The Elven Evolution: Starting With 1 Million SSSR Skills

Chapter 205: [205] Grand Mage Sirius

Chapter 205: [205] Grand Mage Sirius

’H-how is this possible??’ Alexander thought as he stared at the vast arena.

For as long as he could remember, the Magic Tower had always had frequent clashes with the royal family.

The mages of the tower were just too proud and unyielding. This made them difficult to control, and a tool without control was nothing but a potential liability.

But they were strong, undoubtedly so, as such, losing them was a liability as well.

Power was a scary thing.

Never would he have imagined that these proud mages would be put to submission by one man!

Ciera was holding onto his shirt, barely stopping herself from trembling in the presence of the monster Eliron had summoned.

It was not using its aura on them, but just the sight of it was enough to put anyone on edge.

Alexander stared at it, and for a moment, he blanked out.

The word became black, countless gears turning in his mind’s eye as he plunged himself into a state of complete focus.

The death march has begun...

The city was doomed to fall.

But... that was when he had not added Eliron into his calculations.

As [Higher Cognitive Function] began to do its magic, Alex considered every single scenario, every potential mistake, his enemy’s strengths, their flaws...

Everything that seemed to be even remotely important, he churned into his calculations.

And then—-

"Haaaaa—!"

His eyes suddenly widened as he returned to reality, a crazed smile on his face. "I need to talk to it!"

"The demon?!" Ciera’s fingers dug into his arm. "No, you mustn’t, my prince!" She cautioned.

He turned to face her then patted her head. "I must. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine."

"Please can you watch over her, my lady?" He asked, addressing Yennefer.

She eyed him for a few seconds then sighed. "Don’t get yourself killed."

Reluctantly, Ciera took a step away from him, her eyes teary.

Alexander nodded reassuringly, and then hurried towards the herald, who was standing at the center of the arena, its gaze pointed upward.

"Umm...."

’What do I even say to an otherworldly beast?!’

It would be rather melancholic if he was to be killed because of poor manners.

"Good er... afternoon sir!"

The monster turned around, searching the air but finding nothing. Then it brought down its gaze, its sinister eyes meeting Alex’s.

Alex swallowed. The hair all over his body had stood still, and he could feel electric tingles on his skin.

"What do you wish for, mortal?" The voice rang inside Alex’s head, nearly making him jump out of his own skin.

"I..."

Alex shook his head, mentally reassuring himself.

"I wish to get a better look at the battle outside. I will not escape, just—"

"You are not part of the people I was instructed to keep here." The herald answered, interrupting him.

There was a moment of silence, during which the monster seemed to be contemplating.

’Strang !’ Alex thought.

"Still, I would not want to offend my rod by letting you leave. You may approach the windows, but if you make a single attempt to flee..."

There was a short pause.

Alex expected the monster to add to his statement, but all he was greeted with was silence.

"Um. Thank you?" He bowed before racing towards the nearest window.

Cracking sounds reached his ears as he stepped atop broken glass, and then he immediately stuffed his head through the frame, glancing up at the skies—

BANG!

A shockwave crashed into the tower, nearly causing him to lose his balance. Thankfully, he held the frame tight, preventing his fall.

God knows he would have died before he touched the ground, if his ashes were not blown away by the wind.

Alex took a deep breath then stared up.

[Magnify]

It was a simple but handy spell that had helped him out in many situations.

His vision expanded until he could see the two mages in the sky, but after watching them for a few seconds, Alex’s mouth dropped.

Lightning danced through the clouds, spells he did not know existed were being thrown around like they were nothing...

But what shocked him the most, the sight that would forever be etched in his mind was the flaming orb of fire.

Alex wiped the small drool that was about to drip down his mouth then smirked, the gears in his mind turning once more.

"Th-this... this might be it."

"The city might yet be saved!"

Now, all he had to do was convince the elven lord to not kill him first, at least not until he had heard his proposal....

<•••>

Eliron stared at the mage in white, the one whose very presence caused the atmosphere to shift.

The Archmage was a character that appeared several times in the novel. A faerie who often disguised himself in his current human form.

But more importantly, The Archmage, Sirius was the one who created [Spatial Distortion], one of Eliron’s favorite SSS-R skills.

That was how he had made Eliron’s fireball disappear.

The Archmage turned to stare at Eliron, his gaze confident, but cautious.

"Are you the one that summoned that horrid thing in the tower? I can sense its sinister energy from up here."

Eliron did a small, amused bow. "Elven Lord Eliron, pleased to make your acquaintance."

"I cannot say the same." His eyebrows grew closer, a hint of his rage showing on his face. "You stormed into my tower, beat the Grand Mage within an inch of his life and took my students hostage."

"You made me leave the comfort of my most precious books, this is an offense worthy of death."

Although Sirius was trying to reign in his power, due to his rage, a little of his mana seeped out, curling around him like a mist.

"Release my students at once, or I will not spare a single hair on your head!" He pouted and pointed an accusing finger at Eliron.

It was cute... although he was several centuries old, Eliron couldn’t help but imagine him like a kid throwing a tantrum.

Still, was not joking, Eliron could see it in his eyes. But Eliron was no pushover.

"It seems there is a misunderstanding here, Arch Mage." Eliron stared down at him with an aloof expression on his face.

"It seems my respect for you has been misinterpreted for weakness."

Snap!

Eliron snapped his fingers, something that was beginning to become his signature move.

Following his gesture, a large rift tore open above his head, and out of it, the spell Sirius had warped away appeared, the [meteor] glowing in its full destructive glory.

Eliron had always expected the Arch Mage to arrive, and he was anticipating it.

Although Azarath had caused the issue, it was ultimately the fault of the tower.

His plan was to have Artie fairly compensated for their blunder, and punish Azarath, all while gaining something that would be beneficial to Artaris in the process.

For that, he needed someone with authority greater than that of the Grand Mage.

But knowing the Arch Mage’s temperament, he had made preparations ahead of time by tagging his spell.

It didn’t matter what dimension it was moved to, he would always be able to bring it back.

"That spell..." Sirius stared at him in disbelief. "It’s mine...?"

Eliron’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly as he regarded them. "I thought you were here to negotiate, but it seemed I was—"

"Woah, woah woah! Of course I am here to negotiate, hahaha—!" Sirus laughed nervously as he stared up at the flaming ball.

’Heh? Is he serious right now?’ Eliron watched him suspiciously.

He had actually expected a fight, or a short tussle at least...

"Of course, a democratic approach is always better than a bullish fight, don’t you agree?"

"But you were just saying—"

"Nonsense! It was just a test of course!"

’That is an SSS combination spell isn’t it?!’ Sirius panicked internally.

’It’s not a problem for me since I can always escape, but if that thing hits the tower, it will obliterate my library!!!’

Sirius had painstakingly gathered those books for over centuries. One of them was far more valuable than the life of even the grand mage!

"What is it you want? Shall I kill this buffoon behind me?"

"Archmage—"

"Quiet child! I blame you for everything, can’t you keep the tower quiet for five minutes without causing a ruckus?! I swear, you kids will be the death of me!"

After saying everything in one breath, he turned to Eliron, and an innocent, childish smile appeared on his face.

"Shall we go inside?"

Eliron blinked. "I guess I should get rid of this then?" He asked, motioning at the spell.

"Yes. Please."

"Alright then..."
