Chapter 765 - 749: I Am Not a Slut 60
"Auntie, do you need something?"
Wei Jiaming politely asked the middle-aged woman and the unusually beautiful girl blocking his way.
Mrs. Jiang realized she was being a bit brash after stopping Wei Jiaming.
But she quickly composed herself.
With a smile at Wei Jiaming, she said, "I’m An Nan’s mother."
Immediately, Wei Jiaming’s face lit up with a smile, his manners even more courteous, "Auntie, hello. I would have never guessed you are Nannan’s mom, you look so young! But now I see, you and Nannan have similar features, both so beautiful."
What a sweet talker the boy is.
Mrs. Jiang’s smile deepened enough to show her crow’s feet: "Aged, aged, I was pretty in my youth, otherwise I wouldn’t have given birth to a beautiful daughter like Nannan."
Mrs. Jiang glanced towards the steamed bun shop: "I saw you coming out from the bun shop just now. Seems like you and Nannan know each other well, what’s your relationship?"
Wei Jiaming’s face turned red instantly: "We’re just, just friends."
"Friends, huh."
Mrs. Jiang nodded: "I see that Nannan treats you quite well, so you must be close friends. When you have time, could you talk to Nannan for me? This child, at her age, shows no urgency. I suggest her to go on blind dates, but she refuses. Maybe she’d listen to a friend since she doesn’t heed her elders. Could you persuade her for me? If you succeed, I’ll treat you to a meal."
"This..."
Wei Jiaming was conflicted: "I just... probably can’t persuade her, please don’t put me in a difficult position."
Mrs. Jiang watched Wei Jiaming’s expression sour, feeling secretly pleased inside.
Pssh, just friends, my foot. A few words and the truth is out. If he was just a friend, why would he be anxious about Nannan’s blind dating?
Mrs. Jiang decided to press further.
Pointing at Anning, she said, "This is Nannan’s younger sister. See, her sister is about to get married, the other family is urging us, but there are customs back in our hometown. The elder sister isn’t married yet, so how can we let the younger get married first? Her father and I are really worried and anxious."
Anning frowned, wondering how she got dragged into this.
But she still played along with Mrs. Jiang.
"What’s your family name?"
Wei Jiaming hurriedly replied: "No need for formality, my family name is Wei. I am Wei Jiaming, nice to meet you."
Anning shook hands with Wei Jiaming: "Jiang Anning."
Wei Jiaming didn’t pay much attention to Anning, his focus was always on Mrs. Jiang: "Auntie, as you know, we young people don’t like blind dates. Nannan went on a couple and none ended well, she still hasn’t recovered. Even as a friend, I can’t persuade her in such matters, I really can’t help you there."
Mrs. Jiang blinked then sighed, "Alright then, if you don’t want to help, that’s fine.’ Sigh."
Anning chuckled: "Mom, big sister is actually quite filial to you. You just need to fake an illness and push her to go on a blind date, that’s it. The man Auntie introduced to big sister this time is really nice, handsome and from a good family, plus he’s a college student..."
Anning didn’t finish her sentence when Wei Jiaming glared at her angrily.
Anning sneaked a smile and tugged at Mrs. Jiang, mother and daughter sharing an unspoken understanding.
Mrs. Jiang heaved another sigh: "Sigh, that’s the only way, otherwise, when will your big sister ever get married."
Mrs. Jiang said to Wei Jiaming: "Well, if you have things to do, you better go ahead. We still have some shopping to do."
Wei Jiaming could only unhappily drive off.
Once Wei Jiaming left, Mrs. Jiang winked at Anning: "Look at that, I forced it out of him. He thought he could fool me, hmph."
Anning gave a thumbs up: "Mom, you’re truly brilliant, I admire your skills."
After coaxing Mrs. Jiang to go home, Anning drove out.
Lately, Anning almost finished developing her game and was considering starting a gaming company, which naturally required finding a location, obtaining various certifications, and recruiting employees.
Xiao Yuan has been quite busy lately too. The number of his patients kept increasing, many from influential families. Others reached out to Xiao Yuan through connections, making it hard for him to refuse. He was swamped with work every day.
Not wanting to trouble Xiao Yuan further, Anning decided to drive out on her own to look for a place, aiming to set up the company structure.
She roamed around University City, close to East University, thinking about setting up her company there to recruit some East University students. As the new year approached, senior students would start their internships, and Anning planned to recruit a batch of graduates for training.
