Chapter 217 – You’re Never Lost, You’re Just On An Adventure!

Saturday

The day passed fairly quickly for John. He trained with Midoriya for most of the morning and afternoon, finding their training regimes were pretty similar as they both got used to moving their Quirks around their bodies. They spoke about many topics, though they always drifted back to pro heroes and his dream of becoming one.

After he left, John did some yardwork, then cooked another large dinner for the girls and him. Afterwards, he meditated by the koi pond, trained with Rumi and Yu, and had another fun night in bed.

Sunday

He met up with Anan at the train station, and they took a trip out to Mount Fuji, focusing on the western side along the Urui River. They toured the area for the day, Anan showing him the hydroelectric stations, large areas of forest, other nearby mountainous areas, and the nearby farmland.

"So, what do you think? Would this area work for you?" Anan asked. The pair of them were leaning on a railing overlooking Lake Tanuki, a small lake just to the west of Mt. Fuji.

"It is beautiful, and is both a defensible area and has plenty of farmland. I have no idea how a hydro power station is supposed to run, but at least they won't blow up."

Well, they have their own issues, but they should be generally safe to be around. I'm still going to consider some other options, but this might be as good an area to take people as I'm going to find.

"Blow up? You mean the old nuclear plants? Those were generally very safe; as long as it isn't a catastrophic event, they will shut down on their own if any issues arise. If that Japan is the same as this one, the nearest nuclear plant would be on the coast over two hundred kilometres away. There were also several more on the far side of the mountains on the West coast, but they shouldn't cause any issues. They are not the same type of reactors as those at Chernobyl. There was one incident due to a tsunami about a hundred years ago at Fukushima, but other than that, we had no further issues with our plants until they were all retired and replaced with fusion reactors."

"Well, I guess we will worry about that when the time comes. Thank you for showing me this place, Anan. I had a fun time today." He said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

"You're welcome." She replied as she leaned on him. "I enjoyed showing you around where I grew up."

"Oh? Should we stop in and visit your family then? Maybe I can help do some chores around the place to get in their good graces before we tell them I'm about to steal their daughter away?" He half-joked.

"Hah, stop teasing me, you dork." She said, hitting his chest lightly before resting her head back on his shoulder. "You can meet them during the summer break if you really want."

"Sounds good to me."

They stayed there until the sun started to drop below the nearby mountains, then made their way back to the train station. She got off the train in Musutafu, kissing him one more time before the doors closed, leaving him to return to Jaku by himself.

Meditate, yoga, then another night of fun with Yu and Rumi.

Wednesday

The next few days passed with nothing significant happening. Training with the students in the morning, more training with Midoriya during the day, and cooking large suppers for everyone in the evening. He did end up going out on his first patrol with Rumi, Tsui, and Midoriya, but nothing happened other than he finally broke in that new hero suit.

Rumi had taken over as an instructor for Midoriya during the patrol, teaching him and Tsui what they needed to watch out for, how to handle villains, and the steps to take after the fact. She even brought them to a police station and showed them how to complete the paperwork needed to properly incarcerate the criminals.

Wednesday night, after they returned from training with Anan, Mei and Momo brought him down to their workshop to show him the new machinery they were working on. It was still in its infancy, but she had an idea to use some weird science he didn't understand to shrink and expand metal based on what she could learn from playing with his motorcycle. Momo's Quirk helped build it, but it was her big brain helping design it more than what she could create with her body.

So far, they've only managed a minor expansion on a small plate of steel, but it required a large electrical charge to manage that much. It was all way beyond his understanding of science, but he thought it was really interesting, so he made sure they knew he was impressed with their work.

More training. A lot of food. Tons of cuddles and intimacy.

Thursday

"Mei and I will be back later this evening with the movers," Yu said as she ran her fingers through his chest hair. The three of them were still in bed after performing their now-normal morning wakeup routine on him.

"Did you need a hand?" John asked. He was pinned between the two of them, his hands either holding a butt cheek or playing with Rumi's tail.

"No, it's okay. We are just watching them pack and move everything from the apartment and our storage unit, then doing some cleaning."

"I'm bringing the rest of the kids with me on patrol today. Are you joining us?" Rumi asked, snaking her hand below the sheet again. She was fascinated by how much Little John grew when she made him hard. He didn't mind; now that they have been much more intimate recently, she almost always took care of it for him right away.

There might not be any actual sex yet, but this has been one of the most enjoyable times in my life.

