The Cornflower Witch

Chapter 106: The Girl Who Returned

Chapter 106: The Girl Who Returned

Did the black-haired girl lose? Does that mean Tia lost, and Iona won?

This thought rose in Viscount Xuefeng's mind, and he felt it was within expectations.

After all, she was Viscount Caren's daughter and had studied at the Royal Academy in White Cliff City. No matter how you looked at it, she couldn't be compared to students from other academies.

On the other side, Scholar Hyde fell into a brief silence after listening. In truth, he still hoped Sylutia would win. He preferred the black-haired girl's personality a bit more, and Iona wasn't particularly close to him either.

The wait was always a bit boring, but when the figures of the last few students appeared, the people in the camp still grew somewhat excited.

The students who had returned from the assessment earlier hadn't left. After sleeping through the night, everyone was waiting for the results today.

"Who will it be?"

"It should be Miss Iona, right? Her strength is practically in a league of its own." Someone speculated this way.

"However, even for Miss Iona, completing the third objective would be an extremely difficult task." Someone thought this.

"If Miss Iona didn't complete the third objective, then the selection would have to be made from among the few who completed the second objective.""Looking at it that way, Solyn, Mick, and Baren still have quite a bit of hope."

"Don't even think about Solyn. He returned yesterday. The reason you all don't know is because he was severely poisoned and sent directly back to Scorchstone City for treatment."

"Ah, did Solyn lose just like that?" Someone felt quite regretful. After all, Solyn had a good reputation among the commoner students.

"What about the others? Have Mick and Baren returned?"

"Baren just returned last night. He's probably still sleeping in his tent." Someone shook their head.

"Judging by his dejected look, he probably didn't complete the second objective."

"In that case, it can only depend on whether Mick or Miss Iona gets selected."

"That should be the case. However, Viscount Xuefeng will definitely recommend Miss Iona. She's his niece."

"Mick getting some compensation reward is probably about it."

Everyone was discussing animatedly until someone suddenly shouted, causing them to stop.

"They're here, they're back!" Seeing Mick, Komea, and the others, these students gestured to them.

So, the few carrying their trophies quickened their pace and walked towards the camp.

Soon, Mick and Ray placed the blood-stained bundles on the open ground of the camp and opened them, revealing two ogre heads inside.

"This is mine and Ray's spoils of battle." Mick explained loudly.

"Understood." The Instructor on the side nodded with satisfaction, came over, patted both their shoulders, and asked if they were injured.

"We're in excellent condition right now." Mick answered proudly.

On the other side, Komea and Tia were also surrounded by some students.

"Did you two go on an outing? You look so relaxed."

"By the way, have you seen Miss Iona?" They weren't concerned about the two girls' situation at all, only wanting to know when Iona, the champion of this assessment, would return.

"I haven't seen her." Komea waved her hand, putting on an expression of knowing nothing, then pulled Tia away and trotted over to Scholar Hyde.

"Teacher, we're back." Komea hopped lightly in front of Scholar Hyde.

"Good, it's good that you returned safely." Scholar Hyde looked at Tia with concern. Seeing she was completely unharmed, the stone of worry in his heart finally settled.

It seemed Iona had held back and hadn't harmed Sylutia.

"The result isn't important. Participating in this itself was a trial." He began to comfort the two.

"You can still go to other organizations, look for opportunities. Join the periphery first, then gradually get closer and obtain the inheritance."

"Really? That's possible? Thank you, Teacher Hyde." Komea happily jumped up.

"So, I can become a witch too." She wanted to hurry home and discuss it with her parents. But just as she turned around, she suddenly saw a mysterious woman in a black dress standing in front of Tia and was startled.

This mysterious black witch had ribbons wrapped around her wrists that looked like living creatures. Her skin was pale. Just her proximity brought a certain sense of dizziness and fear, making Komea's body tremble, unable to utter a single word.

On the other side, Sylutia was much calmer. Or rather, she wasn't too greatly impacted. She just sensed an intense aura of Nightmare emanating from the other person.

This was probably the true mastermind behind this assessment, or rather, the examiner.

"You, you're quite good. I smell the scent of flowers on you." Merlinsa gently waved her black fan.

"If I'm not mistaken, this should be the aura of some peripheral organization of the 'Four Seasons Alliance.' It seems you have some connections too."

"Here, this is the badge for you as the victor." She flipped her fingers and handed a specially made silver badge to Sylutia.

The pattern on this badge featured twisted, growing trees surrounding a crescent moon in the middle. It looked quite exquisite and carried a special aura. Touching it gave a strange, cool sensation.

[Hidden Grove Badge] (Second Tier - Luminous Moon): A badge awarded only to exceptionally outstanding students. Aids in meditation, making the spirit more stable. (Spirit Stability +0.1)

"Hold onto it well. It's best to wear it on your person, don't be separated from it." Merlinsa instructed.

"Yes." Sylutia accepted it and temporarily pinned it to her collar.

"Good..." This black witch examined Sylutia's appearance, demeanor, and figure, nodding slightly.

"You are indeed excellent witch material. If you are interested in the witch profession, you can come to the organization I belong to, which is the 'Night Dream Tea Party.' I can act as your recommender and guarantor, exempting you from your obligations to the organization for the first three years. This is quite a good benefit, saving you a lot of time."

"Thank you." Sylutia politely curtsied in response, a few strands of silver hair falling.

"I wonder if you could tell me more about the 'Night Dream Tea Party.'"

"That's simple." The witch turned and walked towards the black carriage.

"Come with me."

Sylutia gradually followed. Only then did the other students notice something was off.

"Is that Tia? Why has her hair turned silver?"

"And, is that a witch? It's my first time seeing someone of that profession."

"Ah, Tia is getting into the carriage with the witch. Was she chosen?"

"What about Miss Iona? Wasn't it supposed to be Miss Iona?"

Not only were the students surprised and confused, but even Viscount Xuefeng and Scholar Hyde were full of puzzlement. However, they didn't dare disturb the witch now. They could only have people stand guard not far from the carriage and report any developments to the two of them.

Thinking of certain possibilities, Scholar Hyde called Komea and the others over to inquire.

"What exactly did you encounter during the assessment? And what was Tia's situation?"

"Well..."

Mick glanced at the others beside him and began explaining to the teacher. And so, some truths gradually became known to everyone.
