Chapter 1223 - 1196: Extraordinary Pet Fates 3

Anning chatted with An Xin for a while, then started checking Yu Xin’s bank account.

Once Anning finished checking how much money Yu Xin had, she was even more confused about why Fang Zeyang would go to such lengths to harm Yu Xin.

Yu Xin did have quite a bit in savings, but nowhere near enough to make someone want to kill her for her money.

She had two properties under her name; she lived in this one, and the other was a school district apartment that she rented out. Aside from that, she had only a few hundred thousand in savings.

The main thing was that Yu Xin’s grandma’s medical treatment had cost a lot, and when her grandma passed away Yu Xin was still in school. She had to pay tuition, buy things, plus lots of miscellaneous expenses. Over a year that added up. Like that, over two years she spent a lot, and now she only had a few hundred thousand left.

An Xin had also checked into Fang Zeyang’s family situation.

Fang Zeyang’s family wasn’t poor either; in Huacheng they counted as middle-class. Their savings were far more than Yu Xin’s; he really didn’t need to scheme like this.

Anning thought for a moment and decided to get some money together first.

After all, she was a cat now, and it was very inconvenient to do anything.

If she had money, given how developed the internet was now, she could do some things she wanted behind Yu Xin’s back.

Anning didn’t bother taking online gigs to earn money; she moved Yu Xin’s savings instead.

She transferred a sum from Yu Xin’s account to An Xin and had An Xin handle making money with it.

After she finished, she wiped all traces, shut the computer down, and went to sleep.

Yu Xin was probably exhausted; she got up quite late the next day, and it was already past eight when she got out of bed.

She glanced at the time, hurriedly poured some cat food for Anning, filled a small bowl with Water and set it in the room, then rushed through washing up and changing clothes. She left a few words and dashed off.

After Yu Xin left, Anning could reign supreme at home.

She found a way to open the fridge and fished out some dried small fish to eat. After thinking about it, she still felt a bit unsatisfied, so she ordered a takeaway herself and noted that it should be left at the door.

After ten-odd minutes, the delivery guy brought the meal Anning had ordered.

Once the delivery guy left, Anning opened the door and dragged the lunch inside.

She happily ate a big meal, and after she finished she even knew to erase the evidence, putting the takeaway boxes and such into a garbage bag and dragging it downstairs to throw in the bin.

Back in the room, Anning sprawled on the little quilt, limbs spread, and took a nap.

When she woke up, Yu Xin happened to be back.

"Dingding, you must be hungry. Big sis will make you some food."

Yu Xin came in, put her bag down, and came over to talk to Anning.

Anning meowed twice and lay there lazily, not wanting to move.

Yu Xin smiled, grabbed an apron, and went into the kitchen to start cooking.

She didn’t notice that as soon as she went into the kitchen, Anning jumped onto the coffee table and pressed a paw on the phone Yu Xin had left there.

Very quickly, the phone lit up.

Yu Xin put the rice in the cooker to steam, washed some greens, then thought for a bit and took out some ribs, planning to make braised pork ribs.

She was in the middle of cooking when she heard Anning meowing especially loudly.

"Dingding, don’t make trouble."

Yu Xin stuck her head out of the kitchen and saw Anning jumping around on the coffee table, and her phone screen was lit up as if it was playing something.

"Dingding, you’re being naughty again. You can’t play with big sis’s phone."

Yu Xin thought Anning had accidentally turned her phone on, so she headed over to put the phone in her pocket.

She walked up to the coffee table and lowered her head to pick up the phone, but just as she reached out, she was scared by the video playing on the screen.

In the video, Fang Zeyang parked his car on the roadside, then took a cat out from the car.

Yu Xin looked at the cat in the video, then at Dingding. The cat in the video looked exactly the same as Dingding; there was no doubt it was her.

"When did you go out with Zeyang?"

Yu Xin frowned. "You two never got along, did you?"

But once she saw what Fang Zeyang did to Anning, Yu Xin’s face changed drastically.

In the video, Fang Zeyang cursed at Anning viciously with a face full of disgust. Then he flung Anning away with a cruel motion. As the cat was thrown, her small body flew through the air, cleared the bridge railing, and was about to fall into the river. Yu Xin shrieked in fright, "Dingding..."

Panicked, she picked up the phone and watched the video again from beginning to end. Then she checked the time stamp on the video and her expression instantly turned complicated.

Yu Xin could work out that this video was recorded yesterday.

Looking at the light in the video, the time it was recorded overlapped with when Dingding had gone missing yesterday and the time she’d been frantically searching for her.

In other words, Dingding had been taken away by Fang Zeyang. With bad intentions, he’d wanted to take Dingding out and dump her. But for some unknown reason, Dingding hadn’t fallen into the river; she survived and somehow found her way home.

And right after Fang Zeyang dumped Dingding, he came over acting like nothing had happened to show concern and helped her look for Dingding. That showed just how hypocritical he was.

"Dingding."

Yu Xin picked Anning up and stroked her fur along the grain. "I’m sorry. It’s all big sis’s fault. I didn’t protect you. I almost lost you."

"Meow."

Anning rested her head in the crook of Yu Xin’s arm, meowing to comfort her.

Yu Xin was both furious and heartbroken. "I really never thought he was that kind of person."

She thought of all the times before when Dingding had tugged at her and wouldn’t let her go out with Fang Zeyang. She’d always thought Dingding was playing or just making a fuss. Thinking back now, Dingding had probably seen what kind of person Fang Zeyang was long ago, that’s why she kept trying to stop her.

She also thought about how every time Fang Zeyang proposed to her, Dingding would pop out and sabotage it.

Before, she’d felt a bit resentful toward Dingding, but now she was starting to feel grateful.

Fang Zeyang went to such lengths even against a cat, putting on one face in public and another in private. That showed his character was never any good. He looked so gentle and considerate to her on the surface—who knew what he was thinking behind her back.

A two-faced person like Fang Zeyang could never truly love her.

It was like this already now; if she actually married him, she’d probably suffer endlessly.

Yu Xin thought about many things in that moment. She saved the video, put the phone in her pocket, and carried Anning back into the kitchen.

In the bar, Fang Zeyang held a glass of wine and watched the men and women go wild on the dance floor. He curled his lips in a smile and downed the drink in one go.

"What, no Yu beauty keeping you company tonight?"

A man about the same age as Fang Zeyang wobbled over with a drink and sat down.

Fang Zeyang smiled. "I can’t always be with my girlfriend and not my bros, right?"

The man laughed and clinked glasses with him. "Man, when are you going to finally win the beauty over? All of us brothers are sweating on your behalf."

"Soon." Fang Zeyang looked utterly confident. "Give it a bit more time and I’ll propose to her. She doesn’t have a single relative now and she’s gotten used to having me around. I figure she’ll say yes."

The man laughed and shook his head. "I really don’t get what spell you’re under, chasing after Yu beauty like this. Back in high school you were our school’s prince, remember? Tons of girls were chasing you like crazy, and some of them weren’t any worse off than that Yu girl. Oh right, you know Lan Yiyi, right? She’s a famous rich second generation in Huacheng. She liked you back then. If you’d gotten together with Lan Yiyi, think how many years of struggle you could’ve skipped."

Fang Zeyang poured another drink, leaned back in his chair with the glass in hand, looking at ease. "But I just like Yu Xin."

In his heart, sure, Lan Yiyi’s family was rich, but how could she compare to Yu Xin? Yu Xin might look like an orphan now, seemingly with nothing, but in the future she would be the only heir of the richest man.
