Chapter 47 Deep Sea Dragon Bone
Chapter 47 Deep Sea Dragon Bone
The red lights inside the pressurization chamber were flashing wildly.
Lin Mo stood in front of the submersible's hatch, wearing a heavy-duty pressure-resistant diving suit, his eyes beneath the mask reflecting a cold glint like a blade.
"Lin Mo, can you hear me?" Acha's voice came through the encrypted channel, crackling with static. "According to the topographical map transmitted by the satellite, that Cold War-era listening station, 'Deep Blue Tomb,' has been dormant for half a century. But just ten minutes ago, the energy readings there suddenly spiked, like... like someone electrified a corpse."
"Corpses can sometimes come back to life." Lin Mo's voice was deep and steady as he checked the high-explosive cutting rounds hanging from his waist. "Keep the channel open. If I'm not out when the countdown reaches zero, immediately cut off all external networks to the base and take Suya away."
"You have to be careful, the structure there is very unstable, and..." Before Acha could finish speaking, Lin Mo had already pressed the hydraulic valve to open the hatch.
"boom--"
High-pressure seawater surged in instantly, engulfing him.
Darkness. Absolute darkness.
Only the searchlight on the diving suit helmet sliced through the ink-black seawater, illuminating the suffocating behemoth ahead.
It was a massive concrete structure half-buried in the seabed silt, like a stranded steel whale. Rusty steel bars protruded from the concrete, like the exposed ribs of a rotting beast. Several long-abandoned sonar arrays stared blankly at the intruders like giant eyeballs.
This is Noah's lair.
Lin Mo activated the thrusters on his back, sliding towards the entrance like a silent torpedo. A twisted titanium alloy gate stood blocking the entrance, clearly torn open from the inside by some immense force. This was something that the erosion of time could not have accomplished.
"It seems the remnants of 'Phoenix' have already settled here," Lin Mo thought to himself.
He had just passed through the gate when the tactical display on his wrist suddenly flickered. The blood-red countdown numbers were still ticking: [71:45:22].
"Warning: Strong magnetic field interference detected." The AI in the diving suit issued a cold warning.
The next second, the once lifeless ruins suddenly "came to life".
Countless red laser beams shot out from the darkness in all directions, weaving a deadly web of death within the narrow passage. These lasers were not static, but rather, as if alive, constantly changing their frequency and angle.
"Cross-shaped laser corridor... that's ancient."
Lin Mo didn't pause for a moment. He took a deep breath, adjusted his breathing, and his body moved like a fish through the gaps in the laser net. Every contraction and relaxation of his muscles was precise to the millimeter. The laser beams grazed his mask, and he could even feel the faint heat.
Suddenly, the mud beneath their feet churned, and several silver metal tentacles shot out from the shadows of the wall. They were abandoned defensive mechanical arms, with rusty drill bits still attached to their ends.
"Get out of here!"
Lin Mo flicked his wrist, and the high-frequency vibrating dagger in his palm instantly activated, emitting a teeth-grinding buzzing sound. He slashed off a tentacle that was attacking his neck with a backhand stroke, used the momentum to push off the wall, and leaped into the air, avoiding a bear trap that suddenly popped up from the ground.
His movements were fluid and seamless, without a single superfluous motion, as if this deadly trap maze were a dance floor he had practiced a thousand times over.
Finally, he broke through the last line of defense and arrived at the core control room.
This is a massive spherical space, with a cube-shaped server array emitting a ghostly blue light suspended in its center—that is the heart of "Noah." Countless thick optical fibers connect to the walls like blood vessels, frantically transmitting data.
Below the server array, Lin Mo witnessed a scene that froze his blood.
There were dozens of transparent culture chambers there, long since dried out, but the bloodstains remaining on the walls were shocking. And on the numbered plaque of each culture chamber, that familiar barcode was engraved.
The barcode is exactly the same as the one on the back of Suya's neck.
"This isn't a server room..." Lin Mo clenched his fists tightly, his nails digging into his palms. "This is a slaughterhouse."
"Phoenix" is not only monitoring Suya here, but they are also trying to clone her. These incubation chambers prove that they have conducted countless inhumane cloning experiments here.
That countdown is the restart procedure for these culture chambers.
"Second stage cleaning..." Lin Mo looked at the code flashing on the server and instantly understood the truth.
If Suya becomes uncontrollable, they plan to activate these backup "perfect containers," replacing her with clones to continue their plans.
"dream!"
Without further hesitation, Lin Mo drew his high-explosive cutting round from his waist and roughly tore open the server array's protective shield. Just as his finger was about to press the detonator, the entire control room suddenly shook violently.
"Warning: A high-energy reaction has been detected approaching!"
The ceiling above them collapsed with a deafening roar, and a huge black shadow fell down amidst a shower of debris.
As the smoke cleared, Lin Mo could see the thing clearly.
It was a humanoid mech modified to its extreme, or rather, a failed prototype encased in steel. Behind its cockpit glass, a distorted and deformed face could be vaguely seen—an experimental subject once abandoned by "Eden."
"The intruders... must be... purified..."
The mechanically synthesized electronic sounds propagate underwater through vibrations, creating a chilling echo.
Lin Mo glanced at the countdown timer on his wrist: [00:05:00].
Five minutes left.
He slowly straightened up, holding the high-frequency vibrating dagger horizontally in front of his chest, a cruel smile curving his lips beneath the mask.
"Want to be a watchdog?"
"Then let's see if your bones are harder, or my knife is sharper!"
