The Dragon's Pact: A Princess for the Flame

Chapter 4 – Jungle Warfare

Chapter 4 – Jungle Warfare

Su Nian dashed out of the cave into the night.

The cold wind was biting, and dense clouds gathered in the distance, brewing a storm.

The moon hid wearily behind the clouds, leaving the surroundings in darkness, with only a few stars standing guard.

Dragon vision was somewhat akin to night vision goggles, but with a red background, allowing Su Nian to clearly capture moving life forms in the dark.

Night was the time for predators to hunt.

And in this ordinary forest, Su Nian was undoubtedly one of the more lethal ones.

Bloodstains and scales were scattered at the cave entrance, all his, which heightened his vigilance.

Su Nian's dragon face furrowed.

He thought to himself that this cave couldn't be stayed in for long; once his body recovered, he had to find a new place to avoid the human army tracking him through his blood trail.

In modern times, people could accurately track someone without magic, let alone in a world with transcendent powers, where tracking someone might be even easier.

Moreover, he honestly disliked his dark and damp lair.

He needed to speed up.

With this thought, Su Nian controlled his dragon body and swiftly darted into the forest.

Relying on his clear vision and keen sense of smell, he quickly spotted a lone elk.

This wasn't dinner for little Anna, but for himself.

His thoughts were very clear.

In half an hour, he would become weak, and if he didn't replenish enough food, he might starve to death during his weakness.

So he needed to fill his own stomach first before finding some berries for Anna.

The Dragon's Might naturally spread out, without any awkwardness, as Su Nian became more familiar with his new body.

Dragon's Might was one of a dragon's weapons; for creatures of a lower tier, it instilled immense fear, as if they had encountered a natural enemy.

For creatures with weaker willpower, Dragon's Might could even have a paralyzing effect.

The elk seemed injured, already very weak, and under Su Nian's Dragon's Might, it collapsed directly to the ground.

Without much thought, Su Nian swung his dragon tail, using all four limbs to pant his way to the elk and bit its neck.

Warm blood flowed out, warming Su Nian's long-thirsty stomach.

The pungent smell of blood filled his mouth, initially feeling a bit nauseating, but he quickly adapted.

Su Nian gradually savored the taste of fresh meat, and the blood in his mouth became incredibly sweet.

He began to bite down hard on the elk's throat, greedily sucking its blood.

At that moment, a rustling sound came from behind Su Nian, followed by the whimpering howls of wolves.

The branches of the bushes were pushed aside, and three silver-gray giant wolves leaped out, their eyes wary as they looked at Su Nian, glancing back and forth between the elk and him.

Su Nian didn't release the elk's throat from his dragon mouth.

"Roar—"

Facing the three ill-intentioned giant wolves, a violent emotion filled his mind, causing him to let out a low growl.

This reminded Su Nian of the dog at his grandfather's house when he was a child.

Goodness, was he guarding his food?!

The funny thing was, Su Nian knew he was guarding his food, yet he found it hard to control this emotion!

Su Nian's Dragon's Might undoubtedly took effect; these giant wolves were obviously very hungry, their eyes glowing green, and saliva dripping from their mouths.

If it were any other creature, they would have pounced without hesitation, but Su Nian gave them a sense of bloodline oppression.

So even though they were extremely hungry, they hesitated to advance.

No wonder they dared to provoke him; not only did they band together, but they were also quite strong.

But Su Nian was a dragon.

Even the second weakest Black Dragon was far beyond what these ordinary magical beasts could challenge.

Before the Silver Moon Wolves could attack, Su Nian had already released the elk from his mouth, his throat slightly bulging, and a strong Acid Breath sprayed over them.

The Black Dragon's Acid Breath was dark green, not only highly corrosive but also somewhat toxic.

Usually stored in a liquid state in a special sac in the throat.

When needed, the sac would contract violently under muscle control, expelling the acidic liquid.

In truth, Su Nian didn't like his Acid Breath.

It had no flair; as a dragon, shouldn't he be breathing fire?

"Hiss—"

Despite Su Nian's disdain for his breath, its effect was evident.

Wherever the breath covered, flowers and grass quickly turned black and withered, emitting wisps of smoke and a pungent acidic smell.

The Dragonbreath's range was wide, and the three Silver Moon Wolves bore the brunt of it. Despite their efforts to dodge, they still got some of the acidic Dragonbreath on them.

Their skin and flesh corroded rapidly, and their once shiny fur became pitted, the continuous pain causing them to howl miserably.

At that moment, Su Nian moved.

After using Dragonbreath, it needed time to recharge, and now that he had weakened the enemy, Su Nian's next move was to engage in close combat.

His sharp dragon claws gripped the ground tightly as he crawled forward, his dragon tail swaying to maintain balance, his long neck retracting, ready to strike; at such a close distance, there was no need to take flight.

In just a breath or two, Su Nian was upon one of the Silver Moon Wolves.

His front claws dug fiercely into the Silver Moon Wolf's flesh, his long neck twisting to avoid the wolf's counter-bite, then he opened his dragon maw and bit down hard on the wolf's neck.

"Crunch—" With a sound, his sharp teeth, with immense biting force, tore through the Silver Moon Wolf's throat.

Doing this for the first time, he used a bit too much force, tearing off a large portion of the Silver Moon Wolf's neck.

This series of actions seemed to be ingrained in the muscle memory of Su Nian's dragon body, done instinctively.

After killing one Silver Moon Wolf, the remaining two were no longer a threat.

Seeing Su Nian's ferocity, they tried to flee, but could they outrun a Black Dragon with wings?

Soon, Su Nian caught up and killed them both.

After all this, the surrounding bushes were in disarray.

Following his dragon instincts, Su Nian dragged the elk and one of the Silver Moon Wolf's bodies to a tall tree.

After devouring them ravenously, he finally felt a hint of fullness in his empty stomach.

Time was running out.

Su Nian didn't bother with the two wolf carcasses on the grass.

He darted through the forest, using his bloodline memory and system prompts to find some berries edible for humans.

Then he rolled in a stream to wash off the blood scent, rolled in the grass to cover himself in the fragrance of leaves, and cautiously returned to his lair.

Su Nian wasn't doing this for appearances.

It was a method taught by the Black Dragon's memory to make his lair safer.

He brought back the berries, but a new problem arose.

Su Nian found that Anna, who had been in good condition when he left, was now curled up in a corner of the rock wall, unconscious. Her small hand lay weakly on the cold ground, covered with a bear skin, but she was barely clinging to life.
