The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master

Chapter 231: Love Token

Chapter 231: Love Token

Vera Xavier was stunned. Even though it was only the nineties and jade hadn’t yet been hyped up to astronomical prices, Emperor Green was called Emperor Green for a reason. Besides being exceptionally rare, it was also incredibly expensive. A small Emperor Green pendant could easily cost several hundred thousand, yet he had agreed in a heartbeat.

She lifted her eyes to look at him. Seeing her beautiful, bright face filled with astonishment, he said in a placid tone, "Just consider it a token of our engagement."

For a moment, Vera Xavier couldn’t quite describe the feeling in her heart. Romance novels always say that when judging a man, it isn’t about whether he has money, but whether he’s willing to spend it on you. For this fool to offer such a figure right off the bat could only prove one thing: he already had genuine feelings for her.

She chuckled and said, "Emperor Green is too expensive. If my stone doesn’t actually yield any, you can just get me an ice-type jade pendant instead."

Nathaniel Nathan looked disdainful. "That kind of cheap stuff is beneath me."

Vera Xavier: "..."

’Ice-type jade isn’t cheap, either! A high-quality pendant can cost tens of thousands, you know? How is that beneath you?!’

She pursed her lips slightly and said, "I still believe my stone can produce an Emperor Green!"

Nathaniel Nathan wondered, ’To make her happy, should I go buy a rough stone that has just been cut to reveal Emperor Green and give it to her?’

After a moment of thought, he decided it was a feasible plan.

After he finished applying the medicine for Vera Xavier, he put the rough stone in his bag. This time, no one else from the Preston Family was home, so he couldn’t be bothered to climb the wall again. He simply carried the stone on his back and walked out of the Preston residence.

The guard at the compound gate was utterly baffled. He was sure he hadn’t seen Nathaniel Nathan come in. Where did he just pop out from?

After leaving with the stone, Nathaniel Nathan first made a call to the chief of the local police station. The phone on the other end rang for a long time before it was picked up. Even through the line, he could hear heart-wrenching screams in the background. A junior officer answered and quickly fetched the chief.

The chief was on the verge of being driven mad by Rona Langdon. Although he was a veteran officer, this was the first time he had ever encountered someone as difficult as her. He was feeling thoroughly exasperated and irritable from the whole ordeal, so his tone wasn’t pleasant when he answered the phone.

Nathaniel Nathan said lightly, "Jacobs, I’m sorry to have caused you trouble."

The chief sighed as soon as he heard his voice. "It’s fine. She’s just... a little more unreasonable than the average person."

"It’s good that you’re sticking to your principles, but don’t make things too difficult for yourself. If it’s too much trouble, just release her tomorrow morning," Nathaniel Nathan said calmly.

But the chief said, "According to regulations, this situation requires a minimum of twenty-four hours of detention. She can’t be released until tomorrow afternoon."

"I appreciate your hard work, then. But really, for someone causing this much of a scene, you’re well within your rights to just lock her up." Nathaniel Nathan hung up as soon as he finished speaking.

The chief’s anger flared. Rona Langdon’s ability to throw a tantrum was first-class. She could cry, make a scene, roar, and scream. From a distance, she would curse up a storm. When anyone got close, she would try to take off her clothes and scream about being assaulted. She had thrown the entire police station into chaos, and a crowd of locals had even gathered to watch the spectacle.

The chief came out and shouted, "Get two female officers and throw her into a holding cell!"

When Rona Langdon saw he was serious and two tall, sturdy female officers began to surround her, she couldn’t be bothered with Cara Preston anymore. She ran off, muttering curses as she went.

Seeing her leave, the chief let out a huge sigh of relief. It felt no different from seeing off a god of plague!
