Chapter 225: [225] Robbers (2)
Chapter 225: [225] Robbers (2)
If there were any guards left in this part of the castle, then maybe Eliron would be concerned by Yen’s obnoxious scream.
But since they were all alone, he hardly cared.
’To think I will run into them of all people...’
Although Eliron knew they were in the castle, he was not expecting them to be guarding the royal treasury.
Wasn’t Artie a new mage? Why then was she here? Eliron made a mental note to ask her when met later.
’It looks like the indoctrination ceremony is over at least...’
Artie was in her brand new mage uniform, and Eliron couldn’t help but stare at it longer than necessary.
She was in the classic witches hat and dark purple robe. The robe was unbuttoned, receiving the clothing underneth— a plain white shirt tucked into a flared checkered skirt, and thigh-highs that went up to her mid thigh.
Artie caught his stare and pushed herself away from the window sill she was resting on.
"You."
Eliron pointed at his chest. "Me?"
"Are you stupid? Who else would I be talking to?" She frowned before she continued. "From a man’s point of view, how do you think I look?"
Eliron blinked. "Heh?"
Just what was going on?
He glanced at Alexander, only to discover that he was hiding behind a pillar. He was well aware of Artie’s temperament and had decided to save his own skin.
"Do something about them!" He mouthed, his back pressed hard against the pillar.
’That bastard!’
Eliron cleared his throat. "Er... you look amazing."
Artie folded her hands across her chest. "Good enough to capture the heat of a very wicked man?"
’Wicked man? How am I a wicked man??’ Eliron’s jaw dropped underneath the mask.
Regardless, he nodded, agreeing with her.
Artie smiled, and glanced outside the window for a few seconds, seemingly in thought.
The moment she turned back, her face became cold, all mirth vanishing from her expression.
Her staff suddenly appeared next to her and she grabbed it, pointing it right at him.
"Thanks for the compliment, I’ll make sure to give you a painless death."
"Wait, what??"
TZZZZZ!
Yellow lightning surged out of her staff, scorching the floor just as it rushed towards Eliron.
He immediately dashed to the side as the lightning cut past, but just as he did, another bolt was already flying towards him, this one larger than the last.
Eliron planted his foot into the wall, using it to blast himself to the other side as the lightning crashed into the spot he had been, ripping a hole into the wall.
’Damn it!’
Artie was the last person Eliron had expected to encounter, and now she was putting a hole in his plans!
’Should I tell her who I am?’
It would have been an easy fix for their current dilemma, but this was the final hall that led to the treasury.
Eliron could not disregard the possibility of it being monitored with magic.
And apart from that, he was a little interested in this fight. How strong had Artie become? And how much would she grow if she was tossed into a life or death situation? Eliron was eager to know.
This was an opportunity he could not dream of passing up on.
’I’ll have to go a little easy on them though...’
He could not use his mana since there was a chance the Archmage would be able to trace it, and he did not have a sword in hand, just his good old stick.
But it was more than enough.
Eliron smirked from underneath the mask just as a chain, net of lighting began charging through the hall.
’Alright, let’s see just how much you have improved!"
Eliron charged right at the net of lighting then leaped at it.
He placed his arms tightly on his sides to make himself as straight as possible, then flew right though one of the holes, the lighting buzzing in his ears as he rushed past it.
More lighting came, Artie firing without taking a second to pause.
’She’s trying to maintain our distance.’
Eliron stepped to the left as a bolt of lightning viciously cut past his left ear, exploding into the wall behind him.
Artie slashed at the air with her staff and he jumped as another one came in a horizontal arch, flying right at his legs...
While in the air, Artie smirked and raised her staff. "Got you."
The lighting coiled around her staff, buzzing with pernicious energy, a malicious smile on her face as she charged up to a very unfriendly degree.
She had not launched it, yet the glow was so bright it was already reflecting in Eliron’s pupils.
Dodging in the sky was impossible due to the lack of foot hold, and he was too far to use the walls as a foot hold. But he had something else with him...
His trusty club!
Eliron tossed the club to the wall, and before it could fall, he placed his foot against its tip, pushing it to the wall.
The club has acted as a form of extension to give him contact with the wall!
"Good bye." Artie said, just as she unleashed her lighting spell.
BANG!
But as the condensed currents raced towards Eliron, he launched his body to the other side, the lighting tearing through the ceiling and flying into the night sky instead.
"Tch." Artie hissed.
