Her eyes half-closed as she avoided his gaze, she reached out to tuck a lock of hair that had fallen in front of her behind her ear. The movement seemed casual, but carried a hint of unprecedented seduction, her voice low, "Since you say so, of course I would believe you. Your tone sounds as if you think I wouldn’t believe..."

"You indeed did not believe what I said." She had just finished when the man interrupted her directly, his voice low and tone light, "If you did believe, would you still ask me that question?"

Song Qiao lowered her gaze, and for a moment, said nothing.

Yet, she couldn’t help but start cursing the man in her mind, with his skills, how could it be possible that she was his only woman?

However, hearing Lu Jingchen speak in such a way did give Song Qiao considerable comfort. The slight anxiety stirred by Zuo Yuqing had now settled peacefully.

The waiter quickly served the food Lu Jingchen had ordered. Song Qiao looked at the steak in front of her, slightly pursed her lips with some dissatisfaction, "Why did you order steak for me?"

The man turned his head and looked down at her, his deep voice spilling out from the depths of his throat, "Don’t like it?"

Song Qiao shook her head, gritted her teeth slightly, and said, "It’s not that I don’t like it, but cutting steak is a bit troublesome, and I’m not very good at it."

She rarely ate Western food, usually opting for Chinese cuisine. One reason was that the portions in Western cuisine were small, which for someone with her robust appetite, was somewhat insufficient.

Having heard her, Lu Jingchen then remembered how she almost always ordered pasta during the few times they had eaten Western food together, realizing that she found steak cutting troublesome and couldn’t be bothered with it.

He reached out to bring her steak over to his side, and pushed the soup in front of him towards her, "Drink some soup first, I’ll cut it for you."

Song Qiao hummed twice in response, neither accepting nor refusing Lu Jingchen’s offer.

"Jingchen?" Just then, a surprised female voice entered Song Qiao’s ears, carrying a hint of familiarity.

Song Qiao paused her hand holding the spoon, sharply looked up, and narrowed her eyes dangerously upon seeing the arrival. When she spotted the man with his arm around the woman, her lips curled into a mocking smile, and she lowered her gaze nonchalantly to resume drinking soup.

Lu Jingchen looked up at the newcomers, glanced at Song Qiao beside him seeing her drinking soup as if nothing had happened, then calmly addressed the newcomers, "Yan’er, when did you get back? Are the two of you out for a meal together? Have you eaten yet?"

The arrivals were indeed Xi Mohan and Ning Wan’s so-called sister, Ning Yan’er.

Xi Mohan, with Ning Yan’er on his arm, approached Lu Jingchen’s table. His face still wore an indifferent expression, silent.

Ning Yan’er, wearing a knee-length sleeveless dress that fit her status as a young lady, had her hair done up and a graceful, perfect smile on her face. Holding onto Xi Mohan’s arm, she smiled and nodded, "Yes, we were shopping nearby and didn’t expect to meet you here for lunch, what a coincidence." As she spoke, her gaze fell on Song Qiao, who was quietly sipping her soup. Her eyes flickered, subconsciously asking, "Jingchen, this lady is...?"

"My wife, Song Qiao!"

Now that she was directly named, Song Qiao no longer pretended to be invisible, and lifted her gaze towards Ning Yan’er and Xi Mohan, with a cunning and charming smile, though it didn’t reach her eyes, "Miss Ning, Mr. Xi, long time no see."

Possibly because Ning Yan’er hadn’t seen Song Qiao in years, she didn’t recognize her right away, only feeling slightly familiar and inexplicably hostile towards this woman, but she couldn’t recall who she was at the moment.

Now, after Lu Jingchen mentioned Song Qiao’s name and then Song Qiao spoke up, Ning Yan’er instantly recalled Ning Wan’s close friend.

Ning Yan’er looked at Song Qiao in front of her, her complexion changing for a moment but quickly recovering, directly looking towards Lu Jingchen, who was cutting the steak, and said with a smile, "I can’t believe you’re actually married. I thought Mo Han was joking with me."

Lu Jingchen hummed indifferently and placed the nicely cut steak in front of Song Qiao, speaking gently yet with a hint of pampering, "It’s cut now, eat up!"

Those words almost made Song Qiao spit out her soup.

Seeing Song Qiao choked a bit by the soup, Lu Jingchen remained unbothered, patted her back, said ’keep it down’ and then looked up at the two still standing before them, making an invitation, "Would you like to sit down and eat with us?"

"Hmm, sure!" To everyone’s surprise, Xi Mohan, who had been silent all along, didn’t refuse Lu Jingchen’s request and after speaking softly, he let Ning Yan’er be seated first, before taking a seat beside her.

The two men seemed to be totally at ease, raising their hands to call over the waiter to place their orders.

Apart from Ning Yan’er looking at Song Qiao across from her with a slightly peculiar expression, the atmosphere among the four was quite good.

Noticing Ning Yan’er’s gaze, Song Qiao lifted her eyes towards her, her face already wearing a sly and charming smile, her voice soft, "Miss Ning, staring at me like that, I’m going to feel embarrassed to eat."
