The Dragon's Pact: A Princess for the Flame

Chapter 20 – The Destruction of the Gale Bandit Gang

Chapter 20 – The Destruction of the Gale Bandit Gang

Su Nian had been observing from nearby for a while. Seeing the bandits gather together, he realized they had already completed the task of grouping themselves. What was there to hesitate about?

As for that mage? Not a cleric, anyway.

Sorry, adventurers without any use are treated as enemies just the same.

Su Nian glided over, his wings flapping as he circled back and unleashed a second wave of Dragonbreath. The potent acidic breath descended from the sky. Although its power was reduced, the area it covered expanded exponentially.

"It's a Black Dragon! Scatter, quickly!" A quick-reacting bandit had already started warning the others.

"Kyle, my eyes hurt so much, I can't see!"

"Help me, I don't want to die..."

The acidic Dragonbreath didn't immediately kill the bandits in the woods but corroded their exposed organs, especially their eyes.

The bandits screamed in terror, running blindly through the forest. At this moment, the kobolds following Su Nian began to play their part.

Or rather, it was the traps the kobolds had set up in advance that were playing their part.

A bandit, whose vision was affected by the acidic Dragonbreath, clutched his eyes and stumbled near a bush. His whole body was in burning pain, the acid seeping through his collar, corroding his flesh and blood.

He needed water! A stream!

Familiar with the surroundings, he managed to find the path to the stream despite his blurred vision. However, he didn't see the tripwires and spike traps hidden in the grass.

The kobolds lurking in the nearby bushes watched with vicious eyes, pulling the tripwire tight as the bandit passed.

The bandit felt a sudden obstruction at his ankle, and then he lost his balance, falling into the hidden spike trap ahead.

"Thud!"

"Argh—"

Sharp stone and bone spikes pierced into the bandit's body, eliciting a painful wail.

"When these tall humans lie flat in the traps, they are shorter than us!"

A kobold sneered, leaping out from the nearby bushes. Bending down, it easily slit the bandit's throat with a rusty knife and fork.

Similar scenes unfolded throughout the forest. The kobolds' traps covered almost every possible escape route for the bandits.

Poisonous insects, fire oil, pit traps—most bandits fell into these traps. Even if they didn't die on the spot, they would soon be surrounded and killed by kobolds emerging from the grass.

Enemies killed by followers also counted as Su Nian's kills, not affecting his acquisition of System Points. He hovered in the sky, watching those lucky enough not to trigger any traps.

Faced with these panicked escapees, he only needed to swoop down, grab them with his sharp dragon claws, and drop them from high above. Ordinary Tier 1 bandits would die from the fall.

Soon, with the kobolds' cooperation, all the bandits lay in pools of blood except for the bandit leader.

And Su Nian gained 786 System Points in one go.

He ordered Polikri and the kobolds to clean up the battlefield, then walked leisurely to Joseph, his menacing dragon head held high, cold dragon eyes flickering with murderous intent.

Joseph trembled all over, kneeling on the ground. In less than a minute, the bandit group he had painstakingly managed for years was destroyed.

"Great True Dragon!"

He grovelled on the ground, wishing he could bury himself in the dirt, clutching grass with tears and snot flowing as he pleaded:

"Please don't kill me, I'll give you money, yes, Golden Lions, I have hundreds of Golden Lions! As long as you let me go, they're all yours!"

Recalling the dragons' love for money, hope rekindled in Joseph's eyes. He shakily raised his head, only to be met by a sharp dragon claw.

"Crack—!"

[Killed Tier 2 Human Warrior, gained 11 System Points]

Joseph was dead.

Half of his head was missing, his body flew like a haystack hit by a bison, crashing into a stump.

Killing brought joy to the dragon! Su Nian snorted contentedly, lifting his dragon head. One dragon wing blocked Anna's view, while the other claw wiped the mixture of blood and brain matter on the grass.

Then he kicked Joseph's half head into the bushes, finally lowering the wing that blocked Anna's sight.

Little Lolita shouldn't see too much bloodshed; Su Nian wanted to protect her innocence.

He was increasingly embracing his role as a dragon. Now, killing a bandit like this barely stirred any emotion in him.

The female mage was dead, corroded by Dragonbreath, lying in the center where she was hit by two waves of acidic breath.

Now, nothing remained but a puddle of black water, with only the Mithril Staff and Magic Ring left behind.

Su Nian picked up the mage's ring with his dragon claw, shook the acid off the staff, and held it in his mouth before turning to the despondent Tier 2 warrior.

[Disheartened Blazer - Level 15 - Tier 2 Warrior (Weakling)]

Hope you don't wander the forest with your little girlfriend in your next life. There are not only lecherous bandits but also unreasonable evil dragons here.

Thinking this, Su Nian killed the already broken-spirited warrior, gaining 16 System Points with a heavy heart.

Back and forth, he had over 800 System Points now, with the Basic Forge beckoning to him.

When Su Nian returned to Polikri and the kobolds with Anna, he found them joyfully hauling the junk looted from the bandits.

This was one of the kobolds' traits—they would loot all spoils from defeated enemies, even the hard ribs from corpses.

So when he saw a kobold happily putting a bandit's underwear on its head, Su Nian wasn't surprised.

He remembered this kobold and planned to assign it to guard the nest entrance daily, never allowing it into the Dragon Nest.

Of course, the treasure chest the bandit leader used to store Golden Lions was also found by the kobolds. What a joke, with "dog" in their name, there's nothing hidden physically that kobolds can't find.

"We have achieved a grand victory, but all glory belongs to our great master!"

Polikri stood on a half-human-high rock, holding a newly acquired longsword, though its strength was somewhat lacking, making its effort to hold up the sword look rather comical.

Facing its kobold followers, it loudly delivered a post-battle speech as a chieftain:

"Dragon scales harden our skin, dragon bones support our skulls, dragon hearts ignite our magic. We stand for the dragon, long live the dragon! Long live our great master!"

Polikri raised its arm high, and the kobolds followed suit, raising their spoils and barking "Woof woof woof."

In Su Nian's ears, it roughly translated to:

"Great, master! Long live woof woof woof!"
