Chapter 79: Warning
Chapter 79: Warning
"Are you going back home? We can give you a ride. Besides, won’t it be a good idea to tell your mother about it? Or maybe you have told your mother already?" Ellia asked.
"That will be..." Auric wanted to agree. If Ellia were to be there, it might be easier to convince his mother.
There weren’t any classes, so he was free for the week.
It would be better to spend his time focused on increasing his energy while mastering his techniques.
However, the plan changed before he could even reply to her. He suddenly received a message from Maya.
"I’ve received a text from the old man, Dexter. Apparently, his grandson, Axel, has brought the gravity battle techniques. He is waiting for you on campus. Are you on campus now?"
That was right. He had a deal with Axel. He had been waiting for this gravity element.
Although telling his mother was important, he could still talk to her alone. The gravity element was much more important.
"Sorry, I’m going back to campus right now." Auric waved, rejecting her offer.
Ellia paused for a moment before saying, "That’s fine as well. Want to go together? I also need to apply for leave, so let’s go together. At this time, the campus entrance should be quite empty, so we can go through the main gate."
Auric contemplated. On the one hand, it wouldn’t be a good idea to be found riding in a car with Ellia. On the other hand, it wouldn’t matter if he was seen by Axel, considering he came from another city.
So, Auric accepted. "Sure. That works as well."
"Great. Let’s go then." Ellia signaled Arina to start the car.
Arina just shrugged and walked outside, then started the car at the entrance.
Meanwhile, Ellia spoke while waiting. "No matter how confident I am in keeping you alive, don’t treat this trip lightly. If you go outside with that kind of thought, you will end up dead pretty soon."
"I know that." Auric nodded. He still remembered clearly how his plane was attacked in the middle of the trip.
He was expecting that kind of danger to occur constantly, so he wouldn’t let his guard down.
"And don’t forget to bring spare clothes. We don’t know what will happen, so bring some extra."
"I have always meant to ask you this." Auric raised one finger. "When you are in danger, what is the first thing you need to do?"
"Hmm?" Ellia tilted her head in confusion. "Isn’t that kind of obvious? There is only one plan. When they approach, you run... away!"
Auric shook his head. "No, what I mean is what you would do when escaping is not an option?"
Ellia crossed her arms. "That depends on the situation. If you encounter a beast one rank higher than you, what do you do? There is still a chance to beat it and turn things around. However, it will be different if you have to protect someone.
"In that case, you probably send that person away first or create as many distractions as possible while escaping. Escape is always an option. What you can’t escape is what happens after you run away. You have to see your decision through to the very end."
Auric didn’t expect it would become slightly philosophical, but he got a good idea of her. "All right, then."
It only took a few minutes before they reached the campus gate. As the text said, Axel seemed to be waiting right by the gate.
"Miss. There is an unusual visitor this time," informed Arina.
"Who?"
"Axel Aheron."
"You mean Aheron as in the big player in the weapon industry?" Ellia raised her eyebrows.
"Yeah. That’s the guy. From what I’ve heard, he was supposed to be assassinated. He didn’t die, but he suffered massive injuries. His family has been searching for ways to cure him. It looks like he’s already healthy now. Is he coming for you?" Arina asked.
Ellia frowned. She thought the situation would be troublesome.
Before they continued their conversation further, Auric interjected. "He’s coming for me."
"Eh?" Arina widened her eyes. "Now that I think about it, you also asked us to drop you off at the entrance."
Ellia glanced at Auric first before turning to Axel. The reason then appeared in her mind. "Oh! You were the one who healed his injury?"
Auric gave the answer in the form of a smile. He opened the door while saying, "In any case, thanks for the ride."
Auric immediately exited the car and walked around it before waving his hand.
Axel noticed Auric and immediately approached him before glancing at the car he had been in a moment ago.
"Hello. I hope you are doing well." Axel smiled and extended his hand.
Auric nodded and shook his hand. "Yeah. It looks like you are doing well too. Any complications with your recovery?"
"Everything is fine, thanks to you."
"I’m glad then." Auric smiled.
"Do you have any relationship with that devil child?" Axel couldn’t contain his curiosity.
"Devil child?" Auric was confused.
"Ellia Stroph Astler. The devil child of the Astler family. Don’t you know her? You just came out of her car."
"No, I know her, but I don’t know who the devil child is."
"Really?" Axel was dumbfounded before his expression turned grim. He walked to the car and knocked on the window, forcing them to roll it down.
"What do you want?" Ellia frowned.
"What do I want? I should be asking you that question. What do you want from him? He doesn’t even know your title. I don’t plan to let you take advantage of my life saver." Axel’s voice was stern.
Auric was completely clueless about what was going on.
"There is simply no reason. I am unlike all of you who like to flaunt every little thing you have. Even a baby can show off the toy it likes." Ellia made a gesture of holding something and shaking it as if she were shaking a baby toy.
