Chapter 75
Chapter 75
What is that fool Bianca staring at Aiden for? She hasn't moved for ages. Azure settled her body back down onto the ground. Lying down was more comfortable. She looked over at Aiden. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary; his sleeping form was otherwise unchanged. A wave of heat rolled off his body. He must have used Flame Pillar to carve this place out, she mused. There's no other explanation for this heat.
Azure padded forward a few steps, pressing herself against Bianca's white-scaled body. A pleasant coolness radiated from her. It felt good. She lifted her head and looked at the white dragon beside her. The fool was still staring intently at Aiden. This wouldn't do. The cave was too hot; she had to get Bianca to cool it down before they could comfortably settle in. Time for another trick.
The blue dragon lifted her tail and gently poked the white scales on Bianca's back. Feeling the touch, Bianca turned her head.
“Bianca,” Azure purred, “the cave is so hot. Why don't you cool it down a bit?”
The white head nodded.
“And you see, if…”
Hm? Azure trailed off. The white head had already turned back to face the cavern. Mana was condensing in the air, and two white rings of power quickly formed before her.
“Ice Burst!” White spears of ice shot out in all directions.
Tsssss!
The ice lances sizzled and melted the moment they hit the hot stone walls.
“Ice Burst!” A great cloud of white steam billowed out.
“Ice Burst!”
Azure stared at the white dragon's head. What's gotten into her? she wondered. How did she suddenly become so obedient?
After casting Ice Burst three consecutive times, the white rings before Bianca's head shattered into motes of light and vanished. The temperature in the steam-filled cavern had already dropped. The white mist did nothing to obstruct a dragon's vision.
Azure watched the white figure. Is she preparing to go into slumber?
Bianca's claws stopped just before the black-and-red body. She stood up straight.
With a soft scrape of claws, she climbed onto his black back. She lifted her right hind leg, swung it over, and with a push from her left leg, she was sitting astride him completely.
Once on top, her white tail began to wag furiously. The light in her white eyes was practically glowing. At this moment, her dragon life had reached its absolute peak. She had achieved a goal she had long pursued.
But there was one more small goal to complete. She lowered her head. The black-and-red dragon head was slumped on the ground. She lifted her claw.
Pat.
The claw landed with a very light touch. A dragon in deep slumber slept soundly, but if it received a sufficiently heavy blow, the result would be a dragon in a state of pure fury. As a dragon herself, Bianca was well aware of this fact. She stared at the black-and-red head, her maw unconsciously splitting into a grin.

Aow aow aow! Aiden, look at you now! Surrender to the great white dragon Bianca! Aow aow!
Bianca's claw patted the black-and-red scales again. Pure bliss. In that moment, her white eyes were shining so brightly they seemed to be emitting their own light.
Azure watched, momentarily speechless.
That foolish dragon is unexpectedly bold. To do such a thing while Aiden is in his slumber. But then… a gleam of eagerness flashed in Azure's blue pupils. This is truly a rare opportunity. As long as we don't actually attack Aiden, he will almost certainly not wake up.
Her blue claws padded forward. She drew close. With a soft scrape, her blue right leg swung over, and with a push from her left, her body was straddling his black-and-red back. Aiden's back was broad; the two wyrmlings sitting on it together were a perfect, if slightly tight, fit.
Feeling a body press against her from behind, Bianca turned her head. She bared her teeth, revealing two rows of full, pearly-white fangs.
“Get down! I was here first!”
Though Bianca was fierce, Azure was completely unruffled. Her calm blue pupils simply stared at the dragon before her. “Are you sure?”
“Aow! Get down!” The girlish treble was firm.
Azure's blue pupils stared into the white ones. She narrowed her eyes slightly. “Do you really want me to get down? I'll be very sad, you know.”
“Get down!” Firm.
“A sad me might just tell Aiden what a certain dragon… casually did while he was sleeping…” She drew out the last word. “Sleeeeeping…”
Bianca's white eyes widened. She gnashed her teeth. She immediately turned her head away, not wanting to look at the detestable creature for another second. Detestable creature, only knows how to tattle. A disgrace to dragonkind. Hmph.
Seeing Bianca turn away, a grin split Azure's blue maw. She turned her head, her gaze falling upon the long, sinuous black-and-red tail. A piece of knowledge from the Dragon's Heritage surfaced in her mind. On the continent of Aethelgard, many of the tiny short-lived species would use beasts or magical beasts to travel. They were collectively known as mounts.
A mischievous thought bloomed.
Her own long tail extended, wrapping around the black-and-red tail. She hooked it, then drew it back toward her. When Aiden's tail was before her, she unwrapped her own and took hold of it securely in her claws. Her work done, her blue tail slowly lowered behind her. She looked down at the tail clutched in her claws. This is the finest whip.
She lifted the red tail and brought it down on the red scales.
Pat.
The force was so light the sound was almost imperceptible, but it was loud enough for Azure to hear. In that moment, her blue pupils lit up. So satisfying! The frustration that had been building up within her was released in that single moment. Aiden, charge forward! she commanded in her mind, whipping his scales with his own tail.
Sitting in front, the white wyrmling lifted her head, her gaze locking onto the black-and-red head resting on the ground. The memories of all the times her own head had been hit slowly surfaced. Her white eyes narrowed. Oh no. I have to hit him back.
Bianca braced herself on the black scales with her claws and inched her way forward. She slid down his neck and stopped right in front of his head. She lifted her claw.
Pat.
The force was very light. Her white eyes widened, the already-bright pupils becoming even brighter.
Pat.
She continued to pat.
Hearing the faint sound, the focused Azure lifted her head. Seeing the figure patting Aiden's head, her blue pupils narrowed. “Bianca, don't you wake him up.”
“Hmph! None of your business!” she retorted. But for all her bravado, the force of her pats became noticeably lighter, and their frequency slowed.
Seeing this, Azure's heart settled. The fool was still afraid. She returned her attention to her own game.
After they had had their mischievous fun to their hearts' content, the two wyrmlings, one white and one blue, finally satisfied, lay down on the black-and-red dragon's back. Their throats bobbed a few times as they swallowed the magic crystals in their mouths. Their heads immediately slumped down.
Huuu…
Huuu…
Huuu…
The number of snores in the cave grew to three, a continuous, rumbling chorus.
