Chapter 2397: Extending Life with Buddhist Verses
Chapter 2397: Extending Life with Buddhist Verses
Faced with the question from the Profound Power Monk, the monk said nothing and just walked out slowly.
The Profound Power Monk, feeling helpless, could only stride forward to block the monk’s path.
His strength was obviously far inferior to this mad monk, and there was no way to stop him. But then again, who could make the monk a person of Dharma?
Having captured a disciple of the Dragon Mountain Sect, especially one who was the newly accepted disciple of Floating Cloud, the strongest in the sect—should anything happen, how could the Dragon Mountain Sect simply let it go?
The mad monk kept walking, heading straight toward the Profound Power Monk.
One step!
The Profound Power Monk’s expression suddenly changed, with sweat instantly rolling down from his brow.
Another step.
The Profound Power Monk let out a muffled groan, blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, and his face turned instantly pale.
"Master Ancestor, you..."
On the third step by the mad monk, the Profound Power Monk’s words abruptly stopped as he flew out like a cannonball.
Everyone changed color upon seeing this.
This person really is mad.
Even attacking his own people?
This power is terrifyingly strong, without even witnessing a move, just three steps, and the incredibly powerful Profound Power Monk was injured and blasted away!
Flowing Cloud angrily shouted, "The Wither-Bloom Sage, put down our sect’s disciple!"
The willow instantly went crazy, sending countless branches whipping toward them; some of them stabbed toward the mad monk like spears, while others wrapped around Carson Flores.
The Wither-Bloom Sage slightly parted his joined hands, and a ray of golden light flew out, shooting straight at the willow tree above Flowing Cloud’s head.
Countless willow branches slashed towards the golden light, but at the instant of contact with the golden light, all of the branches instantly shattered.
The golden light wasn’t intense, but it was unstoppable, crushing thousands of willow branches along the way until it finally hit the willow tree.
The once verdant giant willow instantly dimmed a lot, shrinking significantly, and Flowing Cloud’s face turned pale as he let out a muffled groan, clearly injured.
The Wither-Bloom Sage waved his sleeves backhandedly, and in an instant, all the branches extending toward Carson Flores were blocked in midair as if they had hit an invisible wall.
The Wither-Bloom Sage grabbed Carson Flores and, with just one step, disappeared from everyone’s view.
Carson Flores was completely bound by an invisible force, unable to move or speak, and seeing this mad monk casually injure Flowing Cloud left him utterly shocked.
This was just too strong.
How did I get so unlucky? I just woke up from comprehending the Dragon Mountain Cloud Dream Art, and I was taken away.
This time, no one can save me!
Carson Flores only felt the scenery before his eyes change; in the blink of an eye, he had left the Three Sects’ camp. Soon after, he was already far away from Moon God Island, appearing over the vast sea.
After a long time, unsure how far they had left Moon God Island, the Wither-Bloom Sage, holding Carson Flores, appeared on a not-so-large isolated island.
This island was small, small enough to see the entire scope at a glance, and it was uninhabited, just a deserted island on the sea.
Carson Flores was tossed onto the ground, and then he felt able to move again.
Carson Flores took a breath and quickly got up from the ground.
The Wither-Bloom Sage stood right across from Carson Flores, staring directly at him with a frenzied, manic gleam in his eyes.
Carson Flores knew his level of strength was virtually nonexistent before the Wither-Bloom Sage. If he wanted to escape alive, ultimately, it would depend on whether he was willing to let him go; otherwise, to kill him might take just a glance.
"Carson Flores of the Dragon Mountain Sect, greetings, Master."
The Wither-Bloom Sage stared at Carson Flores: "You are a Taoist, why do you know of Dharma?"
Carson Flores awkwardly said, "I am not a native of the Ten Thousand Immortals Domain; I come from a small world where we also have Dharma. What I previously mentioned is also what I heard from others."
The Wither-Bloom Sage’s gaze seemed to become dangerous in an instant: "You don’t understand Dharma?"
Carson Flores nodded: "I’ve only heard some Dharma verses but haven’t studied them myself..."
The Wither-Bloom Sage coldly spoke: "Dharma verses? Let me hear them. If you say them well, I will spare you; if not, you die."
Carson Flores was quite helpless; after all, the man was formidable.
Can you reason with a madman?
Haven’t you seen he even beat up his own disciple’s grand-disciple?
Carson Flores’ mind raced as he quickly replied, "The Enlightened One has no tree, nor does the bright mirror hold a stand. Originally, there is not a single thing; where does dust alight?"
The Wither-Bloom Sage’s eyes suddenly brightened, reciting it back with a thoughtful expression in his eyes.
Carson Flores let out a sigh of relief. He was not a Dharma believer; how could he understand sutras and verses? What he remembered were those widely circulated online.
If he couldn’t fool the Wither-Bloom Sage, wouldn’t that mean he was as good as dead?
Seeing the Wither-Bloom Sage deep in thought, Carson began to ponder if he could execute an Earth Escape to dive under the island and then a Water Escape to flee while the Sage was contemplating.
Just as the thought emerged, Carson involuntarily recalled the bottomless Abyss he saw earlier before the camp.
No!
This mad monk’s power is too immense; probably with one punch, he could shatter the earth. If I try to Earth Escape underground, he might blast me directly with a punch, killing me underground, no burial needed.
What should I do?
If I escape, and then enter the tower immediately, will it withstand his attacks?
The Ethereal Pagoda can isolate my life aura, would it be able to evade his Divine Sense scanning?
As Carson Flores pondered, the mad monk raised his head again.
"That one is good, continue."
Carson Flores felt a chill on his scalp. Don’t monks like to study questions from all angles, to thoroughly understand complex issues? Such a meaningful Dharma verse, you’ve comprehended it in just this short time?
Carson Flores internally lamented but had no choice but to continue on with a brave face.
"Form is emptiness, emptiness is form, sensation, perception, volition, and consciousness are also like this."
After a while, the Wither-Bloom Sage opened his eyes again: "Not bad, keep going."
"If sentiment beings think on and recite Buddha, in the present or future, they will surely see the Buddha."
"All appearances are illusory, all conditioned dharmas are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, shadows, like dew or lightning, thus should be contemplated."
"One flower, one world; one grass, one paradise; one leaf, one Tathagata; one sand, one pure land; one side, one pure realm; one smile, one fate."
As Carson Flores spoke each Dharma verse, he began to panic internally.
There’s no way around it, he ran out of things to say!
What he had just spoken were the most popular Dharma verses online, the kind anyone could recite a few lines of. But anything deeper, he didn’t know.
If he had even a slight understanding of Dharma, he could have perhaps recited a complete version of the Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra or maybe the Diamond Sutra at this moment, but he couldn’t.
When the Wither-Bloom Sage’s gaze fell once more on Carson’s face, transitioning from calm, to expectation, to disappointment, sweat ran down Carson’s forehead.
"Is that it, just this much? They sound philosophical but aren’t complete. If that’s the case, then you’re of no use either..."
Carson’s heart tightened abruptly, preparing to fight tooth and nail, while shouting, "The sea of suffering is boundless, a turn of the head is the shore. Lay down the butcher’s knife, and become a Buddha on the spot!"
