The Billionaire CEO Wants to Marry Me Every Day

Chapter 229: I’m Here to Help You

Chapter 229: I’m Here to Help You

Coralie Hughes confirmed that she didn’t know this man and lifted her foot to walk around him.

She didn’t want to stay another second at this birthday party because it had long ceased to be her birthday party and had become Summer Monroe’s "show-off party."

But the man reached out to block her again, curled his lips into a smile, and said, "Nice to meet you, Miss Hughes."

Coralie Hughes was momentarily stunned upon hearing the voice, then said in surprise, "You’re the one who contacted me on behalf of Stella Monroe over the phone!"

Instinctively, Coralie glanced towards the hall, seeing Summer laughing and chatting with others, not paying attention to her. She breathed a sigh of relief and turned back to say, "Let’s go to the back garden."

With that, she walked past the man and led the way to the back garden first.

The man followed closely, and the two quickly disappeared by the doorway.

But neither noticed that as soon as they turned, Summer’s gaze precisely fell on their retreating backs.

That should be Felix Jennings.

Summer narrowed her cold eyes, her lips curved into a barely noticeable deep smile.

"Miss Monroe? Miss Monroe?" The speaker looked in the direction of Summer’s gaze in confusion, and curiously asked, "What are you looking at so intently?"

"Nothing," Summer retracted her gaze, smiling, "just a feeling, like it might rain."

"Rain?" The other person tilted their head in puzzlement and said, "The weather isn’t muggy today, how could it rain?"

Summer simply smirked, "Because there are no stars."

Her words were a pun, but the other person clearly didn’t catch the other meaning, merely nodding and saying, "It seems there aren’t many stars in the sky. But here in Crestfall, with all the bright lights, it’s normal not to see stars.

Night deepened.

In the back garden, only a few ground lights were lit. The night sky in Crestfall was starless, the light dim, making it a great spot for conversation.

The man took off his hat, revealing his sharp and rugged features. Though he was older, it was easy to see he had been an extremely handsome man in his youth.

Unfortunately, the long scar on his face was somewhat off-putting.

The man’s face lit up with a smile as he began to speak, "Hello Miss Hughes, I’m Felix Jennings, Stella Monroe’s assistant. I’m here to help you."

After everything she’d been through just now, Coralie Hughes’s haughty demeanor as a rich girl remained unchanged.

She snorted coldly and said harshly, "Help me? Just you? Stella Monroe’s been sent to a temple by Summer Monroe, what can an assistant do? I’d rather rely on myself! I had you come here to talk just so it wouldn’t raise suspicions. Just go quickly!"

Felix Jennings lifted his eyelids, smiling faintly, "Miss Hughes, I saw everything that happened just now. If you hadn’t acted on your own and ignored our arrangements, it wouldn’t have come to this."

Coralie Hughes choked on her words but quickly explained, "That was just an accident! Who knew Clarissa Stanton would wear that dress? That fool, Leslie could achieve anything but fail!"

Felix Jennings, who treasured what Stella Monroe cherished, naturally held Clarissa Stanton in high regard as Stella was the woman he loved most.

Hearing Coralie speak this way, he responded displeased, "Miss Hughes, do you really think this was just an accident? Was it really just a coincidence that just after Clarissa left the temple, she put on your dress and attended the birthday party?"

Coralie Hughes’s expression stiffened, frowning as she asked, "What do you mean by that?"
