Chapter 143 - Couldn't find the Wife of Mine!
Kalki's Chamber.
Xavier bursts into Kalki's Chamber and roars looking for Kalki in anxiety "What are you doing, Xander?".
"Everything".
Xavier was looking around like a mad man who just lost his mind and his anger increases when he sees Kalki as calm as ever.
Kalki was just standing at the farthest corner of his chamber nonchalantly and smiles seeing Xavier.
Xavier fumes "Executing the soldiers in front of The Imperial City will only reignite the suppressed rebellions, Xander! Why would you want to punish the Countryside Pavilion's soldiers now?!".
Kalki declares "They failed to recognize their Queen!".
Xavier was taken aback by Kalki's declaration and gasps stunned for a moment "What?!".
'The Queen?! Maya?!'.
Xavier suddenly couldn't digest the fact that Kalki stepped forward finally to punish the servants for not identifying Maya a month before!
'So he never thought to abandon her?!'.
Xavier could only whisper in disbelief "That'd been a month!".
His voice was turned sad for some reason.
Kalki smirks "But the punishment prevails".
Xavier gets completely uncomfortable with Kalki's sudden change of demeanour as he in some way hated Kalki caring for Maya. He knows that Kalki should care about her but he also don't know why he couldn't be happy at that thought.
He still swallows those thoughts deep in his heart and tries to convince Kalki "Xander, listen to me. I don't need to explain you the current situation of the country. Because you know better than any of us! People have long forgotten the incident happened in the Pavilion and even pacified by the recent Court Hearings-".
Kalki smiles "No one can walk alive after disrespecting the Throne of The Northern Realm, Xavier. You know which is important and when".
Xavier was put in a difficult situation 'Of Course, it's important! I didn't say no!' Yet tries to argue "But-".
'I don't like bringing Maya's problems again and again in front of the people And neither she! Then why would he do this?! Unless...'.
His heart trembled to finish his thoughts.
Kalki smirks "How about punishing every single person disrespected her?".
Xavier "..." What is he talking about?! Every single person?!
Xavier hates this whole feeling and everything feels surreal to him. He genuinely doubts whether his capability of hearing has destroyed to certain extent that he is hearing absurdity! From Xander!
Kalki broadens his smirk and sneers "And The Imperial Court Officials...too. For dragging The Queen out of her chamber!".
Xavier gulps and warns "No, You wouldn't!".
Kalki chuckles "Try me, Prince Xavier".
Xavier whispers worriedly walks towards Kalki in disbelief "What happened to you suddenly? Did you hurt your head? Don't you know? Dragging the Imperial Court Officials wouldn't solve anything instead it would cause severe effects in the future!".
Kalki chuckles shaking his head "After what she did in The Imperial Court, don't you think we too should do something so that people think before they start to rebel? Why don't we start from disciplining our own servants first and end it with the Officials?".
Xavier frowns "You are doing this to get rid of them? The rebels in disguise of soldiers and officials?".
Kalki asks "What else? This is the perfect chance to remove those weeds in the Court precisely".
Xavier lets out a sharp breath relaxed as if he can finally breath 'Jesus! He literally showed me hell! For a mere moment I really thought...'.
Seeing Xavier dazed in some thoughts, Kalki adds "Well. If the people still protest against her being The Queen, then we have only way to exile her-".
Xavier interrupts bitterly "Removing her from The Throne won't help anything, Xander. Have you forgotten about The Emperor's wish?!".
Kalki states sternly "She is still here only because of that wish. Even if her exile won't help us much, it still will save her from the future problems. Not everytime would be a Court Hearing to win with words. If she fails to stand strong this time, then I have no way other than removing her".
Xavier tilts his head suspiciously "Stand strong? She is standing strong for herself, Xander. What do you expect her to do? And staying strong this time? What are you talking about?".
Kalki laughs lightly and wonders eagerly "Oh, I almost forgot. I couldn't find The Wife of mine in The Royal Palace. I might trouble you to escort Your Sister-in-law back?".
Xavier blinks speechless "..." Wife?
Now those words enlightened something in Xavier's mind than hurting his heart at this moment.
If Kalki asked this question without telling anything about the executions, Xavier might have felt devastated and even guilty.
But Xavier frowns suspiciously "Lady Maya isn't in the Palace?!".
Kalki tilts his head playfully "I wonder whether she heard about the execution-".
Xavier gasps "If she did, then she wouldn't be in the Palace!".
Fear creeps in his heart at the thought of being Maya in the place of execution!
'She might not bear the brutality of it! Jesus! She is going to hate us forever!'.
He steps back from Kalki in anxiety and turns hurriedly to stop her from going to the city where the executions would be happening.
When he is about to step out of the chamber, he stops hearing Kalki's declaration.
"If she does anything impressive this time, I might not exile her".
Xavier turns with a frown and asks in disbelief "Do you really want her to see that?!".
Kalki states "The real battle happens in the streets, Xavier. Not in the Court".
Xavier shakes his head "And what do you expect me to do now? Just bring her back after every servants of her Pavilion are executed?".
Kalki states "Do not step in. If you did, then I too will. And you know what might be the end".
Xavier leaves the chamber tongue tied. It is going to be the worst day of his life!