Additionally, not far from East University, there was another school with many art students, essential for game development. Anning planned to recruit from that school as well.
After several days of searching, Anning finally chose a location.
She picked a small office building. Previously home to three companies, one had gone bankrupt recently, clearing out the space. Anning liked the sizable and well-located place and wanted to rent it right away.
She sought out the property management of this side to help contact the owner to sign a contract.
Just after leaving her phone number with the property management, Anning exchanged a few words with their staff. Seeing it was almost noon, she picked up her bag thinking to go downstairs to buy some food.
As she hurried into the elevator, she noticed another person already standing inside.
This person was dressed in a courier’s uniform, wearing a hat and a large mask which hid their face, making it difficult to see their features.
Anning’s lips curved slightly as she nonchalantly entered the elevator.
The person glanced up at Anning.
Standing behind her, he gazed at Anning’s back with a hint of infatuation in his eyes.
The elevator descended, and soon it was about to reach the first floor. That’s when the person suddenly lunged at Anning.
Right as the elevator doors opened, Anning was caught off guard and was pushed out.
There was a wall directly opposite, and it looked like Anning was going to smash into it, but at that moment she abruptly stopped her movement, turned around, and pulled the man out of the elevator, grabbing his pulse point with one hand and kicking his stomach with her foot. Before the man could even cry out in pain, her other hand swiftly hit a pressure point on his body.
In almost an instant, Anning had subdued the man.
The man lay on the ground like a dead dog, with Anning’s foot pressing on his back. She reached for her phone and dialed the police.
"Hello, I need to report a crime. I’ve encountered a human trafficker, please come quickly..."
A police station was very close to this location, and within a few minutes of Anning’s call, police officers rushed over.
They arrived sweating and panting from the urgency of the situation, fearing the girl who had called for help might have met with misfortune, been beaten up, or worse.
But when they arrived and saw the scene before them, they were absolutely dumbstruck.
The girl who had called the police was actually so formidable, having subdued the human trafficker with her bare hands.
Observing Anning’s beautiful face filled with authority, her foot firmly pinning down the trafficker so that he could not even squirm, the officers couldn’t help but admire her.
"What exactly happened here?"
One of the officers asked as he approached.
Anning pointed at the man lying on the ground: "I suspect he intended to drug me and sell me off. When I was coming down from upstairs, as soon as I entered the elevator, I smelled something off about him. I also felt his gaze on me was strange, so I stayed alert. Then when the elevator reached the first floor, he suddenly lunged at me from behind."
Anning pointed towards the elevator and then towards the wall: "Look, if he had bumped me, I would definitely have hit this wall. Then I could have been knocked out, left dizzy, or been in so much pain I couldn’t speak, and he would have had his way."
The man being stepped on by Anning then started shouting: "Don’t slander me, I didn’t, I’m not, I... I’m going to sue you for personal injury, I will..."
Anning sneered coldly: "Comrade Officer, what I said is absolutely true. If you don’t believe it, search his body. He must be carrying some kind of drug."
The officer’s gaze towards the man became sharp.
One officer knelt down and felt around on the man’s body, finding a handkerchief and a liquid form of drug in his pocket.
He handed the handkerchief to another officer.
That officer examined it and then sniffed: "This handkerchief is definitely laced with drugs."
Anning chuckled lightly: "As expected, there’s nothing wrong with my sense of smell."
She explained to the officers with a smile: "My boyfriend is a doctor, I’m somewhat familiar with pharmaceuticals."
The officer nodded and then gestured for Anning to move her foot.
Embarrassed, Anning said: "I’m really sorry, I forgot..."
She moved her foot: "Please take him away quickly, such human traffickers must be given heavy sentences. Oh, and do you need me to provide a statement?"
When Anning exited the police station after giving her statement, her stomach was nearly caving in from hunger.
Yet, she was quite pleased.
After all, she had eliminated a significant menace.
The man Anning had caught was the same one who had harmed Jiang Anning in her past life.
This man had been stalking Anning for quite some time.
When Anning first replaced Jiang Anning, it was this man who had followed her in the alley at night. If Mr. Jiang hadn’t come down to fetch Anning, the man might have tried something on her.
He had followed Anning several more times afterward.
Anning was well aware of this, but pretended not to know. Today was when she noticed his intent to act and took preemptive measures to catch him.
