Chapter 237: Change of Heroine
Chapter 237: Change of Heroine
Coralie Hughes was full of confusion, her steps quick as if wind beneath her feet.
She needed to go upstairs and check!
To see what was really going on!
Coralie was in such a hurry that she didn’t notice Summer Monroe watching her back, a cold smile tugging at her lips.
At that moment, someone noticed Summer coming down, warmly linking arms with her and asking, "Miss Monroe, did you hurt yourself just now?"
Summer shook her head, her gaze turning to the projector in front, asking, "What’s everyone watching?"
The person enthusiastically explained, "We’re looking at the Hughes Family’s interior design. Speaking of it, Eldest Miss Hughes is quite considerate. Some people wanted to visit the villa, so she brought over a projector. See? It’s showing videos of all their rooms."
Listening, Summer looked deeply at the video footage; indeed, they were surveillance videos of the various rooms.
So, Coralie wanted to put on a live show for her!
But now it seems, the star of this live show has changed.
She curved her lips faintly and said to the servant, "Can we revisit the rooms after watching? I just came downstairs and missed quite a few rooms."
The servant was grateful to Summer, immediately agreeing, "Sure, once we’ve seen all the rooms, I’ll take you around again."
"Thank you." Summer smiled lightly, though there was no smile in her eyes.
Harming others ultimately harms oneself; since Coralie and Stella Monroe used such vicious tactics, she wouldn’t be soft-hearted either.
They say to pick the weakest target, but they clearly picked the wrong one.
Second floor.
Coralie had reached the room where Summer had just been.
But Coralie didn’t enter immediately. She calculated the time, and when she thought the screen downstairs was no longer showing this room’s surveillance, she pushed open the door.
The room was quiet and empty.
Coralie’s eyes darted around the room and suddenly landed on the scented candle she had placed.
The candle was still burning.
But she wasn’t worried because Felix Jennings had said the drug in the candle wick would burn out in ten minutes, and once volatilized, it would linger in the air for only fifteen minutes.
By now, it had been well over fifteen minutes since she had lit the wick.
She was safe.
Coralie walked to the bedside, her mind pondering why the drug was ineffective on Summer.
But unable to figure it out, she decided to take out her phone to call Mason Monroe.
Just as she was about to press the dial button, a sound came from the bathroom, as if someone was inside.
Frowning, Coralie asked, "Who’s there!"
The bathroom door was pushed open from inside, and the next second, Coralie’s eyes widened in shock.
Ryder Quinn!
Ryder Quinn, how could he be here?
Coralie was both surprised and delighted; could it be that Ryder regretted canceling the engagement and came here to find her?
For a moment, Coralie doubted her own eyes, rubbing them hard twice, but when she opened them again, it was still Ryder.
And "Ryder Quinn," seeing her, seemed equally surprised and delighted.
From the bathroom doorway, just waking from a deep sleep, Mason Monroe raised his eyes and saw Coralie.
He was about to ask Coralie what had happened to him when he saw her walking towards him with such delight.
In his memory, Coralie had never looked at him like that, and for a moment, Mason was stunned.
Coralie took a few steps to reach Mason, cautiously asking, "Why, why are you here?"
