Chapter 2446: Who Are You, and Why Are You Capturing Me?

Chapter 2446: Who Are You, and Why Are You Capturing Me?

"Profound Ice!"

"We found it!"

Phineas Tate’s eyes sparkled with excitement, and the others shouted joyfully.

Capturing the Phoenix Fire Spirit might grant them freedom, freeing them from being slaves here!

Phineas reached out into the air, and a massive chunk of land was lifted by him. With a slight shake, the impact of spiritual energy crumbled the soil and stones, leaving only that enormous block of Profound Ice floating in the air, still frozen with earth.

Everyone looked over, and their expressions changed drastically.

In the middle of the Profound Ice block was a huge hole, with water formed from the Profound Ice flowing out, but there was no sign of the Phoenix Fire Spirit.

Where is the Phoenix Fire Spirit?

Phineas flashed over to the hole. With just one glance, he understood the reason and his face turned ashen.

"The Phoenix Fire Spirit broke out of the ice and escaped. Prylor Jandric, bring the bell, chase it!"

Prylor’s face also looked very unpleasant. Not daring to hesitate, he performed Earth Escape and disappeared into the ground once more.

On the surface, Phineas and the others looked grim. The second in command nervously asked, "Wasn’t the Phoenix Fire Spirit sealed? How did it break free in such a short time? This sealing magic artifact... isn’t very effective."

Phineas gritted his teeth, remaining silent.

Would Ghost True Sage even listen to his explanation?

Now all hopes were pinned on Prylor to shut the barn door after the horse has bolted, catch up to the Phoenix Fire Spirit, and perhaps find a way to capture it.

Hope was slim.

The Phoenix Fire Spirit, having been sealed once, was likely frightened. It would probably head straight to the Earth’s Core; who could possibly find it now?

Far in the sky, Profound River and Draelor Loxley watched this scene, with Profound River’s lips slightly curling up.

While he wasn’t sure if Carson Flores had captured the Phoenix Fire Spirit, the fact that someone else failed was good news.

More importantly, they sealed the Phoenix Fire Spirit, and while Prylor Jandric broke through the ground to report the discovery of the frozen Profound Ice, Carson was below!

Surely Carson would seize this opportunity, right!

Previously, Floating Cloud had asked Carson if he had a way to deal with the Phoenix Fire Spirit, and Carson assured him he did, making Profound River think of Carson’s Mirror of Elemental Harmony.

Though its Harmony function could not be activated for now, manipulating water and fire was still possible. Although the Phoenix Fire Spirit was a superior Spiritual Fire, it was still just fire—it surely couldn’t resist the Mirror of Elemental Harmony.

Draelor, unaware of Carson’s Earth Escape abilities and the Mirror of Elemental Harmony, was overjoyed seeing this: "The Phoenix Fire Spirit escaped, they failed!"

Profound River responded with a soft acknowledgement: "We can just enjoy the show from afar."

Draelor sighed: "The Phoenix Fire Spirit is surely scared out of its wits this time, probably hiding underground not to emerge for a while..."

Profound River replied perfunctorily: "Indeed."

Draelor glanced back at the horizon, seemingly on the verge of collapse, anxiously saying, "Won’t those four end up blowing up this world?"

Profound River responded indifferently: "If it gets blown up, so be it. This place has already been explored, and nobody lives here. If it gets destroyed, it gets destroyed."

Draelor smiled bitterly: "I haven’t rid myself of the poison yet. If I can’t escape from him, he’ll eventually kill me; he truly hates me now."

Profound River nodded but didn’t respond further.

Originally, they had captured Ghost True Sage and were sure to obtain Draelor’s antidote, but who would have thought that the Quasi-Saint would appear and drag everyone here to be laborers?

They are now struggling to protect themselves, let alone Draelor.

The future hinges on whether Carson captures the Phoenix Fire Spirit and whether the higher power is willing to keep their promise.

Carson, did you succeed?

...

Carson delved deep into the Earth’s Core for a long while before moving horizontally.

After some time, having distanced himself thousands of miles from the battlefield, Carson finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Safe at last.

Considering that the Quasi-Saint might be watching everything, Carson didn’t dare to easily leave the underground.

Even though the perception of a Quasi-Saint is strong, it couldn’t possibly extend to such deep underground.

Here, Carson was safe.

Carson found a large underground cavern, revealing himself, surveying the surroundings, and took out the Mirror of Elemental Harmony.

He focused his mind, quickly linking his spirit with the Mirror of Elemental Harmony, and entered into the void space within it.

In the void of darkness, the Phoenix Fire Spirit was flying rapidly, seemingly searching for an exit.

"No need to struggle futilely; you cannot escape."

The sudden voice made the Phoenix Fire Spirit pause, shaking its head and scanning around, seeking the source of the voice.

"Who are you? I didn’t harm you; why capture me?"

The Phoenix Fire Spirit’s voice was crisp, surprisingly a girl’s voice, causing Carson to wonder, does a Phoenix Fire developing spiritual wisdom and soul have gender?
