Chapter 4 : Talo Star
Chapter 4 : Talo Star
The light sword disappeared completely, with Chen Sui hanging from the other end, one knee kneeling on the energy body's scales.
The energy crystal was the source of an energy body's life.
Without the crystal, an energy body would lose all abilities, gradually being eroded by energy storms, becoming nutrients for the energy field.
The roaring sound from the energy body beneath her feet stopped, and the surging winds around calmed.
After a moment of silence.
A gentle breeze blew softly.
Chen Sui exerted force with her wrist, and as she pulled out the light sword, she arched her body and forcefully kicked the energy body beneath her feet.
The reactive force pulled the light sword out from the thick flesh.
Her body formed a crescent-like arc in mid-air, the blue arc of the light sword, and the gray glowing energy crystal at its tip, tracing a curve through the air.
When landing, the mecha slid half a meter, kneeling on one knee, then stopped abruptly.
She held the sword with one hand, supporting herself with the other hand on the ground as she stood up.
Before her, the enormous body of the energy body collapsed with a 'boom,' like a falling mountain.
It hit the ground with a dull thud.
Chen Sui coldly glanced at the huge carcass, then raised the sword edge and removed the energy crystal from its tip.
She swung the light sword in a circle in mid-air, then sheathed it in the mechanical scabbard behind her.
Mr. Pyson, watching the energy body fall, turned bright red in the face.
After a moment, he remembered he could breathe, immediately gasping for air while staring at Chen Sui.
"You......"
Mr. Pyson had just begun to speak when he was suddenly interrupted by the surrounding disturbance.
The energy storms in the energy field all converged toward the central mecha.
The powerful energy storm made it difficult for Mr. Pyson to breathe.
Before he could finish speaking, his eyes rolled back, and he instantly collapsed.
Invisible winds surged toward this spot, the vegetation growing in the energy field transforming into invisible green fluorescence, all flowing into the energy crystal in the exoskeleton's palm.
Outside the energy field.
The students from Third Ring Sixth Academy had just arrived at Talo Star, joining with the border army at the energy field management center.
"The field has been divided according to the distribution of energy bodies."
A woman with long hair in a ponytail, dressed in military uniform, stepped out from the crowd, saluted the border army, then nodded to the team leader teacher: "Thank you for the United Academy's support."
United Academy referred to the Third Star Ring United Academy training.
She quickly led the group into the energy field detection tower, where energy fluctuation diagrams for several energy fields were displayed on light screens.
The border army soon assigned tasks, entering various energy fields in batches.
The energy management personnel sighed in relief, their tone somewhat heavy: "Thank you all. This time, there are fifty-seven thousand people trapped on Talo Star. I thank you on their behalf."
Hearing this, the team leader teacher felt a lump in his throat, nodding heavily, "We'll follow the border army's arrangements."
The students from Third Ring Sixth Academy, along with the border army, quickened their pace, heading to the anchor points of the energy fields.
Several students were divided into small groups, following different border army teams, carrying energy detection instruments, preparing to enter the energy fields.
"What the hell, they call us for rescue and then assign us the lowest level one."
They were assigned to the Ocean Boulevard energy field, containing an S-class energy body. The boy who spoke frowned irritably; he didn't care about S-class energy crystals, what he really wanted was to go to that SS-class energy field.
Hearing his complaint, the female warrior at the edge of the team asked: "Are we rescuing with the border army?"
The speaker twisted his mouth: "Rescue what? Let's get the energy crystal first."
The girl frowned disapprovingly, reminding him: "The teacher said that after entering the field, the priority is to rescue survivors."
He laughed dismissively, "These people will naturally be rescued by the border army. I'm quite looking forward to testing my skills against an energy body, especially an unrecorded one."
The girl couldn't reason with him and rolled her eyes in exasperation.
Just as the students were about to enter the anchor point, the border army observing the energy patterns suddenly noticed something wrong, waving for the crowd to stop.
The boy clicked his tongue impatiently: "What's going on?"
As soon as he spoke, the energy detection instrument in his hand suddenly emitted a sharp sound.
"Violent energy field fluctuation! Violent energy field fluctuation!"
A look of panic flashed across the boy's face. He gripped the instrument tightly, cursed under his breath, then looked up at the border army.
"Step back."
Someone issued the command.
The workers and students gathered at the anchor point uniformly retreated, distancing themselves from the energy field.
A rumbling sound of mountain collapse came from within the energy field.
The anchor point split open, then was torn into a large hole.
Energy storms spilled out, raging wildly toward the surroundings. If not for the isolation materials blocking them, the surrounding people would have suffered.
With the gap at the anchor point as a signal, the energy isolation of the entire field seemed to disappear. People outside could see the layered mountains and collapsed ruins inside.
The entire energy field was exposed to view, and just as everyone's nerves were tense.
The energy field's barrier disappeared.
"Beep------"
At this moment, the wave pattern on the energy detector suddenly saw a nearly vertical line, the fluctuation dropping from almost reaching its peak to zero in an instant.
