Vol 2 Chapter 51 Advanced Secret Techniques
Turning past the stone steps inside the castle fortress, Sylutia made her way through the tower interior. The occasional window she passed allowed her to catch glimpses of the azure blue sky outside and the vast golden expanses of wheat fields below.
The breeze here was gentle and pleasant, the environment agreeable. It was truly worthy of being the safest heartland city within the Hidden Grove.
The wind passed through the chalk-white stone blocks, carrying a dry scent and a few tiny particles. The higher Sylutia climbed within the tower, the quieter the surroundings became. By now, she could no longer hear the clamorous training noises from the tower's base, leaving only the sound of the whooshing wind.
Several minutes later, she arrived before a heavy, thick door at the tower's summit and gently knocked on the door knocker.
The cast-iron door knocker, full of dents and pits, struck the door, producing a heavy, echoing sound.
Soon, the door was pulled open by a thick, sturdy arm, allowing Sylutia to see the situation inside the hall.
A knight clad in full-body platinum-white armor sat at the head of the hall. His armor resembled white ivory, its edges adorned with gold decorations that encircled the inner lining, looking like a custom-made royal work of art, yet simultaneously exuding a sense of majesty.
As Sylutia stepped into the hall, it was as if she had entered a palace. The entire hall was under the control of the domain expanded by this knight. Fortunately, the other party bore no ill intent, merely isolating this area from the outside world and placing it under his protection.
After offering a simple bow, the young girl, guided by the other party's gesture, took a seat at the very end of the long table. She sat with her legs together, like a well-behaved student, her gaze carrying a hint of curiosity as she looked towards the knight seated directly opposite her at the head of the table.
"Haha, I told you this little girl wasn't simple. She actually dares to look directly at you on her first visit," the burly man sitting beside the knight spoke up. His stature far exceeded that of an ordinary person, as if he possessed giant bloodline. His muscles resembled brass, capable of crushing iron and stone.
Apart from these two, there was also a refined scholar inside the hall, and a wizard familiar to Sylutia, Kuland Hill.
"Pleased to meet you for the first time. I am Cassius, Captain of the Holy Hall Knight Order." The other party's voice was plain and unassuming, showing no condescension or pressure despite the difference in status.
"Hello, I am Sylutia, a new apprentice of the Hidden Grove." To be honest, Sylutia still didn't understand the reason she had been summoned, but seeing so many important figures, it probably wasn't a minor matter.
"It's probably your first time meeting us, so you might be a bit nervous, but there's no need to worry. What we are about to discuss will not greatly impact your studies or daily life." The Knight Captain continued.
"Regarding your 'Outstanding' evaluation, the association headquarters has already approved it and has also brought commendations. The scholar here will explain the details to you." As he said this, the gazes of several people also shifted towards the figure wearing a scholar's robe of off-white and pale blue. He appeared to be around forty years old, with a refined temperament and glasses perched on the bridge of his nose.
Giving Sylutia a slight nod, he briefly introduced himself: "My name is Seraph. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Tia."
This scholar was an existence of the 'Fifth Tier · Secret Word'. Even from the perspective of the entire Glittergold Plains, he was a rare and significant figure. In Regas, the country where Sylutia used to reside, a person like this would be considered a top-tier national force.
"Hello." The young girl returned the courtesy politely, her eyes showing considerable surprise and curiosity.
Everyone present was at the Fifth Tier or above, especially the Knight Captain seated at the very head. He was likely the current leader of the 'Holy White Knight Hall', a top-tier figure at the Sixth Tier.
"The association places great importance on Tia's outstanding performance and holds high hopes for you." Knight Captain Cassius continued.
"Tia, are you aware of matters concerning advancement to the Third Tier?"
"I am not yet clear." She hadn't even touched upon many things related to the Second Tier, let alone the Third Tier.
"The Third Tier is an extremely important stage. For many fields, one is only considered a formal professional upon reaching the Third Tier, able to independently accept commissions, establish their own reputation and title, and so on."
"This is certainly because stepping into the Third Tier signifies that your mastery of this field has reached a proficient and complete level. It is also because entering the Third Tier will unlock different core abilities."
"Every living being is born with their own unique fate and 1-3 abilities. Some of these abilities are innate, others are acquired through learning."
"The process of the 1st and 2nd Tiers is about complementing innate but incomplete abilities, solidifying one's own fate. Then, at the Third Tier, a tremendous mutation occurs."
"That is, using the abilities, Aspects, knowledge, and secret arts accumulated up to that point to carve out a brand new card slot. Moreover, the effect of this card slot far surpasses others and can be regarded as the core of a Transcendent's other abilities."
"You can understand it this way: fate and bloodline are things one is born with, while the core card is the manifestation of one's acquired experiences."
"How to carve out and how to utilize this exceptionally special core card slot has always been a focal point for various schools of thought."
"Each race and living being utilizes it differently. For humans, the core card slot is often closely linked to the progression path, to the extent that we frequently discuss the two together."
"For example, the Third Tier profession 'White Knight' within our Knight Order combines multiple abilities to condense a 'Shield of Purity'. By passing the trial, the 'Shield of Purity' harmonizes with one's own fate, achieving the 'White Knight' profession and granting oneself powerful enhancements."
"This blacksmith here," he gestured to the side, "they collect various materials to forge a 'Hammer of Forged Gold' for themselves. Through a trial, they harmonize the 'Hammer of Forged Gold' with their fate, achieving the 'Forged Gold Blacksmith' profession."
"As for scholars, they generally, based on the secret arts of different schools, inscribe various categories of 'tomes'. They then harmonize this book with their own fate to achieve their profession."
"Wizards and witches take the model of a certain secret art or witchcraft as their core, harmonizing it with their fate to attain powerful mastery in that field."
"As for gardeners." He paused, his gaze shifting to Kuland Hill beside him.
"Let him explain it to you."
Kuland Hill, dressed in a bright yellow wizard's robe, glanced at the properly seated Sylutia before explaining.
"Gardeners, based on their own choices, create different exclusive 'gardens' used to cultivate special plants."
"Many Transcendent high-tier plants have stringent environmental requirements. It's difficult to encounter or create such conditions in reality, and they also cannot be moved. To solve this problem, ancient gardeners carved out gardens unique to themselves for cultivating plants."
"The reason our Four Seasons Alliance got its name is because we master the advanced secret arts for four special gardens. Back in my day, I advanced using the 'Summer Garden'." He simply raised his hand, and an intangible halo of light expanded and spread behind him. The environment within the hall transformed in an instant.
The place was filled with tall trees, lush flowers, grass, branches, and leaves. Clusters of red and emerald fruits hung from the forest canopy. Golden sunlight fell through the woods, rendering everything as beautiful as the fairy homelands described in poetry.
