Chapter 83 Li Ang's Refutation
Chapter 83 Li Ang's Refutation
Some were surprised, some suddenly realized, some frowned, some lowered their heads, and some shifted their gaze from Li Ang's face to Lilith.
Lilith sat there, her lips slightly parted, completely unaware of what had happened.
"What...me? Bridget...she protected me?" she whispered.
"Yes," Li Ang admitted, then looked at the others, "This plan was known only to me, Charlotte, and Bridget. We didn't even tell Lilith herself."
Isabella let out a disdainful snort from her throat. "Just as I expected."
"In other words," Fibel's voice drifted from the corner, "your plans have been leaked."
Li Ang did not agree with her statement.
Although only three people knew about the plan—himself, Bridget, and Charlotte.
Now that Bridget is dead, and excluding herself, it seems that the only person who leaked the plan is Miss Detective.
It's a very simple principle. And also the most unbelievable guess.
Faced with Li Ang's silence, the people around the round table began to exchange glances.
In their eyes, both Leon and Charlotte were equally suspicious, but because of the former's identity as a detective, the people were more inclined to believe the latter.
"Then, I propose that we vote for Charlotte during the voting stage later. No objections, right?" Isabelle said without hesitation.
As early as last night, when everyone introduced themselves, she instantly understood the nature of this game. Especially after Lilith's identity as Miss Truth was revealed, Isabel realized that one of them had to die first.
Although Bridget has now become their scapegoat, she has only delayed their deaths by one night.
What she didn't expect was that the detective and his assistant would be so decisive as to choose Bridget, that stupid woman, to protect Lilith.
Now that the plan has been leaked, and the only person in the team with protective abilities has died, it's truly unbearable to watch.
"But isn't Mr. Moriarty also a suspect?" Caltacia suddenly spoke up, drawing everyone's attention to Leon.
"I'm sorry, I didn't leave my cell last night," Li Ang said.
"Me too," Charlotte chimed in from the side.
"Then, who can prove it?" Isabel stared intently at the two of them, trying to find a clue in their faces.
So Leon looked at Boudica, since when he first arrived, Boudica had said that she had checked his whereabouts last night, so she should know that he had not left the cell last night.
However, Boudica's remarks took Leon's words by surprise.
"I detected signs that Li Ang's cell was forcibly opened last night using my abilities."
As she finished speaking, everyone looked at Li Ang with even more suspicion. Only Charlotte seemed to have guessed what Li Ang was planning, so she gave him an inquiring look.
"That was when I used my ability to forcibly break into the cell," Li Ang explained. "I was planning to see if I could catch that witch tonight, but unfortunately the jailer was very strict, and I didn't succeed."
"Who can prove it?" Faibel asked immediately afterward.
"Boudica can testify. Since she used her abilities, she should know whether I left the cell last night or not."
Boudica remained silent, a stance that led Leon to wonder if she was a witch, hoping to use the crowd to vote him out of prison.
Especially after the other party's misleading remarks, Li Ang felt that it was even more likely that the other party was a witch.
"Then I propose that we also include Leon Moriarty in the voting pool," Isabelle said. "Let's vote for Jon Charlotte today, and then vote for Leon Moriarty tomorrow."
"I have an objection."
Although he was somewhat puzzled as to why Isabelle was targeting him and Charlotte, Leon still spoke up directly to prevent her suggestion from being approved by the others.
He stood up, took the dark-colored identification card out of his pocket, and placed it face down on the table.
"You can doubt me. If I were you, I would also doubt someone who calls themselves the 'Illusionary Witch'."
"But I want to remind you of something—if I were a witch, why would I tell you I'm the 'Illusion Witch'? Why would I tell you what my abilities are? Why would I participate in devising this plan to protect Lilith?"
"If I were a witch, I could easily fabricate a harmless identity. If I said I was 'Iron Shield Guard,' who among you would know I was lying? If I said I was 'Miss Truth,' who among you could verify it?"
"Now that I'm willingly revealing this most suspicious identity card, do you think a true witch would do this?"
No one answered, and some of the less resolute people began to think that Li Ang was right.
"Perhaps you will," Isabella continued casually, "Perhaps this is exactly your strategy. Make your identity card the most suspicious, then reveal it willingly, making everyone think that a witch wouldn't be so stupid, thus clearing yourself of suspicion."
Li Ang did not continue to defend himself. Instead, he put his ID card back in his pocket, sat down again, placed his hands on the table, and interlaced his fingers.
His gaze shifted from Isabella's face and slowly swept over every face around the round table, all of whom were waiting for his further explanation.
However, he did not intend to do so.
"You're right. That's one possible strategy. I don't deny it."
Hearing that Li Ang seemed to have nothing more to say, Isabella's lips curled up slightly, a hint of smugness in the curve.
But she didn't laugh, because Li Ang's gaze was fixed directly on her face.
"Well then, I'd like to ask you a question, Isabella," Leon changed the subject. "Since the beginning, you've been pushing for Charlotte and me to be voted out. What exactly is your reasoning?"
"Because you two are the most suspicious!" Isabella quickly said.
"But you never seem to have considered another possibility: that the witch isn't any of the three of us. The witch has the ability to read people's minds, or the ability to see what each person is using at night."
"You insist that the plan was leaked by one of the three of us, and that Bridget was betrayed by one of us. Why are you so sure?"
Isabella's lips moved slightly, but she didn't make a sound. Clearly, she didn't know how to answer Leon's question.
"You're not even willing to consider another possibility. Are you too clever, so clever that you see through the truth at a glance? Or do you simply not want us to consider other possibilities?" Li Ang paused for a moment. "Then it is, because you are the witch."
All eyes shifted from Li Ang to Isabella.
Emily covered her mouth with her hand, Lilith's eyes widened, Caltacia's brows furrowed, and Sherry's blue ahoge stood up even higher, indicating she was getting agitated.
