The Broken Halo

Chapter 324: Slap!

Chapter 324: Slap!

"Watch both daggers carefully...or you might die."

The first years could not understand what Instructor Aphon meant by these words, but what they could feel was the heaviness in the air.

"I’ll throw these two daggers along with a few more daggers at you guys, and you’ll have to pay attention to it."

"The daggers will move randomly and attack anyone of you. Watch the daggers and be attentive."

"Dodge if you have to."

Many of the first years were baffled at Instructor Aphon’s choice of words.

Dodge?

Why do they need to dodge the attack of an Instructor when he was not planning on killing them?

Even Simon was baffled.

Unfortunately for them, Instructor Aphon was more of a demon of action than of words.

He flicked one of the daggers across the steps and it flew toward the wall.

Everybody watched the dagger, but in the next moment, another dagger flew behind the dagger and hit it.

Ting!

The sound of thin metals clashing echoed in the classroom, and to the surprise of many, the first dagger suddenly changed its trajectory while the second dagger was now flying to the wall.

Everybody was watching the first dagger with rapt attention, but the eyes of a particular Initiate suddenly widened in disbelief and shock when he saw that the dagger was coming for him.

"Shit!"

He cursed and tried to dodge, but he was too slow.

Whoosh!

The dagger moved past his shoulder, but it did not touch his body or clothes.

Before the Initiate could breathe a sigh of relief, a thin cut suddenly appeared on his ear as a dagger flew past him.

The Initiate was frozen in fear, and with trembling hands, he touched his ear and looked at his fingers.

"Blood?"

Just as the Initiate had this thought, a scream echoed in the classroom, forcing him to look at the source.

It was a female Initiate, and she was covering a thin cut on her shoulder.

A few moments later, the class became filled with screams and curses of initiates as they were attacked by the two flying daggers.

Some dodged one dagger, but fail to react in time to dodge the other.

Some failed to dodge a single dagger.

And a few were able to dodge both daggers, either due to skill or luck.

At some point, those who were perceptive enough began to notice that the number of flying daggers was no longer two but three.

The panic in the hearts of the Initiates increased, and the class became even more chaotic.

Ting!

Ting!

Ting!

Ting!

From wall to wall, from wall to dagger, from dagger to dagger.

The daggers moved erratically, and at some point again, the numbers increased to four.

When there was just three daggers, they realized that one of the daggers served only as a distraction and would actually never hit anybody’s body.

Whenever an Initiate was targeted, two daggers would always attack the Initiate, not just one.

And when there were four daggers flying around the classroom, majority of the class could not sit still.

Curses and screams filled the classroom, and the previously quite classroom was no more.

Those who tried to remain calm felt like their eyes were overworking themselves.

Left

Right

Up

Down

Front

Back

They were looking all around, but doing this made many to fail.

Simon and Sunless were both seated calmly unlike nearly all their classmates.

Even when a dagger passed in front of them or above their heads, they remained seated with calm demeanors.

For Simon, this class was extremely easy to him because he had a cheat.

His high wind affinity.

He could literally perceive the changes in the wind as the daggers approached him, and this allowed him to know what daggers had the intent to cut him and which one did not.

While he was focusing on the flying daggers with ease, a part of his attention was on his classmates who were moving about like clowns.

’Can’t they see that the handles of the daggers are different? Two have black handles, while the other two have red handles.’

’If a black handle dagger is coming for you, just look for the other black handle dagger. If it’s a red handle dagger, do the same.’

’Besides, I believe I’ve gotten the pattern the instructor is using whenever he moves the daggers.’

Simon glanced at the Instructor who was folding his arms while his four eyes moved and traced the four daggers.

’It’s quite surprising to see a Mind Reaver Demon. They are quite rare after all...and dangerous too.’

In the beginning, the constant collision and movement of the daggers was all a thing of pure throwing skill and calculations.

But now, Instructor Aphon was using his abilities to control the daggers.

This is the main reason why none of the students had serious injuries.

However, it’s certain that many were traumatized by the actions of the instructor.

"Stop."

Instructor Aphon’s voice resounded in the classroom, and the daggers came to a complete halt.

Two were about to collide with the wall, one was extremely close to an initiate’s neck, the last was behind the same initiate’s head.

The Initiate was extremely terrified.

There was silence, but it was disturbed by the rough and loud breathing of the fearful students.

Instructor Aphon was about to speak, but one of the Initiates could no longer take it.

"Fuck this shit! I didn’t sign up for an Instructor to cut me into pieces! This course isn’t even compulsory. I’m out of here!"

The Initiate had nearly a dozen cuts all over his body and clothes, and without hesitation, he stood and ran to the door.

Everybody watched him, then they looked at Instructor Aphon, wanting to see his reaction.

For some, if Instructor Aphon allowed the Initiate to leave, then they would follow.

They were here to learn, not to be cut to pieces.

Unfortunately for them, Instructor Aphon was a demon of actions, not words.

Just as the Initiate was about to step out of the door, he suddenly found out that he couldn’t.

"Huh?"

He looked down, and he saw a bundle of extremely thin black threads curled around his waist.

"What? When?"

Before he could comprehend what was going on, Instructor Aphon gently pulled his hand, and the Initiate was sent flying toward him.

Then...

PA!

Instructor Aphon slapped the unfortunate Initiate and he was sent flying.

Bang!
