Chapter 702 - 182 Do You Dare Say You Haven’t Fallen in Love with Ning Wan? _2

Xi Mohan remained motionless, his tall and straight figure presenting an imposing presence as he stood before Song Qiao. His gaze shifted slightly and he looked through the door’s glass window into the hospital room. In truth, he couldn’t see anything because of the viewing angle; all that was visible was a wall. Yet, it was as though he had seen the woman lying in the room; his thin lips twitched slightly, and in a deep voice that seemed to overflow from the depths of his throat, he asked, "How is she?"

Song Qiao, frowning at the man before her, couldn’t restrain the impatience on her face and responded coolly, "She is fine. But Xi Mohan, you should know that she doesn’t want to see you. If you could be a bit more benevolent, could you please not show up in front of her in the future?"

The expression in Xi Mohan’s eyes darkened considerably, but he remained silent and unmoved.

Staring at Xi Mohan’s indifferent stance, as if nothing she said could affect him, Song Qiao felt overwhelming exhaustion and continued indifferently, "Don’t you still have Ning Yan’er? Xi Mohan, since you chose Ning Yan’er in the first place, stop tormenting Ning Wan. Her health is not good; she just lost a three-month-old baby due to a miscarriage from a car accident, and her chances of having children in the future are slim to none. Even if her parents once owed the Xi Family a lot, she has fully repaid you now. She owes you nothing anymore."

Xi Mohan stood still, but his body stiffened the moment he heard what Song Qiao said.

A chill slowly spread from the soles of his feet throughout his body, making him feel as if he had fallen into an ice cavern, with coldness assaulting him from all directions.

Worried that Xi Mohan might disturb Ning Wan in the hospital room once she left, Song Qiao did not leave. Instead, she phoned Zhang Ma to help her grandfather prepare dinner and asked her to bring some chicken soup along.

Upon hearing that Ning Wan was hospitalized, Zhang Ma was startled and anxiously asked if anything serious had happened. Song Qiao didn’t elaborate over the phone but did reveal to Zhang Ma about Ning Wan’s miscarriage.

Hearing this, Zhang Ma felt an instant surge of pity for Ning Wan, who she had always liked not just because she was their young mistress’s close friend, but also because of her amiable nature and easy-going personality. Previously, she often visited the old master, and treated her, the servant, very well, always bringing something delicious for both the old master and herself whenever she visited the hospital.

Lu Jingchen went straight to the hospital after work; he had called Song Qiao before leaving work, and knowing she was at the hospital, he offered to pick her up and take her home.

Arriving at the hospital room, he indeed saw the man standing by the door like a statue. Raising his eyebrows slightly, he walked up to Xi Mohan, curling his lips slightly as he said, "You didn’t go to the office today, did you? Have you been here all day?"

Upon hearing Lu Jingchen’s voice, Xi Mohan slightly raised his head to look at him, then stood straight and rubbed his brow without denying, just responding with a light hum.

Lu Jingchen let out a mocking laugh, saying, "It must be hard for you. She in the room doesn’t want to see you, yet you’ve stayed here for so long. And I heard you didn’t return to your villa last night. Did you stay in the hospital to accompany her all night?"

Xi Mohan remained silent, thereby accepting it.

Yet, looking at him, Lu Jingchen curled his lips and said, "Mo Han, can you really say that you haven’t fallen in love with Ning Wan?"

He reached into his pocket, pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and took a drag. The blue-gray smoke clouded his vision momentarily before he spoke, "Jingchen, you should know, Ning Wan and I will never be possible."

"Is there really no chance? Chances are often created by oneself."

Xi Mohan gazed at the floor, a cold smirk curling his lips as he spoke, "What she lost wasn’t just her child; it was my child too."

"I know," Lu Jingchen had guessed as much; if not Xi Mohan’s, whose else could the child Ning Wan was carrying be?

The three-month-old baby corresponded precisely to the time Xi Mohan had forcibly taken Ning Wan right after he returned to the country.

Unless it meant that Ning Wan had another man, but he knew Ning Wan well enough to nearly rule out that possibility.

Xi Mohan didn’t look at Lu Jingchen, only at the blue-gray smoke, as if trying to see something through it. Just when Lu Jingchen thought the man would no longer speak, he finally said softly, "This child might have been the only child I’ll ever have in my life."

This might have been the only child I’ll ever have in my life...

The man’s words echoed slowly in the corridor, each word crisply entering Lu Jingchen’s ears.

Hearing these words, Lu Jingchen seemed to ponder a terrifying possibility, directly addressing Xi Mohan, "I can hardly understand what you just said. What about Ning Yan’er? By saying these words so definitively, where do you place Yan’er?"

"I’m planning to cancel our engagement," Lu Jingchen’s words had hardly left his mouth when Xi Mohan had already extinguished the cigarette in his hand and spoke straightforwardly, "We are not suitable for each other. She can find a better man; she would only be wasting her time and youth on me."