’He managed to dodge that?’ She frowned as she watched him land, picking his club and twirling it in his hand with ease.
’No matter...’ she had just begun after all, there was still far more she could do to bring him down...
Eliron was not going to give Artie any time to think. He immediately sprinted forward, his club striking down, only for it to bounce against a pure golden shield.
Yen was glaring at him from behind, her hand raised towards the battlefield. She seemed to be underestimating him because the spell was not nearly as strong as her regular shield.
’A deadly mistake—’
Eliron raised his hand up as he stared at the shield.
The muscles of his arm contracted and he took in a sharp breath, just before he slammed his fist right into the shield—
Bang!
His fist punctured a hole right in its surface, cracks ran through the entirety of the shield and then it shattered like glass, golden sparks dissipating into the air.
Artie’s eyes widened for a moment, but she did not allow herself to be distracted, as Eliron was already upon her.
Without using mana, he would be considerably weaker, but... let’s see how it goes.
Eliron closed the distance between himself and Artie in a heartbeat, but instead of sprinting back, Artie rushed forward.
Eliron swung his club right at her head, but Artie blocked it with her staff, rotating the weapon in her hands as she blocked many more attacks.
She took a step back, and then a bright light exploded outwards, stunning Eliron. He closed his eyes and stepped back, just as Artie’s fist came, ramming into his gut.
Eliron stumbled back a few steps then raised his hand to block another blow. Arie went for an elbow jab, just Eliron side stepped it, appearing right at her back.
He raised his leg and drove it forward, but her body flickered and vanished. Elrion felt a small gust of wind as Artie suddenly appeared by his side, her fist charging towards the side of his head.
Bang!
Without missing a beat, Eliron raised his arm and blocked, a small gust of wind cutting past them from the force of the impact.
She smiled, her sharp nails inches away from his face.
Her eyes narrowed as she chuckled. "Not bad. It seems you’re a little more than a petty thief. Tell me, who really are you?"
Eliron stared at her with his side eye. "Let’s keep private matters private shall we?
Artie smiled. "Hmmm..." she hummed in a voice that was more sensual than it should have been. "I guess I’ll have to force it out of you then..."
"Good luck with that my lady, I’m a pretty tough nut to crack."
Swish!
Artie jumped back before launching three orbs of light towards Eliron.
He raced across the room, dodging the first one. The moment it touched the floor, it exploded, creating a blinding wave of light.
Eliron narrowly evaded the next one, then threw his bat at the last one, the orb exploding on contact. Then using the blinding light as a cover, Artie closed the distance and unleashed another attack...
A spinning heel kick that cut through the air with a vengeance, one that was coated with lightning mana!
Bam!
Eliron blocked with his shin, a mix of blunt and electrifying pain surging through his muscles as they burned.
"Ouch..."
"Be a man." Artie chuckled.
He delivered a number jab towards her face, Artie managed to dodge most of them, but one caught her square in the jaw, knocking her back.
Now it was Eliron’s turn to laugh as they circled each other.
"Haven’t you heard it’s rude to hit a lady in her face?"
Eliron shrugged. "I’m all for equal rights."
Artie wiped her jaw. "I see..." she said, just before she stormed right back into the dance of battle.
Eliron twisted his head to the side as a blow narrowly missed his head, raised his arm to deflect another, then raised his guard as an explosive kick sent him flying back.
Before he could recover from the attack, Artie leaped into the air, bringing her heel down in a deadly ark.
The heel exploded into the ground where Eliron had been, cracking both the tiles and the concrete underneath...
"Sheesh!" Eliorn exclaimed as he glanced at her, only to swallow.
Artie had landed in a perfect split, revealing a lot of thigh as her robe spread out at her back and her staff pointed forward.
It was scorching hot, there was no lie there, but there was something far more concerning.
’When did she resummon her staff?!’
She cocked her head, a nasty smirk on her face as her magic surged out of her staff. "Lazer."
A large beam of concentrated light spewed out of her weapon, decimating the area Eliron was.
BOOOOM!
Dust filled the room, obscuring the entire place.
"Did you get him?" Yennefer asked from behind, trying to peer through the cloud.
Once the dust began to settle, Eliron was standing with his back against the wall, a large hole on the wall next to him, and the side of his mask burned open, revealing scorched skin underneath.
He smirked as he watched Artie, his eyes filled with amusement.
"Not bad, not bad at all..."
’I guess it’s about time I stopped playing around.’