"No. We have company coming today, so we are going to practice more with his Quirk while we wait. Also, Hinata should be by later for me, and I need to take advantage of her time."

"Company? You mean?"

"Yeah. Him."

All Might checked his phone again, then sighed as he put it away. He was still getting used to walking around instead of flying everywhere, his daily allotted time of OFA having stabilized at about an hour after his vacation. He was currently trying to find this dojo of Mirko's or her new hero agency, but he had never really walked around Jaku before, always flying over the city while responding to issues elsewhere.

He had met with Nezu last night in his office, along with his good friend, Sasaki, also known as the pro hero, Sir Nighteye. After a short discussion, Sasaki used his Quirk on him, reading his future again. What he found was... an improvement compared to the last time he read it, though it still wasn't a peaceful end for him.

That's when he learned that John was not what he appeared to be and was, in fact, not even from this world.

"Get close to the man, and your chances of living a longer life will go up significantly," Sasaki said while lying down on the couch, his Quirk taking a lot out of him. He refused to tell him how he would actually die this time, saying it was still a little cloudy, so he let it be.

That led him to try to find a dojo and an under-construction hero agency in this small city, and getting lost for the third time this morning. Luckily, he hadn't set a time in his text message to John, just that he would be by today.

"A hero is never late! He arrives precisely when he means to!" He said, striking a heroic pose. He meant it more as a self-deprecating joke, since he refused to ask anyone for directions.

*SCRRREEECCCHHH!!! HONK*

"GET OFF OF THE DAMN ROAD YOU MORON! DO YOU THINK YOU'RE SOME SORT OF HERO OR SOMETHING?" A man yelled at him from a box truck that nearly ran over him.

"Sorry! Sorry! My bad." All Might apologized and quickly got off the crosswalk. The truck's engine roared as the driver passed him, the side reading L.O.V.E. Home Orphanage Education Services.

"That seems like way too many letters for an organization. Now, where was I? Ah, yes, looking for a dojo. It has to be around here somewhere." He said to himself as he started to wander off, forgetting the accident he had almost caused. He was happy that he would get to see young Midoriya again, and nothing would bring his mood down.

"Yeah. Most of us know you're the Twilight Knight." Midoriya said to Mr. Wayne when they paused for lunch. They were in the kitchen, and the councillor was now teaching him how to cook. It wasn't something he had really done before; his mother had always made sure he was fed. For the most part, he knew how to heat things up in the microwave, and that was it.

"Yeah. I'm coming to realize I wasn't as sneaky about hiding that as I thought I was. Now, flip the pork chunks so you brown the other side." The man said, standing to the side as he gave him instructions.

"You're not worried about any of us reporting you?" He asked. He considered it when he first realized they were the same person, but the more he interacted with Mr. Wayne, the more conflicted he was. He seemed genuinely concerned with all the students and didn't appear to be the monstrous murderer that the police were making him out to be on the news. After he helped him learn to control OFA, all thoughts of reporting him to the authorities went out the window.

"I was when I first learned the secret was out, but I can't change that now. So, I'm going to help you and the rest of the students the best I can, and I'll deal with the fallout if and when the police show up at the door. I do have some friends in high places now, so I should be okay as long as I don't break TK out too often."

"You're not worried that you killed those people?"

"No. The villains attacked the innocents first. I didn't go looking for the fight, but when I found myself in the middle of it, I damn well wasn't going to stand to the side and let them get away with it. As for killing them, just like I told you students before, I would rather be put on trial than be put in the ground. Sure, some people can be reformed, but once you start hurting the weak and the innocent for nefarious reasons, I will always stand against that. To me, that is one of the definitions of a hero."

"One of the definitions of a hero? What do you-" He replied, but was interrupted by a knock at the door.

"Knock, Knock! Did someone say, Hero!" A familiar voice shouted from the other room. He dropped the tongs he was using to flip the pork chunks around and made to run out of the kitchen, but Mr. Wayne caught him by the collar.

"Focus on your cooking. There is hot oil, and you don't want to burn anything or cause a fire."

"But it's All Might!" He protested. He might have been learning from Mr. Wayne for a couple of weeks now, but All Might had chosen him to inherit his power over a year ago, and they had been training several times a week since then. He was almost like a father to him now, while Mr. Wayne was more like an uncle.

It's kind of crazy when I think about it, they are both really similar. Just with slightly different opinions on how to handle villains.

