up to 150%).Can unleash a special skill: [Falling Star], costing energy and mana on activation.[Falling Star]: Channel the spear’s built-up momentum into a single thrust that releases a condensed meteor-impact force. Deals massive physical and magic hybrid damage in a straight line and stuns enemies.

It felt lighter than steel yet stronger than any known metal. Balanced perfectly, as though it had been forged specifically for my grip. Even without swinging, I could sense the dormant power coursing through the weapon.

The sensation lasted only a moment before our peace was shattered. From the ridge, dust plumed as a pack of gnoll riders burst into view, wolves snarling beneath them. Ten? Twenty? No—almost thirty, and just like the last time we challenged this scenario, they ambushed us with immediate hostility. Their sharp, high-pitched laughter echoed as they charged downhill, weapons raised.

“Riders!” Michelle warned, already drawing her bow.

“Looks like they’re eager for a round two,” Boris cracked his knuckles.

Lucian conjured orbs of mana. Tuilë loaded her hand cannon.

“I’ll take the vanguard. Let’s see what this spear can do.” I hoisted the spear above my shoulder and dashed forward, meeting the gnolls head-on.

The first gnoll lunged at me, and I thrust the Meteorite Spear straight through its skull; the spearhead burst out the other side cleanly, barely losing momentum. The balance was immaculate. Before the creature could even yelp, I twisted the shaft and ripped it free with a sharp flick. The residual force tore open its torso as it collapsed.

More riders charged at me. I swept the spear in a wide arc—its light frame let me wield it as though it were an extension of my arm. The strike shattered several wolves’ legs, sending them crashing down; one rider was flung off entirely. Before the gnoll even hit the dirt, I stepped in and drove the spear downward, skewering its chest cleanly.

You have hunted [Gnoll Rider Lv.81].

You have gained 1,410 EXP.

You have leveled up.

Intermediate Spearmanship has leveled up.

“Damn, this spear’s so good!” I exclaimed in surprise.

Boris roared behind me, barreling straight through a pair of gnolls with nothing but brute force, sending bodies flying like ragdolls. Michelle’s arrows whistled overhead, each shot detonating upon impact and scattering riders in fiery explosions. Tuilë’s exploding rounds thundered across the wasteland, knocking wolves off their paws and flipping riders through the air. Lucian unleashed chains of lightning that jumped from one beast to another, frying them mid-sprint.

The eighth scenario that had once been a breeze now felt like outright child’s play. We’d grown far too strong for anything here to pose a real threat.

Five riders charged at me at full speed, howling with bloodlust. I lowered my stance, planting my back foot firmly against the dirt as I gripped the spear with both hands.

“Alright… let’s test this properly.”

The Meteorite Spear vibrated faintly in my palms, as if eager to be unleashed. I drew in a sharp breath and channeled my energy and mana into the weapon.

“Falling Star.”

The skill activated instantly. The spear’s tip flared—no, ignited—with compressed force, a dense knot of power forming at the point. It didn’t glow brightly, but rather condensed into a heavy, crushing pressure that warped the air around it, as though gravity were collapsing inward.

Then I thrust, and a shockwave blasted forward, the force projecting outward like a meteor crashing into Earth. The air trembled and rippled as a compressed column of impact shot ahead of me in a straight line.

The first rider, along with its mount, was obliterated instantly—their bodies vanished in a cloud of gore. The second and third riders were blown off their mounts as if hit by a battering ram the size of a house, bones snapping audibly. The fourth wolf collapsed mid-gallop as the projection struck the ground beneath it, the resulting crater swallowing both beast and rider. The fifth gnoll was hurled a dozen meters straight up, spinning helplessly before plummeting back down with a spine-snapping thud.

As the shockwave faded, dust drifted slowly in the air, stark proof of the spear’s overwhelming might. Although the drain on both energy and mana was no joke, the destruction it unleashed was even more outrageous.

As expected of an epic-grade weapon. Its power alone could easily turn the tide of a battle.

“This is exactly what I wanted.”
