Book 3: Chapter 32: The Goldsong Wood Violin
Book 3: Chapter 32: The Goldsong Wood Violin
Returning to the Asra District, Sylutia got off the carriage holding the gift box, then waved her hand, watching the black carriage set off once more to return to the distance.
When she arrived at the dormitory, she found the other two hadn't returned yet, and Sylutia, after a whole night of watching performances, viewing combat matches, and studying complex theoretical knowledge, was utterly exhausted.
She placed the gift box on the cabinet by the bed, took a quick shower, returned to the bedroom, drew the curtains to block out the midday sun, went to her small bed, and fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.
Unconsciously, when she had slept very comfortably and opened her eyes again, it was already evening. The room was lit by a lamp, and her two roommates were also lying on their beds fast asleep, snoring away, though she didn't know when they had returned.
Lovier was wearing a set of light pink silk pajamas. At the moment, the blanket had been kicked aside by herself, revealing half her body. On the other side, Aurora was wearing black pajamas, lying on her side facing away from Lovier, sleeping relatively quietly.
Sylutia looked at her roommates' sleeping postures, finding them somewhat adorable. She helped Lovier pull the blanket back over her, then glanced at the gift box on the bedside cabinet, which was still lying there quietly.
She carried the box to the outer living room, then opened it again. This time, she re-adapted to controlling this doll, making its eyelashes lift and those blue eyes open.
Soon, this beautiful white-haired, blue-eyed doll floated up in the living room, then fetched a water cup for Sylutia and poured water slowly and carefully. The doll's earnest and careful demeanor held a touch of the charm Sylutia had as a child.
After drinking the water, Sylutia took the doll to the kitchen, then began preparing tonight's dinner. As she washed the vegetables, she tried to have the doll hold a kitchen knife with both hands to chop them.
At first, due to inexperience, the doll wasn't fast, but as Sylutia slowly adapted and mastered the control, her coordination with the doll became increasingly harmonious. For example, fetching various seasonings to add, bringing kitchen utensils and plates for Sylutia, and so on.After preparing dinner for three, Sylutia and the doll carried it out separately. Then she returned to the room to wake the two sleeping girls.
"Wake up, time to eat something," she said, shaking them awake.
Lovier propped herself up slowly, her pajamas slipping slightly to reveal delicate, fair collarbones. She looked at Sylutia, then at the floating doll behind her, her eyes widening slightly.
"That doll, why is it floating there?" she asked, her voice full of astonishment.
"Oh, this." By then, Aurora was also awake, rubbing her eyes and carefully observing the beautiful doll in the black formal gown.
"This is a gift from the 'Puppetry School,' right? So exquisite."
"Eh, Aurora knows about it?" Lovier turned her head.
"Of course. I wanted to go to Rorik College precisely to make such beautiful dolls." Aurora sat up, her eyes full of curiosity as she approached the doll behind Sylutia, then carefully cradled it in her arms.
"It's really pretty." Sylutia felt Aurora's eyes were brimming with affection at this moment. She stroked the doll's little dress over and over, even carefully pinched its cheek.
"I want to see too~" Lovier got up and moved in front of Sylutia. The top of her golden head drew close under Sylutia's gaze, then her head pressed down on Sylutia's thighs as she reached out both hands to hug the doll, starting to wrestle with Aurora over it.
"Alright, you two, stop fighting." Sylutia now had to mediate. After getting the two to sit properly, she gave up her spot.
Aurora and Lovier, wearing pajamas, sat on the bed, continuously examining the doll. Sylutia urged them several times from the side, saying the food in the living room was getting cold, before the two reluctantly came out to eat dinner together.
"Aurora and I went to Vichia College. It's like a golden theater there, with beautiful buildings everywhere, and gardens. You can see lots of performance programs." Lovier recalled yesterday's activities.
"Unlike other colleges, Vichia College, as the college of the 'Opera School,' holds the Silver Bell Festival open to the public. However, audience guests who want to come need to buy very expensive tickets, while those invited don't and receive additional gifts."
After saying this, Lovier jogged back to the room and brought out a small golden violin.
"This is the gift they gave me. It's said to be made of Goldsong Wood, with a pure tone and a certain effect of harmonizing breath and bloodline." She placed the violin on the table.
[Goldsong Wood Violin] (Third Tier · Rare): Crafted by the subordinate workshop of Vichia College, made from Goldsong Wood, superior quality, possesses breath-regulating effects.
Seeing this violin, Sylutia couldn't help but ask curiously, "Lovier, can you play the violin?"
"A little, but what I'm best at is playing the piano." She raised a finger, introducing with some pride.
"When I was six, my mom specially ordered a small White Phoenix piano for me. After that, I followed the best musicians in Aira Fonti to learn piano skills. Now my level is almost the same as my teacher's. She even said I'm a genius~"
No wonder. It seems Lovier will likely go to 'Vichia College' in the future. The 'Opera School' really suits her personality and hobbies.
"Piano..." Aurora listened to Lovier's account, reminded of some things from the past.
"Because of my family's tradition, I was exposed to various instruments as a child. But my favorite is probably the violin. At home, I still have the birthday gift from two years ago—a master-crafted Black Blue Rose violin." Aurora recounted.
"How about we perform together someday?" Lovier immediately proposed.
"You haven't even asked if I can play an instrument," Sylutia quietly grumbled from the side.
"Giggle, Hedra definitely can. Don't try to fool me." Lovier leaned over, saying confidently.
"Eh? Why is that? Why do you believe I must know an instrument?" Sylutia carefully recalled. After coming to the Asra District, she shouldn't have used any instruments or performed, right?
"Because Hedra can remember the tunes I usually hum." Lovier mentioned some details of daily life. When she was happy, she would occasionally hum some familiar tunes. These were all popular songs in the 'Harp Flower Union' area, rarely known or understood by people in the Mage Alliance.
"Ordinary people find it hard to remember the details of a song. At most, they might be familiar with a certain melody but can't memorize it completely."
"But, but some time ago, when Hedra was coaxing me to sleep, she hummed one of those songs completely."
"Isn't it possible that it's because of the 'Secret Word' Aspect? My memory is just better," Sylutia tried to quibble.
"No, no, no. I trust my intuition. The song's graceful transitions and subtle pitch variations aren't something someone who hasn't studied music can do naturally."
"Uh, that precise, huh?" Sylutia felt a bit troubled. On one hand, she did study music at the Meizhalansi family as a child. But on the other hand, she really didn't learn much because she was very young then. Her mom only wanted her to cultivate interest and didn't teach very complex theoretical knowledge. Being able to do what Lovier described relied purely on innate talent and intuition.
Afterwards, Lovier talked again about learning piano as a child and later participating in performances. Because her family had extremely high local fame, and she, as the family's legitimate daughter, also received attention from all sides. Every time she held a performance, a huge number of audience members would come.
"I have rich stage experience. Hedra, Aurora, I believe we can definitely pull off a grand, magnificent, and superb performance."
Lovier spoke these bold words. Though her every mannerism and appearance were that of a standard, proper young lady from a wealthy family, this girl always seemed to have boundless energy and vitality. She held passion and love for many things, without a trace of contempt or arrogance, nor had she ever been seen displaying any negative emotions. She was like a pure, blossoming little golden sun. It was precisely because of her presence that Sylutia and Aurora, two girls who originally didn't talk much, were also touched by some of that vitality, becoming more lively.
