Chapter 631 - 16: Let Me Take You Home
Someone exclaimed, "Look over there!"
Everyone looked to the left, where the glowing green eyes of the wolves, like ghostly flames, had gathered into a frightening mass staring this way.
A singularly huge silver sand wolf slowly walked out.
They dominated this place of life, watching the few people with eyes as sharp as a tiger’s.
The wolf pack was completely ready, just waiting for the head wolf’s order to tear everyone to pieces and swallow them into their bellies.
"Don’t shoot yet!" Que Qiu was about to remind the two people holding guns; the head wolf was still, and it’d be best not to shoot, or else it would be considered provocative.
Just as his words fell, a gunshot pierced the wind, hitting no wolves but causing the howls to almost flood the area.
"I’m sorry, I’m too scared!!!" A male assistant dropped the gun to the ground, trembling and speaking with a sob.
The furious head wolf, amidst the growing sandstorm, dripped saliva from its mouth, seemingly eager to kill them all.
Following it were hordes of sand wolves, somehow encircling them in a way that left them no chance to escape.
"Damn it, we can’t get out!" Despair began to taint Que Qiu’s heart; they had missed the best chance to retreat and escape. But retreat seemed like a dead end too!
These wolf packs obviously held sway over this life-saving oasis and wouldn’t allow anyone to draw water. Without water, they would die just the same.
This was truly a choice question with the same answer—death. Whether to die of thirst or be bitten and eaten by wolves.
Que Qiu strangely found himself pondering which of these two ways to die would be slightly more bearable.
Suddenly, the head wolf leaped toward them but in mid-air seemed summoned, abruptly pouncing towards their rear.
Behind them was Tianmiao!
Was the wolf about to choose the tenderest meat to devour first?
What the hell kind of taste is this? So picky!
Although ridiculing instantly, it was really just a flash of lightning.
"Tianmiao, be careful!" Que Qiu shouted out.
The others also screamed in terror.
Yet Tianmiao merely waved a calming hand.
The head wolf almost simultaneously halted its movement, softly whimpered, approached Tianmiao, and cautiously placed its head below Tianmiao’s palm, like a docile large dog waiting for an owner’s touch.
"Good boy." Tianmiao patted the head wolf’s head.
This head wolf, moments ago the harbinger of Hell controlling everyone’s destiny, now blissfully lay on the ground, exposing its belly due to Tianmiao’s touch.
Que Qiu and the others’ eyes widened in disbelief.
Is this an illusion?
What is happening?
Is the head wolf seeking pats? Acting cute?
But this isn’t an illusion!
This is reality!
Tianmiao playfully rubbed its belly as a reward, and the head wolf emitted happy sounds, akin to a tame large dog.
Que Qiu and the others were mesmerized.
Que Qiu regained composure, gazing deeply at Tianmiao.
Who exactly is this woman?
Tianmiao, still rubbing the wolf, turned to Que Qiu and said, "Go fetch water quickly."
The others snapped out of their daze, quickly grabbed buckets to fetch water.
"We won’t take much—just enough," Tianmiao said, patting the head wolf’s head.
The head wolf seemed to understand, nodding its head happily and nuzzling Tianmiao’s hand.
"Alright, let’s go." Tianmiao laughed.
With a whimper, the head wolf turned to lead the sand wolves away into the oasis, the luminescent eyes fading into the darkness.
