Chapter 16 : Combat Training
Chapter 16 : Combat Training
"It's fine!"
Hemo'er raised his eyebrow to look at her, head held high, replying with a sour face.
In the classroom, separated by the crowd, Chen Sui hadn't seen his appearance clearly. Now watching him adjust his mecha, she was drawn to his crew cut.
He perfectly matched the interstellar stereotype of a soldier.
Tall build, wearing a red tank top, muscles firm on his arms, the tank top tapering at the waist, vaguely revealing abdominal muscle lines.
Then tucked into black school uniform pants, with a black belt in the same color scheme as Zhu Jing Fu fastened around his waist, two pockets slanted open, revealing his habit of standing with hands in pockets.
Chen Sui withdrew her gaze, watching him climb into the cockpit in a few steps. The mecha activated, and his arrogant words came through:
"You're not big in stature, but your tone is not small. Let me see just how capable you are, daring to presumptuously..."
"Make me listen while kneeling!"
Hemo'er shook his wrist.
Chen Sui watched him swagger toward her and reminded him: "Weapons."
Hemo'er paused in his steps.
He stiffly turned around, walking toward the operation console.
Each combat arena had a combat platform that could monitor the damage taken by both contestants, effective attacks, and energy fluctuations.
Chen Sui stepped onto the combat platform, feeling the surroundings change.
Hemo'er chose a light sword, a very classic weapon configuration.
"Hey," he shouted at Chen Sui from the opposite side:
"Later, just treat me like the energy body in the entrance exam, understand? I want to know what qualifies you to break the record."
Chen Sui had never heard anyone make such a request. "Are you sure?"
"Of course," Hemo'er tilted his head, holding the light sword in one hand, affectedly sliding his other hand along the blade. "I'm saying, you're not scared, are you?"
"As you wish."
Chen Sui's voice and the combat platform's landscape prompt sounded simultaneously.
"Match begins."
She was on the other side of the combat platform. Hemo'er had just performed a reverse sword flourish when the opponent's mecha compressed its knee, the entire figure launching forward, rapidly leaping toward his direction.
Hemo'er dodged sideways as the silver whip stabbed through the virtual red soil like a sword. When raised again, it scattered red sand everywhere.
Chen Sui swung the whip to the side. Seeing he was about to propel his mecha into the air, she quickly gripped the BB gun with her other hand, firing three consecutive shots at the position above.
Hemo'er's expression changed. His already airborne mecha quickly spun, but a steel ball unexpectedly struck his mecha's head.
A fiery explosion burst on his right cheek.
Hemo'er felt as if someone had slapped his face, but soon, with a whistling sound cutting through the air, a silver dragon, like lightning racing across stars, struck his left cheek.
The powerful impact directly smacked him to the other side of the combat platform.
The mecha crashed against the metal floor of the combat platform with a clanging sound.
The tremendous commotion made even the onlookers shudder.
Seeing this, one of the waltz brothers stepped off rhythm, directly stepping on his good brother's foot.
"Ow, damn, why are you stepping on me?"
"Sorry, sorry," the other stopped his movements, glancing at combat arena 79, then continued their pretense, "Shit, Hemo'er is being ground into the floor."
"It's not that easy, Hemo'er was just careless," the person across, also an old adversary of Hemo'er's, was very familiar with his characteristics. "You'll see, she'd better not let Hemo'er stand up, otherwise she'll know what it means to be the first-year top student in the soldier system."
"You're that confident? The first-year top student just took two slaps, she's so ruthless, hitting him right in the face."
"The more disadvantaged Hemo'er gets, the stronger he explodes with power. You think his precision test and speed test were jokes? Top ten!"
Hemo'er, pressed against the combat platform at this moment, felt numbness and pain in both cheeks. He pressed his tongue against his teeth, eyes somewhat bloodshot.
"You're good."
He gritted his teeth, looking at Chen Sui with red eyes.
"Are we still fighting?"
Chen Sui asked, tilting her head.
Hemo'er flipped up from the ground, holding a light sword in one hand and a gun cannon in the other, now completely devoid of the nonchalance he had when showing off earlier.
Chen Sui noticed his movement and quickly retreated her mecha.
Sure enough, after Hemo'er stood up, his BB gun aimed directly at her mecha's position, rapidly firing several steel balls, with explosion sounds erupting.
Chen Sui had already moved to another position.
"Running pretty fast."
In the cockpit, Hemo'er wiped his left cheek where the silver whip had struck, the electric-like numbness still lingering.
With pent-up frustration, he now absolutely refused to treat Chen Sui as an ordinary interstellar nomad. His vigilant posture clearly acknowledged her assessment achievements.
The mecha flashed, rapidly approaching the opponent.
Chen Sui's silver whip traced lines of silver light in front of her.
Outside spectators couldn't keep up, barely able to see the whip's position, but the approaching black mecha could precisely dodge each of her attacks in less than a second.
Seeing the distance close with Chen Sui, Hemo'er fired his BB gun behind her, blocking her retreat route, while the light sword in his other hand spun, slashing diagonally down at the mecha.
Only now did Chen Sui feel some fighting spirit.
One-sided crushing wasn't interesting; two people exchanging blows back and forth was truly exhilarating.
"Pretty impressive," she said in a flat tone.
It sounded especially like mockery.
