Chapter 155: Isn’t It All Because of You

Chapter 155: Isn’t It All Because of You

She handed a pack of tissues to the little assistant and stuffed the other things in her arms to Isaac. Then she stepped forward towards Damian Knight.

"Damian Knight."

As soon as Summer Monroe walked over, the little boy ran over to her with joy, reaching out to hug her leg.

But before the little boy could touch Summer’s foot, he suddenly felt a tug on his collar. The next moment, his feet were off the ground, and his whole body was lifted by a large hand.

The little boy turned his head in shock, only to see Damian Knight holding him up like a little chick, his handsome face dark and stern.

"Didn’t your family teach you that boys and girls shouldn’t be touching each other so casually?"

The little boy was frightened by Damian Knight’s cold eyes.

If even adults can’t handle Damian Knight’s icy gaze, how could a child?

The little boy looked up and began to cry loudly, "Waaaah..."

The boy’s mother instinctively ran over, but when she was a meter away, she hesitated and stopped.

She... she had no face to protect her son.

Her son understood what she didn’t, it was no wonder everyone criticized her.

She really... shouldn’t have done that.

Summer noticed the dim look on the little boy’s mother’s face and paused for a moment, then said, "Damian Knight, give the child back to his mother. You’ve scared him."

Damian Knight wrinkled his nose; he had never raised a child, how would he know they’re so easily frightened?

What a hassle!

Damian Knight put the little boy directly in front of the boy’s mother, with no expression on his face, he said, "Here’s your crybaby back. Don’t let me hear you talk that way again."

The child, with a short memory, after being frightened, pounced into his mother’s arms the moment he landed.

The woman quickly picked up her son.

It wasn’t until her son wrapped his arms around her too that she finally felt her son was really alive.

"Son... it’s mommy’s fault..." She held her son and started to cry, sobbing.

It took a while for her crying to stop. She looked at Summer, opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end, she just held her son and bowed towards Summer.

At this moment, silence spoke louder than words; her bow conveyed all her gratitude and apology.

I’m sorry, thank you.

Summer nodded slightly at the woman, forgiving her easily.

The woman was just anxious. She didn’t really mean any harm, and if she had lost her foster parents and brother, who knows how she might have collapsed.

Empathy.

Damian Knight saw through her thoughts, snorted slightly, and said, "You’re the good guy, leaving me to play the villain."

Summer pretended to glare at Damian Knight with feigned anger and said, "Oh, don’t mention it! Didn’t you promise me you’d come down as soon as possible? Do you know you nearly scared me... and Isaac to death!"

Damian Knight’s eyes deepened at her first words, but by the end, that depth was replaced by a fleeting loneliness.

He curled a corner of his mouth, muttering softly, "It’s all because of you..."

Summer didn’t hear him clearly and asked in confusion, "What did you say?"

Damian Knight pulled a book from the inner pocket of his jacket, and casually tossed it into her arms.

Summer instinctively caught what Damian Knight threw and looked down to see a slightly yellowed notebook.

She asked, puzzled, "What’s this?"

Damian Knight replied indifferently, "I don’t know if it’s what you’re looking for. Take a look yourself. I’m going to ask Isaac what’s going on."

With that, he stopped looking at Summer and walked towards Isaac.

Summer glanced at Damian Knight’s back, feeling that even his retreating form exuded an air of arrogance.

What on earth is it?
