Chapter 822: Thank God We’re All Safe
Chapter 822: Thank God We’re All Safe
Atlas and Lola had never been this happy to see Penny. But tonight, she made their night. No, not just their night, but their future.
After dropping that bomb, Penny happily pushed herself up and told them she would leave so as not to disturb their couple time.
"Goodness..." Lola let out a short breath as she lay beside him, the bed still inclined. She wiped the corners of her eyes and looked up to meet his gaze. "I don’t like Mother Reverend much, but... she’s like... a guardian angel."
"A guardian angel might be a stretch," Atlas let out a shallow chuckle, though he nodded. "But I’m grateful someone like her was around the cardinal."
Even if the thought that Lola had lost her children once tore her sanity apart and led her to Vito, they understood.
Back then, Lola didn’t have the capacity to protect her children against a massive force like the Church.
Atlas and his family, on the other hand, had the resources to protect the twins.
They also had to consider that Lawrence and Jasmine’s decision to force Lola to undergo sterilization might have come from their own reasons. However, it wouldn’t have been impossible for the cardinal to make her barren himself.
He was obsessed with Lola, after all.
Giving her birth control instead was something Roth and Mother Reverend were forced to do to protect Lola from another attempt by the cardinal.
"I’m just really happy." Tears brimmed in Lola’s eyes again as her voice choked. "I really thought... I really..."
Atlas pulled her into his embrace, letting her cry freely in his arms while he gently patted her back. His expression softened, his heart filled with quiet relief.
Perhaps... she really was like a guardian angel, he thought. And maybe a knight in shining armor too.
But then again, it wasn’t the Church that was evil.
It was the cardinal who had taken advantage of people’s faith and weaponized it for his own gain.
That was why the holy ground became what it was.
Which made the situation strange in its own way.
The Church was already against the secret society, but it was also fighting against itself.
"Me too," Atlas whispered as he continued patting her back. "I’m... very grateful for their help."
That night, Lola cried until she calmed down. Afterward, they talked about the preparations she needed to make.
One of them was checking whether the birth control had completely dissolved. If it was still there, she planned to have it removed.
Then, once Atlas fully recovered, they could try.
And try.
And try.
They already did it often anyway, and the twins were a little older now. Not to mention, the cardinal had fallen — their biggest and last enemy.
So it might be the perfect time for baby number three.

Days later...
"Daddy~!"
Atlas turned toward the door just as it burst open.
His children ran into the ward, bright smiles on their faces as their little legs carried them straight to him. They climbed onto the bed without hesitation.
"Daddy!" Chacha shouted as she sat beside him, beaming.
Second shouted the same while settling on his other side. "Daddy!"
Lola walked in after them with a light chuckle.
"I thought I should bring them here since everything’s almost settled."
Atlas smiled subtly at his wife.
But when he turned back to the twins, his smile froze ever so slightly.
Seeing his expression, Chacha and Second’s smiles faded.
Chacha thought nervously,
Why is Daddy looking at us like that? Did he find out I secretly ordered that I get to do his autopsy? And that I planned to make him a DNR so he could donate his organs?
Second, meanwhile, wondered,
Did he find out I changed his will to make Renny his heir?
Lola had been busy here, and Atlas had been unconscious in the hospital for days. That meant the twins had also been busy in the Order, preparing themselves just in case their father never returned home.
After all, they needed to take care of their mother.
Then Atlas spoke. "Were you scared?"
The twins jolted slightly when his gentle hands rested on their heads. They slowly looked up at him, their eyes wide.
They blinked, almost shocked by the soft expression on their father’s face.
"Hehe," the twins giggled faintly.
Then Chacha asked, "Daddy... does almost dying change people?"
"Haha." Lola chuckled before her phone suddenly buzzed. "I’ll take this."
She had already spent time with the twins on the way here, so leaving them alone with Atlas should be fine. With that, she stepped out to take the call.
Atlas and the twins watched her leave quietly.
But the moment the door closed, Atlas spoke again.
"Autopsy in your presence?" he asked calmly. "And Renny as my heir?"
The twins froze.
Slowly, their stiff necks turned toward him like rusted gears. Now they were certain the goosebumps they felt earlier weren’t just imagination.
Atlas let out a faint huff as he looked between them.
Leaning back against the headboard, he crossed his arms.
"Chacha," he said, "why would you order a DNR for me? Do you even know what that means?"
"Yes!" she answered proudly, sitting straighter. "I’m planning to donate Daddy’s organs to everyone! Even your finger if they can!"
"Why?"
"So that if Daddy dies, his organs can help people who need them!" she exclaimed brightly. "That way Mommy won’t be sad!"
Atlas raised a brow before shifting his gaze to Second. "Changing my will?"
Second pouted. "Daddy, if you died, I needed to take Mommy away from here. I promised I would be the man of the house and protect Chacha and Mommy. So, I need to take them away from the place that made them sad."
Seeing Atlas frown, Chacha puffed her cheeks.
Even though they had been busy preparing for the worst, deep in their hearts, they still hoped their father would come home.
They prayed for that every single day.
"Hah..." Atlas let out a soft breath before reaching out and ruffling their hair. "Good work."
The twins blinked and stared up at him. He was smiling — faintly, but proudly.
"You two... made me very proud," he murmured. "Thank you."
Their lips trembled, and their eyes filled with tears. Before they knew it, they were already wailing as they threw themselves into his arms.
"Daddy! Please don’t die and stay with us!" Chacha cried loudly in his ear. "We miss you very very very much! And I want to stay with my daddy!"
Second sobbed, "Just stay with us even if you become an ice statue!"
"With you around, we won’t need air conditioning anymore!"
"Daddy, help the world conserve energy! So, live a very long long life!"
They cried loudly in his arms while Atlas gently patted their backs. He chuckled and glanced toward the door, noticing it slid open slightly.
Lola stood there quietly, watching. Atlas nodded at her while she grinned at the sight of their children crying and shouting nonsense.
"I guess... they’ve been holding it in," she whispered.
Looking at her husband and children together, she sighed softly.
"Thank God we’re all safe."