"Yeah, but you are different, Devil Child." Axel shook his head. "You are already well-known for your shady business practices. I’m just worried that my life saver’s store will be disrupted by you. Just to let you know, if you bother him, my family is ready to cut off contact with you."
"What is going on?" Auric couldn’t contain himself anymore.
Axel pointed at Ellia. "This woman has crushed several companies by any means necessary. I’m just worried that your store will be next since she has gotten close to you. As for our relationship, it’s just a business relationship. Her family often comes to mine to get weapons. Actually, if you want a weapon, you can just tell me about it."
"I don’t like you ruining my reputation like that." Ellia’s expression turned cold. "I have no intention of doing anything bad to him."
"Well, I’m just warning him." Axel shrugged.
"..." Auric was speechless.
"Yeah, yeah. Warn him as you like." Ellia sighed. "I don’t do that kind of stuff unless you do it first. Besides, it looks like your condition has improved, same as your mouth."
"Thanks to him." Axel scoffed.
Ellia shrugged. "The assassin should have used more potent poison and shut your mouth forever."
"I will take that as a compliment." Axel smiled.
"So, you are here just to provoke me?" Ellia asked.
"Of course not. You should be the one moving along. You’ve driven him here, so why are you still here?"
Ellia thought for a moment before saying with a sly smile, "I was about to drive him home until he received a text. It must have been from you."
"Drive him home..." Axel’s jaw dropped. He turned to Auric with a pale face and grabbed Auric’s shoulders. "No. Don’t do it. I warn you. People think that this woman has it all. Well, I can agree to a certain extent."
"Make up your mind." Auric smiled wryly.
"I mean, yes, she is beautiful, wealthy, and strong. But there is one thing that this woman doesn’t have—limits."
"Isn’t that a compliment?" Auric was even more confused.
"No. What I mean is that she has no limits to what she will do. You just don’t know how cruel she can become."
"That’s enough!" Ellia glared at him, her voice containing a trace of killing intent. "I have tolerated you enough. Or do you really want to start a war now?"
"See? Don’t choose her. Pick someone else." Axel warned him as if he were running for his life.
Auric chuckled. "She was just about to drive me home because we were supposed to go on a mission. Nothing else."
"Eh? That’s it?" Axel looked back.
Ellia snorted.
"Anyway, are you done? Warning is fine, but don’t take it too far." Auric waved, treating it as no big deal.
"Y-Yeah." Axel nodded, speechless. "Right? I should have given you this first. My family has managed to grab several battle techniques."
Auric received the bag and took a peek. "This is heavy. How many battle techniques have you gathered..."
"Just eight."
Auric was startled. He asked for battle techniques, but he didn’t expect Axel to prepare eight for him.
"That’s a lot. Thank you so much." Auric was thrilled. He might not use all of them, but one or two battle techniques would definitely be useful.
"Battle techniques?" Ellia frowned. She couldn’t help but imagine Auric obtaining another element. But she couldn’t ask him here since Axel didn’t seem to know about Auric’s true abilities.
Auric just waved his hand. "Anyway, thank you for the battle techniques. The trip must have been tough. Why don’t I treat you to dinner?"
"No need. It’s fine. I should be heading back to the airport soon."
"All right." Auric nodded and waved before leaving. "In that case, see you again in the future."
"Ah, wait. I had almost forgotten. I haven’t gotten your number yet. You never called me." Axel stopped him.
"Did I?" Auric tried to recall what happened after healing Axel. Now that he thought about it, he was so busy with the store that he had forgotten about it. "You are right. Sorry. It just slipped my mind because I was so busy."
"No problem." Axel couldn’t care less, since he had finally gotten Auric’s number.
Once Auric left, Axel and Ellia’s expressions turned cold.
"So, are you done now? Or are you going to piss me off further? I don’t treat people badly, but if you are going to mess around, then don’t blame me for being ruthless."
"Your family still needs my family for weapons. I just warned you so that you understand the stance of my family." Axel shrugged.
"I don’t like people meddling in my business. Besides, your family also depends on mine." Ellia snorted.
"Just like usual. Do you think I don’t know you are here because of your messy family?" Axel chuckled.
"So, are you flaunting now? Maybe we should have a fight right here, right now? You don’t need to go home since I will be the one to finish you off."
"Oh, I’m scared." Axel stuck out his tongue. "Well, I have finished my business here. I hope I don’t have to see you again. At least for the next ten years."
Axel rolled his eyes, realizing he would have to deal with her again since it was a family business.
"Go away. The farther, the better." Ellia snorted.
Axel just took his leave but secretly glanced back, ensuring that Ellia entered Grand Magica College instead of chasing after Auric.
"Miss?" Arina smiled wryly, not knowing what to do next.
"Just go back to our villa first. I need some tea."
"Okay."
Seeing the car leave, Axel let out a sigh and thought, "Good. This should be enough, right?"
Axel crossed his arms. "How dare she try to get him? If he wants to date someone, I think my cousin is a better option than that devil. Do I need to introduce them? No, wait. I’m supposed to bring him the books, not become a matchmaking agent... or should I?"