"Detecting energy fluctuation level......8, 7,...5, 4, 3, 2, 1."
"No energy fluctuation, energy field disappeared, alert dismissed."
The cold mechanical voice became the only sound at this moment.
The next second after the energy field barrier dispersed.
The black mountains cracked into countless huge fragments, soil adhering to the ground.
The energy-corroded collapsed high-rises, shattered buildings, fractured roads, and the broken, collapsed suspended tracks in mid-air all became a chaotic mess of ruins.
Soil and debris buried unidentified areas, living beings corroded by black sludge.
Among the broken walls and ruins, near the shattered mountains, a tall mecha rose from the ground.
The creaking sound of mechanical operation and the spurting of propulsion devices became the only clamor in the silence.
It stepped on the enormous body of the energy body beneath its feet.
The giant corpse gradually melted into the soil, dissipating rapidly like the energy body's energy storm.
Under everyone's gaze, the mecha detected abnormal vital signs in the pilot, quickly ejecting the cockpit, the propulsion force placing her steadily on the ground.
Without the mecha's covering, the surrounding people could clearly see the pilot's appearance.
A thin girl with short black hair, raising a pair of blood-filled eyes, the heavy killing intent making people's hearts chill. The border army frowned imperceptibly.
The violent aura deterred anyone from approaching.
So, everyone just watched as she mechanically took a step forward, her figure swaying unsteadily.
And Chen Sui, being observed by people, currently didn't feel good at all.
The moment the energy field dissipated, a powerful force that made breathing difficult surged into her body.
Her brain felt as if filled with lead, becoming extraordinarily heavy.
Her pupils were extremely sore, feeling as if her eyeballs were slightly protruding, her eyelids barely able to contain them.
The scene before her appeared somewhat hazy; she could only vaguely discern that she had walked out from the pitch-black mountains.
The dazzling sunlight turned everything before her white.
The blinding white light made it impossible to see faces clearly, and her ear canals were filled with flowing, roaring water sounds.
Someone seemed to be saying something, but soon, she could no longer hear clearly.
Darkness once again replaced the white light.
The crowd saw her step on the ruins with one foot, tilting her head as she fell to the ground.
And so the crowd returned from their shock.
"What's going on......"
The previously arrogant boy muttered softly, taking a deep breath, not daring to admit he had just been frightened by a mere look.
His teammates couldn't answer, even becoming somewhat at a loss after the energy field disappeared.
The border army continued to take over, digging out all the unconscious people buried by buildings and mountains in the energy field, sending them to medical institutes.
The Ocean Boulevard energy field became the quickest resolved among the Talo Star energy field group this time.
The resolver was a mecha soldier.
When the border army rescued Chen Sui and Mr. Pyson, they identified the mecha's owner through its certification.
"Resolving an S-class energy body with a basic mecha, that's pretty impressive."
"Although there was the factor of using high-grade mecha weapons, but this kind of combat capability is really formidable!"
A border army soldier exchanged a glance with his companion, who nodded in agreement.
Chen Sui felt her consciousness sink into a strange space.
Everything around was incredibly familiar.
It was on a desolate, ruined wasteland.
Bizarrely shaped monsters with extraordinary power effortlessly destroyed a coastal city, slaughtering every visible life at will.
A valiant woman, piloting a blood-colored mecha, swiftly killed the monsters invading a certain district of the underground city.
The tall, beautiful woman jumped down from the mecha, looking at her in the crowd with a smile: "As the vanguard, your task is to eliminate all enemies, at any cost, understand, Little Sui?"
"This is the most dangerous, most insane position, the position where alien species will first kill. Are you sure you want to be the vanguard?"
Chen Sui couldn't remember what she had said at that time.
But then, she saw a fairytale-like dreamland valley.
Green forests climbing to form a fresh forest cabin, large trees growing freely on the vast grassland, the cabin on one of the tree's branches.
Surrounding were colorful flowers of all kinds, a huge red man-eating flower in front of the cabin door, arranged at varying heights, seemingly the steps in front of the door. Looking out, it resembled the rose manor from fairy tales.
The dream scenes were extremely chaotic. She could see her face through the clear stream, one eye green, but the other, instead of the silver artificial eye, had nothing in the pupil position, looking like glass, refracting brilliant light.
There was a murmur from another space, like the whisper of a deity, ethereal and distant.
Though in an unfamiliar language, Chen Sui understood what it said.
That voice called her: "Wood gives birth to flower, descend."
"The world that belongs to us will open."
Chen Sui heard the surrounding noise.
Conversational voices, hurried footsteps.
Machine voice reminders, door collisions.
All flowed into her senses.
The pungent smell of disinfectant made her nose sour.
Chen Sui slowly opened her eyes. The wasteland and forest seemed just a fantasy dream. What met her eyes was a silver-white ceiling and the crisscrossing machine lines connected to her body.
The healing chamber's light jumped to the "awakened" state.
Footsteps sounded, the room door opened, and a doctor in a silver-white protective suit walked in.