At least Hemo'er felt it was, and the force behind his light sword increased several degrees.
"Clang!"
The light sword was blocked halfway by the extended silver whip, just a foot away from Chen Sui's silver-white mecha.
The end of the silver whip circled in the air, wrapping around the black mecha's knee joint.
"There's more!" Hemo'er pressed down forcefully with his wrist. "Even more impressive!"
His strength was terrifying. Those in the soldier system who had fought with him couldn't help but worry for Chen Sui.
"She needs to dodge, Hemo'er's strength test is very high, and with the new classmate's physique, tsk!"
"Damn, stop tsking, don't you see who's using force?"
After a few seconds of deadlock, the components of Hemo'er's mecha arm began to tremble.
Chen Sui glanced in the cockpit, a killing move flashing through her mind.
But then remembering this was a classmate, she switched to the combat technique Di Qian had just taught today.
Chen Sui briefly commented: "Your strength is impressive, but strength alone is useless."
Hemo'er's heart skipped a beat. Before he could discern her intention, he felt a heavy object strike his abdomen.
The force nearly expelled his internal organs, the pain numbing his brain for a second.
In that second, Chen Sui put away her gun cannon. Her mecha's arm, in a peculiarly twisted posture, passed through his armpit, grabbing the black mecha's arm and violently twisting it outward.
Before his mecha flew out like a rag doll, she disarmed the light sword from his hand.
Hemo'er felt as if his entire body had been scattered, the sensation of weightlessness causing some blood to rush to his head.
He felt himself being kicked into the air, when suddenly something pulled at his foot, stopping the mecha's figure in mid-air.
"Hey, not asleep, are you?"
Chen Sui politely asked, highly insulting. Hemo'er gritted his teeth: "Damn, if you want to fight, just fight, don't insult people!"
Chen Sui nodded indifferently: "Oh."
As soon as she finished speaking, she pulled on the silver whip, spinning the giant mecha 360 degrees on the combat platform, then, to the shock of the surrounding people, the mecha leaped up, slamming Hemo'er down hard.
"Boom!"
The tremendous sound and intense vibration made people in other combat arenas unanimously tremble in their legs.
"I swear, this is the most brutal sound I've heard from a combat platform."
Someone spoke with a stutter.
Behind the teaching light screen, Di Qian, who had been secretly observing their battle process, nodded solemnly.
This was also the loudest the combat platform had been since he began teaching at Zhu Jing Fu.
Hemo'er was face down, his face abruptly stopped.
He coughed several times in the cockpit, and just as he turned over, a swift wind grazed his cheek, a sharp light sword stabbing toward him like a javelin.
Hemo'er quickly rolled over, half-kneeling, as the light sword pierced the spot where he had just been, precisely positioned just a finger's width away.
He quickly pulled out the light sword and was about to stand when a silver flash passed in front of him. Chen Sui whipped the mecha's arm, sweeping outward, sending the light sword to the other side of the combat platform, then quickly flashed to Hemo'er's front.
She raised her foot to kick him, knocking him down again, drawing her BB gun and aiming it at his mecha's forehead.
With one foot on his chest, she supported her arm, looking down at him.
"Have you had enough?"
Hemo'er, having been kicked twice, was still coughing. Hearing her flat, emotionless tone, he felt increasingly mocked.
But he had no words to retort.
Because he was genuinely outmatched.
Hemo'er choked a bit, holding back.
Until Chen Sui impatiently raised the BB gun, preparing to fire.
His face turned red, either from shame or anger.
In a voice as faint as a mosquito, he stated: "I've lost."
Chen Sui removed her foot, flicking the silver whip to the side, picking up the light sword from the ground, and throwing it behind her again.
She didn't look back, but the light sword fit perfectly in its previous position, where Hemo'er could see it with a turn of his head.
He stood up using the light sword as support, taking a limping step.
Chen Sui sensed his wobble and, before Hemo'er fell, said amicably:
"This time, for the sake of being classmates, I won't make you listen while kneeling. Next time, pay attention in class and mind your own business."
Hemo'er's temper flared, and he directly rolled his eyes.
The entire mecha crashed onto the combat platform once more.
Face down.
Those watching this scene immediately exclaimed in shock.
The waltz brothers had stopped their pretense as soon as Hemo'er was thrown to the ground.
The person supporting Hemo'er looked at this scene in surprise, stepping on his good brother's foot in disbelief, "Damn, what's going on, did Hemo'er get knocked out?"
"Ouch, ouch, ouch, bro, can't you step on yourself?" He extracted his foot from under his mecha's sole. "It's obvious, isn't it? Hemo'er not only lost but also passed out."
He looked with admiration at Chen Sui as she emerged from the cockpit.
With her exceptionally lean physique, she nimbly jumped several times on the mecha, landing steadily.
She pulled Hemo'er, who had been ejected from the emergency cabin due to fainting, out of the cockpit.
Di Qian used his teacher's authority to open combat arena 79, stepping forward to check Hemo'er's condition.
From the corner of his eye, he glanced at the students outside who were standing on tiptoe to watch, and quietly asked Chen Sui: "Didn't we agree to not go overboard?"
Chen Sui was about to stand up, but hearing this, pointed at Hemo'er with a puzzled expression, "Yes, I already held back."
She hadn't even used killing moves, just combat techniques.
