Chapter 200 200: Not Over
Chapter 200 200: Not Over
Thud!
The stone hovered in midair, inches from Fabian's forehead, before a hand caught it effortlessly.
The crowd gasped as a tall figure stepped forward. His presence was definitely a lot more intimidating than the desperate-looking Fabian.
"Who dares bully my junior brother?" the man said, though he already knew about Rayven..
Rayven lowered his hand, as he looked at the man…
'Junior? Who is this guy?'
Then, with Julia's help, he confirmed that the newcomer was indeed Fabian's senior brother, a disciple of Swordmaster Kael as well.
Unlike Fabian, however, he was no ordinary swordsman. His aura also had traces of mana. Even his blade seemed to be very special.
'Interesting…' Rayven mused.
Then, Julia revealed the man's identity…
"Be careful, Rayven… He's a Magic Swordsman…" Julia whispered as she looked at the tall figure who seemed to be around 23 to 25 years old.
Furthermore, just looking at his body frame or muscles, Rayven looked really small…
The man's eyes locked onto Rayven.
"You think yourself strong because you can bind a novice with tricks? I am Castor… Master Kael's disciple, trained in both blade and spell. I will challenge you properly."
Rayven tilted his head. He remained calm even after hearing the man's identity…
"If you want a duel, then name your wager."
The swordsman smirked… He touched his growing beard for a moment and considered the wager.
He didn't think of that at first.
"If you lose, you will kneel before Fabian and admit your theft. You don't have to return the money that was lost. If you win… We will apologize and no longer look into this matter. I will even give you a sword."
Rayven thought for a moment... He actually liked getting money instead. However, by the looks of their clothes, shoes, and even the dirt on their nails, they seemed really poor.
The sword was most likely the best he could get from them.
"That's fair enough, I guess... I accept."
The guards quickly moved to clear space, leading both men to the larger courtyard where duels were sanctioned.
Soon, torches were lit, and soon, it illuminated the stone floor. Just like that, the servants and guards gathered to watch.
After all, Rayven had just returned, and many of them knew that he should only be a beginner mage… An apprentice with two or three Spell Runes at most.
They couldn't help but feel curious after seeing his confidence.
Fabian, still dazed, was pulled aside, his eyes burning with humiliation as his senior prepared to fight in his stead.
He could only admit that he was not a match against Rayven.
After a few moments, the battle finally started…
"Let's end this fast." The magic swordsman drew his blade, chanting softly as runes glowed along its edge.
"Go ahead…" Rayven replied.
"Oh steel that thirsts for blood…
Blade Ignite!"
Flames burst along the sword! It was soon filled with mana…
His stance shifted as he also prepared another spell to attack.
Rayven, however, simply raised his hand. "Stone Skin."

His body shimmered faintly, hardened by the spell's protection.
He took a single step forward, ready to face the man…
"Stone Skin? Not bad… But I can still burn you!" Castor shouted.
He then charged forward with his flaming blade, cutting through the air.
Rayven, however, just whispered calmly…
"Gust Step."

In an instant, Rayven blurred since his body was propelled by wind.
The strike missed as flames sliced only empty air.
The crowd gasped as they already counted Rayven's spell… They knew that Initiate Mage could only have 7 spells. However, with the Spells Rayve had shown so far, they felt that it would be hard to win against the Magic Swordsman.
Rayven turned and cast another Spell…
"Mana Pulse."

The shockwave slammed into the swordsman, forcing him back a step.
Yet he gritted his teeth, chanting again…
"O earth that anchors and flame that roars…
Earthen Grasp and Fire Lash!"
The ground cracked, stone hands rising to seize Rayven's legs, while a whip of fire lashed toward him.
Rayven's eyes focused as he realized that the man was indeed fast...
"Mist Shroud."

A veil of mist erupted around him, obscuring his form. The fire whip struck only vapor!
From within the mist, Rayven's voice echoed.
"Telekinesis."

Several stones lifted from the courtyard floor, streaking toward the swordsman. He deflected two with his blade, but the third struck his shoulder, staggering him.
It was weak but it certainly disrupted the man's tempo…
"Hmph! Do you think that can defeat me! Take this seriously!" Castor shouted. Those small pebbles were not something that could hurt him at all. It could only annoy him!
Rayven stepped out of the mist and smiled…
"You cast your spells too slow… You won't keep up."
The swordsman frowned as his blade ignited brighter. "Don't underestimate me!"
He charged again, but Rayven raised his hand calmly.
"Gravity Bind."

The swordsman's body froze before he could strike down, and his blade halted inches from Rayven's chest. His knees buckled under the crushing force.
Rayven then looked at the man…
"Is that it?"
The courtyard fell silent. Fabian's senior brother struggled, but the bind held firm.
The crowd murmured, already convinced the fight was decided.
But then…
Boom!
Castor's coat suddenly burst with energy, threads of mana surging outward like lightning. His aura flared violently, forcing several guards to stumble back!
The flames on his blade also roared higher!
Rayven's eyes narrowed. What is this?
Castor gritted his teeth…
"You think you've won? You've only seen the surface of my strength!"
With a chant, he invoked a deeper spell, one that merged blade and mana into a single destructive force.
"O flame that devours and steel that endures…
Titan's Edge!"
The flaming sword expanded, doubling in size!
The sheer pressure shattered Rayven's Gravity Bind, freeing himself in the process!
