Chapter 37

Anastasia Shelton is a desperate girl of eighteen who entered the red light area two years ago.

When she was four years old her mother married a man who was four years younger to her. Larry was the owner of a departmental store who used to supply daily provisions at the old age home. Larry was an orphan.

Since the time Ana's mother joined the old age home as a helper, he had his eyes on her. Initially Aria was hesitant. She only could look at him like a younger brother but his constant support to her in taking care of her daughter Ana and giving her a job as a cashier in his own departmental store had brought soft vibes in her.

Aria slowly began to like him like a woman towards her man. The veterans in the home also supported her choice. After all there is a day following every night.

One day before everyone, Larry proposed to Aria with a ring and her happiness was boundless. It was an unexpected surprise for her. Finally God wanted to make her happy after testing her for so long. She readily agreed to his proposal and three months later they got married in a church in the presence of all senior citizens who are no less than parents for both of them.

Little Anastasia began to grow up with the love and affection of so many retirees though she had no grandparents to call of her own. Aria would leave her at the old age home and join her husband at the departmental store.

Anastasia was not a cranky child. She would stay at the retiree's home until her parents arrived. On the other side the veterans too liked the little bundle of joy. She was a new release of energy for the sick and abandoned people.

Days rolled by easily in Aria's life. Her life wasn't as bad as she thought. Better days were round the corner. She got a loving husband and caring father for Ana who could look after her like his own daughter.

Two years later...

Larry's business began to grow. "You are my lucky lady." He twirled Aria around in delight when he came back home after the day's business.

"What are you doing Larry, what's the good news about?" Aria asked in joy.

"Our business had made two million in profit this year and so as a gift to you, I bought us a bigger house. It has three bedrooms, a medium kitchen and a moderately sized sitting room with a small lawn. Aria..." Larry cupped her cheeks.

"Since the day you came into my life, I have never looked back." He spoke in jubilance.

"I am happy for your success. Give me ten minutes, I will bake a fruit cake for you. By the way, where is our new house?" Aria asked with curiosity.

"It is near Central Park." The smile on Aria's features lifted off. "But, Central park is very far away from the old age home? Where will Ana stay when we go to work?"

Larry only nodded, dejected. "I couldn't afford such a big house in the city."

Aria understood she had taken a wrong move. She immediately went and hugged Larry. "It is okay. Ana will start going to school in another three months. We will not have any problems." She smiled showing enthusiasm and pecked Larry's lips.

Just then four year old Ana came from the bath without a towel and water slipping off her little body. "Mommy, I took a bath today without your help." She cheered.

"That's a great thing to know." Aria complimented her but unfortunately what she did not notice was Larry's eyes going darker with lust looking at the child's nudity.

Why did Larry marry Aria, was it for her or for her beautifully growing daughter?

And the destruction of the innocent little girl started from that day.

She is just sixteen when she did not even know what is sexual abuse and she was subjected to molestation by her step dad in the absence of her mother.

Larry, Ana's step father, brought new men every day to her. As the days progressed, he got addicted to committing the crime more often. And everyday after Aria, Ana's mother went to the departmental store it became his routine to put Ana into the shameless business. He blackmailed her that it was a secret between him and her and she should never share the issue with her mother because Aria would hate her and abandon her.

Ana was frightened to her core by his threats. She kept her father's assaults on her a secret and believed the discomfort caused by him was a part of living. As she began to put up with her age, Larry's greed increased and so did his contempt. She was just seventeen when she saw the new side of him.

It was the time of her exams and Ana was studying for her next day's test. "What are you doing here reading your stupid school books? These are of no use when you can earn much more selling your body." An evil smile dawned on his lips. He threw the books into the fireplace, burning them in ashes.

Actually Larry hadn't just burnt her books, it was her life that he destroyed in the name of one of the most sacred relationships a girl recognizes a man in her family - A father.

Pulling her legs apart Larry lit a cigarette and placed it between her lips. "Come on enjoy the f*ck." He encouraged her as one of the pigs went sucking her center and two others on her globes. Tears boomed her eyes and that was the day Ana was fully demolished.

She peered at Larry with vengeance, a kind of hatred a daughter should never have towards her father but Larry was least bothered about her feelings. He was earning the money through her and it was all that mattered.

Ana began to abhor her own body and called herself a slut. But the man who actually spoiled her was her step dad. It was too late for her to realize her step father was indirectly molesting her. He earned, selling his daughter among various men. The only excuse he gave her was - the treatment of her sick mother.

Ana was nine when her mother was diagnosed with coronary heart disease. Larry spent most of the money she earned for his drinks and whores and spent a small bit on her mother's medical expenses.

Ana had no way but to seal her lips on everything because she was too young to support her mother independently. Her innocence was lost when she was just sixteen. She had seen the worst world. Ana did not have the childhood all the children of her age had. While her friends burn midnight oil to study for exams she did the same thing but gave pleasure to various men.

As if it wasn't the end of her torture one day Aria caught Larry fucking her daughter when she was seventeen. She opposed him strongly, where the altercation went physical. Larry was drunk, he beat her with an iron rod which accidentally hit her head instead of her arm.

Aria began to bleed and eventually lost consciousness. Her mother was the only reason she was bearing with the beast she once called her father. Now there was no reason to stay silent when he attempted to harm her mother. She would no more stand his abuse. Ana decided not to sit quietly and bear with Larry. She was about to retort back when he fled from the house fearing the cops.

Being the witness of molestation of her daughter in the hands of her husband caused an unfathomable shock in Aria. She failed as a mother in protecting her daughter. The feeling of guilt began to consume her like poison in her veins which eventually led her to lose her memory.

She could not recognize her own daughter an hour after the incident when she gained consciousness. Ana admitted her mother into a nursing home for treatment but she did not know how she was going to pay for the medical bills. She had no education. Ana could not graduate even from her school to take a waitress job. The only thing she learnt in her sixteen years of life, thanks to her step father was fucking men.

And that night she died completely sacrificing her dignity to save her sick mother.
