Chapter 65: Talk with Unknown Girl

Chapter 65: Talk with Unknown Girl

"Arrgghhh"

As Cael watched the blue moon above, suddenly the [captain] rank wraith started screaming.

Cael looked at the wraith as his eyes widened.

The wraith’s skin, which had been durable enough to withstand his sharp attacks, began to freeze.

Layer by layer, slowly but surely, the entire wraith’s body turned into an ice statue, leaving the head alone.

Letting the wraith scream in pain.

And one by one, the wraiths in the streets shouted in pain, as they too began turning into ice statues.

The burning streets lost their intensity as frost crept across broken stone and collapsed structures, replacing heat with a biting cold that seeped into everything it touched.

The air, once thick with smoke and ash, now carried a pale mist, drifting low across the ground like a silent tide.

-CRACK

Soon enough, small cracks started to appear on the ice statues.

Dark blood leaked from the cracks.

The wraiths were helpless; there was nothing they could do but suffer in painful agony.

The frozen forms trembled faintly before splitting further, each crack spreading like a web across their bodies.

The sound of ice fracturing echoed through the streets, sharp and brittle, mixing with fading screams as the battlefield shifted from chaos into something eerily still.

Cael felt a chill run down his spine as he glanced at the sky.

Floating in the air, Seraphina V. Hale looked at him with irritated eyes.

The massive blue moon behind her cast a cold glow across her figure, outlining her silhouette against the sky.

The light reflected faintly off shattered glass and frozen debris below, giving the entire district an unnatural stillness, as if the world itself had paused under her presence.

’Oh boy, I am done for.’

A guilty conscience hit him.

After all, Seraphina confined him in the academy for the next 3 years.

And what did Cael do?

He left the academy for a mission without notifying Seraphina.

And somehow that mission turned out to be a vampire’s hideout.

Even then, once the mission was complete, he needed to go back to the academy.

But no.

Cael came to District Neva, and this district had now become a war zone.

’Was my luck always this bad?’

Seraphina’s eyes shone with radiance as she said,

"Caelir Vayne, you’d better prepare an explanation."

Saying those words, she instantly moved towards the battlefield at the front.

Her figure vanished in a blur of cold light, leaving behind a faint ripple in the air as the temperature dropped even further in her wake.

The pressure she carried lingered for a moment before dispersing, but its effect remained etched into the surroundings.

Cael shook his head as his eyes paused on the [Captain] rank wraith.

Its inverted eyes rolled back.

It was dead.

The distant echoes of battle still lingered, though weakened, as surviving mana clashed faintly with dissipating miasma.

Frozen remnants of wraiths stood scattered across the streets like broken statues, marking where the battle had once raged uncontrollably.

Then Cael recalled the [General] rank wraith that was fighting the dark green-haired girl.

Taking a deep breath, Cael started moving toward the area where the [General] rank wraith and that girl were fighting.

Cael didn’t know who she was, but she was special.

After all, she was a Resonant.

The ground beneath his feet crunched softly as frost had already begun settling over the debris, turning scattered rubble brittle.

The path ahead was uneven, marked by collapsed walls and shattered structures, each step requiring careful footing as the battlefield slowly quieted.

Cael’s steps paused as he saw a broken ice statue, which was definitely the [General] rank wraith.

A little farther away, that girl was sitting on a broken building.

With slow steps, he approached her.

The remains of the battlefield surrounded her in silence, broken stone and frozen debris forming a jagged landscape.

A faint wind passed through the area, carrying small fragments of frost that drifted through the air before settling again.

The girl’s amber eyes flashed with the ferocity of a beast.

"Hm! What do you want?"

Cael paused and asked,

"Who are you?"

He asked his question directly; after all, he didn’t have much time left.

Who knew when Seraphina might return to give him a beating.

The girl tilted her head and said,

"Why do you care?"

Cael took a deep breath,

’I have many questions, but those are not something I can ask casually and carelessly.’

’Hm, looks like I need to give Black Lightning clone another mission.’

Deciding on his thoughts, Cael asked one question he wanted to know,

"You are a Resonant, aren’t you? Your class wasn’t low either."

The girl stood up, stretched her limbs, and asked,

"What of it?"

Cael took one step closer and asked,

"Tell me, how did you achieve it?"

Hearing his question, that girl jumped from the broken building, landing on the ground, and said,

"I will answer you, but you need to tell your class."

Cael hesitated, after all this girl was a stranger, but considering he was the one who initiated this conversation, he answered,

"Iridescent Monarch"

The girl muttered his class and said,

"Iridescent Monarch, you are not the one I was looking for."

Saying those words, she turned and started leaving.

Cael’s lips twitched, and he reminded her,

"Hey, tell me."

The dark green-haired girl’s steps paused, and she looked back over her shoulder, her amber eyes shining as she said,

"Resonance is far easier than you think. You are Titled as a monarch."

"All you have to do is act like one and think like one."

Cael shook his head; he already knew these details.

He overlooked the word Titled, thinking titled meant named.

The girl smiled and said,

"As I said, resonance is far easier than you think; the only problem is one’s own mindset and personality."

Then she started walking away while saying,

"Since you told me your class, I will tell you one major clue..."

"A true monarch never hides his power."

"A true monarch never bows down to his adversary."

"A true monarch never... shows mercy."
