Chapter 152: The devil’s humanity"What are you talking about?"
Mingshen smirked. "It’s cute when you act ignorant~ Do you still have my love letter I so passionately handed to you that day?"
Jia scowled. "I had already thrown it away. It was useless to give it to me."
She ignored him altogether and continued rubbing the back of her knee to alleviate some pain.
"So you have nothing to say about the fact that you practically drowned and you didn’t even notice it?"
"I didn’t drown."
"That’s because I didn’t let you," his brow arched. "Otherwise you were all set to greet the sea."
Jia glared at him, irked. "Why do you care about it anyway? I was just walking a little deeper into the sea and I stumbled. It was hard to balance myself with the crutch and all. It’s as simple as that."
"Is it now?"
He stared at her, seemingly scrutinizing her answer.
She cleared her throat. "Thank you for saving me, but it was just an unfortunate accident."
She went back to massaging her knee again when he said, "Stop. Lift your skirt."
Her mouth twitched. "Excuse me?"
"Do you not trust me?" He asked with a shady smile.
"No," was her instantaneous response.
He sighed in defeat. "Then it will be heartbreaking for little chilli to hear the news of her sister’s near drowning-"
"No! Why are you bringing Lihua in between all of this? You don’t need to tell her anything! Okay? It was just an accident, nothing else! You will get her all worried for no reason and I don’t want that. I am fine. I am really fine!"
Jia exclaimed while she gasped simultaneously. She looked as if she ran a marathon with her chest heaving back and forth.
Mingshen tilted his head, his black irises watching her like a hawk. "It wasn’t necessary to be that aggressive."
Her breaths slowed down and she narrowed her eyes. "You are unpredictable. I never know what you will do."
"Very convenient to blame it on me, isn’t it?" He smiled.
Mingshen then took out an ice pack from the bag that the receptionist had given him. Jia then realized that it was to treat her pain. She coughed and slightly pulled her dress back.
He lifted her knee, placing the ice pack beneath it. Jia slightly shuddered with the chilliness. He then took out a gel and applied to the surrounding swelling.
"I-I can do that."
Mingshen gave her a twisted smile. "I don’t trust you with your knee anymore. It seems you have taken an oath to keep torturing it."
She raised her brow. "Is that a pinch of humanity I am seeing?"
"What is that? I am just doing what I need to to keep my re
"Hooo..." Mingshen cocked his brow. "So the case is solved?"
Dong Haoyu’s expression turned ugly. "Solved like hell! Mey is innocent! She didn’t kill Director Wan. This is ridiculous! They have got the wrong person. That’s why you have to help me, Miss. Song. Y-you are a cop too, right? Please do something! Please save Mey!" He broke down.
