The Devil Who Claimed Me

Chapter 26: Effect of the drug

Chapter 26: Effect of the drug

Dominic’s eyes were blazing red in fury.

The moment Ethan looked up from the floor and met his gaze, a chill ran down his spine.

That look – it was murderous.

Ethan swallowed hard. The words he was about to say died down in his throat. The urge to fight back disappeared as well.

Dominic continued shooting a deadly glare at him. He wanted nothing but to finish him right there.

One move. That was all it would take. But then, he heard Mila’s weak whimper from behind. He immediately turned around and saw her in a messy state.

Her clothes were torn. Her skin was flushed unusually; her eyes were unfocused. It was clear she was drugged.

This realization only fueled his anger. He wished to beat Ethan until he bled to death. But Mila’s condition alarmed him.

’I need to take her out of here. Now.’

Suppressing the storm inside his chest, he shrugged off his jacket and draped it over Mila’s trembling body, covering her exposed skin.

Mila immediately clutched the jacket tightly. Relief flooded her face when she saw Dominic.

"You... you came," she whispered.

"I am here." He held her in his arms.

Mila clung to him, her fingers gripping his shirt. "Thank you...I was drugged. Please take me out of here."

"We are leaving." He lifted her in his arms carefully. Before leaving, he turned his head slowly and shot Ethan a warning glare.

"If you think this ends here, you are wrong." His voice carried a terrifying weight. "You have no idea who you have messed with."

He walked out.

Ethan remained on the floor for several moments before slowly standing up. His legs were shaking slightly. His suit jacket was wrinkled, and his hair had fallen messily over his forehead. When he looked toward the door, he noticed several employees gathering there, whispering and peering into the office.

"What are you looking at?" Ethan roared. "Go back to work."

Everyone jumped in fright. Within seconds, the corridor emptied as the staff scattered.

Ethan clenched his fists, his face twisting in rage. "That woman," his voice trembled. "I’ll make her pay for this."

Inside the car...

Mila leaned on Dominic, her hands exploring his body.

Dominic stiffened. It took everything for him to restrain himself. But he didn’t want to give in to the urge yet.

"Mila, can you sit quietly for a while?" He gritted his teeth, trying to push her away a little.

But the drug’s effect was only increasing. The heat was unbearable. Mila coiled her arms even tighter around his neck.

"My body is burning," she whispered. "Help me." She slid her fingers slowly to his chest.

"Mila..." Before he could react, she leaned forward and pressed her lips against his neck.

Dominic stiffened further. His body had already started reacting to her. Still, he said, "Stop it, now."

But she didn’t. The drug had clouded her mind. She kissed him, this time on his chin.

"Help me." Her hot breath fell on his face, making it worse.

He wanted to pull her into his embrace. But instead, he pushed her away gently.

Mila’s trembling body only pressed closer to him.

"Please. Don’t push me away."

Dominic dropped his head on the back of the seat and closed his eyes. His resistance slowly crumbled.

"Pull over," he commanded. "And get out of the car."

The driver quickly parked the car and stepped out without a word. As soon as the car door closed and only two of them were left inside, Dominic pressed her against the seat and kissed her hard.

"You asked for this," he rasped. "Now, don’t blame me."

He kissed her again. The kiss was intense and hurried, driven by urgency. There was no tenderness.

Moments later, the quiet interior filled with the sound of heavy breathing and whispers.

Mila’s body arched against his, her fingernails digging into his shoulders. "Oh, um... I’m coming. Don’t stop."

In a few thrusts, she reached the peak. She cried in ecstasy, her body trembling beneath him.

Dominic held her close to his chest. "Are you satisfied now?" he asked slowly.

"Hmm." She could barely open her eyes. Her exhausted body leaned on him limply.

By the time the car reached the apartment, Mila had already fallen asleep in Dominic’s arms. He carried her inside and gently placed her on the bed. He pulled the blanket over her. Instead of leaving instantly, he stood by the bed, watching her.

"You foolish woman," he muttered. "You could have told me instead."

His features hardened. "Let me deal with that bastard first. Then I’ll talk to you."

He quickly left the room.

Her phone rang inside her bag, but neither of them heard it.

Across the city, Max frowned as another of his calls went unanswered. "What’s wrong with her? Why is she not picking up the phone?"

Ever since he had received Mila’s boyfriend’s report, he had been restless. The report clearly stated that there was no severe brain damage, no blood clot, nothing that could trigger amnesia.

It was obvious – the man was faking it. And it worried Max greatly. He wanted to warn Mila, but none of his calls were being answered.

"She might be busy dealing with the patients. I’ll drop her a message instead. She will call me back."

He typed a message quickly: ’Call me immediately when you are free. There is something important I need to tell you about your boyfriend. It’s urgent.’

He sent it, hoping she would reach out to him soon.

Meanwhile, Dominic stood on the balcony outside his room, speaking on the phone.

"Lucas." His voice was gentle, but the underlying anger was unmistakable. "I want to wipe out the existence of Shaw Group from the city."

"Why are you interfering in their affairs?" Lucas asked, anxious. "You should focus on your mission. The island is ready. We can leave any time."

Dominic’s gaze turned icy. "Mila is mine now. Her matters are my matters. No one can bully her."

His tone left no room for argument.

There was a pause on the other end. Then Lucas sighed in resignation. Only now did he understand that the ruthless mafia king had fallen in love.

"I promised I would always support you, no matter what," he said. "Since you like her, we’ll accept her. But let me tell you something." His tone turned even more serious. "This won’t be easy for you."

Dominic didn’t respond.

"It’s about her choice. Will she accept you after knowing who you really are? What are you going to do if she wants to break up with you?"

"Instead of asking questions, just do as I say," Dominic grumbled. "As for Mila – she is my problem. I’ll deal with her."

Lucas chuckled. "Fine. The Shaw Group will start collapsing soon. Ethan will come begging Mila."
