The Destiny Villainess Wants Me To Work!

Chapter 162: Loyal Maids!

Chapter 162: Loyal Maids!

Richard sighed, rubbing his forehead.

This again.

He knew his brother’s obsession all too well. And no matter how many times he tried to talk sense into him, it never worked.

In Jerry’s mind, their King would eventually reciprocate his feelings.

To say delusion at its finest.

Letting out a quiet breath, Richard followed toward the cab and slid into his seat.

"Where are we going?" he asked, turning slightly toward Casey, as they talked in a low voice.

"Vermilion Canvas Hotel," she replied. "The King told us to stay there and wait."

Richard nodded, though the crease in his brow didn’t fully disappear.

"I see..."

Something still felt off.

The sudden change of meeting point. The lack of a direct call, just a message. It didn’t sit right with him.

Casey noticed the change in his expression immediately.

"I know what you’re thinking," she said.

Richard glanced at her.

"Don’t overthink it," she continued. "Once we arrive, I’ll scout the area first."

Her tone remained calm, but there was a quiet sharpness beneath it.

"If it’s clear, we proceed as planned."

"And if it’s not?" Richard asked, a faint grin forming.

Casey’s lips curved slightly.

"Then we prepare an ambush."

Richard leaned back, his earlier tension easing into a more familiar sense of comfort.

"Guess I was worrying for nothing," he said. "Should’ve remembered who I’m dealing with."

"The brain of the King’s Palace."

Casey just showed a faint smile and didn’t respond.

She didn’t need to.

Richard understood her thought very well.

If the message truly came from their King, then everything would go smoothly.

But if it didn’t—

His grin sharpened just a little.

Whoever thought of setting a trap for them...had made the worst decision of their life.

Back at Yang Qingxi’s villa, the atmosphere carried the calm rhythm of a well-managed household.

Morning sunlight streamed through the tall glass windows of the dining hall, illuminating the polished marble floor and the long dining table set with delicate dishes. The faint aroma of freshly prepared breakfast lingered in the air. The atmosphere was light and warm.

At the centre of it all sat Su Mo.

He was in an exceptionally good mood today.

With a bright, almost unrestrained smile stretching across his face, he ate his breakfast leisurely, occasionally humming an unknown tune under his breath. His chopsticks moved around, picking up the dishes and savouring them. Yet his attention clearly wasn’t on the food.

His mind was elsewhere.

So much so that he failed to notice the subtle but growing disturbance behind him.

Near the side of the dining hall, a few maids stood together, pretending to be busy while their eyes kept drifting toward him.

Their voices were low—barely above whispers—but their curiosity was anything but restrained.

"It seems Mr Su is in a pretty good mood today," one of them murmured, her eyes flicking toward him.

Another nodded in agreement. "Yeah... I’ve seen him happy before, especially when he’s on a winning streak in his games."

She paused, observing him carefully.

"But today is different. Look at him... he’s even humming while eating."

The maids exchanged glances.

That alone was enough to spark suspicion.

Their gazes grew sharper, curiosity practically written all over their faces.

Just then, another maid who had been quietly standing nearby let out a soft chuckle.

"Hehe~ seems like you all don’t know."

The group immediately turned toward her.

"What do you mean?"

"Did something happen?"

Their voices overlapped slightly, their curiosity ignited instantly.

The maid didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she crossed her arms lightly and tilted her head, her lips curling into a faint, knowing smile.

"You all know the relationship between Young Miss and Mr Su, right?"

The others didn’t even hesitate.

They nodded in unison.

Of course, they knew!

How could they not?

Ever since Master Yang Zhen personally spread the news... and especially after that incident—when one of the maids had witnessed Mr Su secretly entering Young Miss’s room late at night...

The entire household had quietly reached a consensus.

No one spoke of it openly.

But everyone knew.

"What about it?" one of them pressed, her eyes already shining with anticipation.

The maid’s smile deepened slightly.

"I’ll just give you a hint," she said casually. "Last evening... Mr Su entered Young Miss’s room again."

She paused just long enough to increase their anticipation and continued.

"And he only came out around midnight."

Silence.

Then—

A collective intake of breath.

The maids’ eyes widened as they slowly turned to look at Su Mo, who was still happily eating, completely unaware of the storm brewing behind him.

"...No way."

"Midnight...?"

"That long...?"

Their imaginations immediately began running wild.

The maid who gave the hint simply shrugged lightly.

"You can imagine the rest," she added.

The effect was immediate.

Several of them flushed faintly, their expressions turning increasingly excited.

"Remember to keep this a secret," she reminded them, though her tone carried more amusement than warning. After all, everyone already knew of this unspoken secret. No one speaks about it just because it hasn’t been made official.

The maids nodded quickly.

Of course, they would keep it a secret.

But that didn’t stop the thoughts in their heads from spiralling completely out of control.

Right at that moment—

Footsteps echoed softly from the staircase.

Yang Qingxi walked down.

She looked refreshed.

Radiant, even.

Her posture was elegant, her movements light. Her skin carried a faint glow under the morning light, and her expression held a calm satisfaction that was hard to miss.

The maids froze for a split second.

Then—

They all exchanged knowing looks.

Their expressions subtly shifted, some of them pressing their lips together to suppress smiles, others lowering their heads to hide the slight blush creeping onto their faces. Because of wild imaginations.

Yang Qingxi, however, remained completely unaware.

She walked toward the dining table naturally and took her seat across from Su Mo.

Her gaze lingered on him for a moment.

He was still smiling and humming as he greeted her.

"Morning, Miss Yang~"