"Yes, and this is a hot stove. So either shut the heat off, ask someone else to take over, or I can go get the door."

"Can you watch the food, please?"

"Of course. Now, go see your mentor. I'll finish up here and bring it out to the table." He replied, then patted him on the shoulder.

Midoriya darted out of the room, leaving John shaking his head, a smile on his face.

"Poor kid never had a father figure. I'm happy to see Yagi filling that role... maybe I should try and play matchmaker for him and the boy's mother... get his mind off being a super hero for all and just be that boy's hero instead." John mused, then dropped the thought for now. It wasn't like he knew Yagi all that well, and he hadn't even met Midoriya's mother. Scouter told him that Midoriya thought the world of her, though, and was worried she was going to be all alone once he left the house in a few years.

"One thing at a time, John. One thing at a time."

Lunch went surprisingly well, with Yagi thanking John again for helping out young Midoriya while he took that much-needed vacation. They discussed his training and how much he was improving with some help from Rumi's not-so-tender ministrations, breaking him of some bad habits he had started to develop. John downplayed his own role a bit, not wanting to take credit for what he barely knew himself, but Yagi was having none of it.

"You figured out what I couldn't, and that was how to let him harness OFA without needing to break his bones. I was hoping just by working out and growing stronger that he would just grow into it, but it turns out he uses the power differently than I do." He said and patted the boy on the back. "I'm proud of you and all your progress."

"Thank you," Midoriya said, nearly in tears, hearing those words. He excused himself to go to the bathroom, probably so he could compose himself. Once he left, John continued the conversation.

"It was just a guess. My Awakened Quirk does something similar, and after Rumi corrected me a few times, I thought it might help him." John replied, using the Awakened excuse the HPSC president told him to use to explain his new powers from the Takeyama fruit. Apparently, some Quirks could develop over time, so that was the easiest explanation for the paperwork side of the house.

"Still, you did it. You have given me hope that OFA has indeed passed to the right hands, and that there is light at the end of this dark tunnel of villainy here in Japan. Now, I must ask another favour of you."

"What is that?" John asked. "I don't mind continuing to help train him if that's what you want."

"No, it's not that, though that would be appreciated." He said, then lifted the left side of his shirt up to his shoulder. A massive amount of scarring covered that side of his body, with a crater buried deep into his ribcage. John's eyes widened in surprise at the sheer damage to his body.

"How?-" He started to say, then faltered. There were too many hows crowding his brain.

How did that happen? How are you able to move around? How are you even alive?

"Heh, I received this fighting the villain All For One several years ago. I won't go into details, but suffice to say, I barely survived. Now, I'm always in pain, and it's slowly killing me and robbing me of my Quirk." He said, then looked at John with his shadowed eyes. "Now, I'm not in the habit of going in debt to another man, but you have helped me out twice. Will you aid me a third time and try to heal my wounds, Twilight Knight?"

John was taken aback for a moment, then pieces started to click together for him. "Nezu knows too, doesn't he?"

"Yes, he does. He and my friend and aide, Nighteye, told me yesterday. I have some... issues... with how you dealt with those villains, but I can tell you have good intentions. I-" He paused, then shook his head. "I'm sorry. I know I can come off as condescending sometimes, and I need to work on that. Please, can you try to fix my body? I don't want to be in pain any longer."

"Go lie down in the living room. I'll do the best I can." John said without hesitation. He lived in pain for a long, long time, and he wouldn't wish that on anyone who was not already a horrible person. Any little issues he had with Yagi being a bit over-the-top were insignificant compared to that.

Activating his armour for the first time in weeks, John followed Yagi to the other room. "I'll be honest with you, I don't have the power to replace missing parts, but I can try and see if I can at least reduce your pain and maybe the scarring."

"I'm just asking you to try... wow, that armour is kind of intimidating when I'm not using my Quirk."

"It's armour, it's not supposed to be friendly. And I can't believe the man who went toe to toe with that monster at the U.S.J. would be intimidated by anything."

"Heh, you might be surprised," Yagi said as he lay down. "Anything else I need to do?"

"Just stay still... I'm going to do a few things to amplify my power." He said, kneeling beside him and placing a hand over the wound.

He summoned the anger from the sword to amplify his spells; the memories Yagi had brought up from the villain's attack at the U.S.J. were more than enough to give him a decent boost. He just hoped he could do something for this man.

"Middle Heal! Cure! Detoxify!"
