716 Someone Was Following Them
716 Someone Was Following Them
It had reverted to just another ordinary pocket.
The space, and all the special elements stored within it, had disappeared.
What was going on?
Yu Chen turned to Yao Tang just in time to see her reach out her hand. In the next second, the fruits on the tree beside her disappeared into thin air. The rare metal ores on the ground were also gone.
Yu Chen's eyes almost popped out of their sockets as he stared at her in disbelief.
He could no longer deny it; the space had indeed changed its master!
If Yao Tang could manipulate it this easily, then it also meant that the owner's data that had previously been imprinted on the space had also been successfully altered.
Moreover, the space seemed to be working perfectly despite changing hands.
But what baffled him the most was the fact that the space had clearly been filled to the brim. Yao Tang had stuffed heaps of metal ores into it just now.
As far as Yu Chen knew, the space was not capable of carrying so much, no matter how its owner forced its limits.
"How did you do that? That's impossible!" he blurted out in shock.
Before this, no one truly believed that there existed a person who could control space.
Yao Tang blinked at his bewildered expression.
"What do you mean?" she asked nonchalantly. "It's not that difficult."
She looked calm as ever. Yu Chen couldn't even begin to imagine the commotion she would cause once the world found out about her ability.
If this girl was able to snatch the space from its owner and change the password, then she could easily steal other people's unprotected spaces as well. She could make a fortune out of this scheme.
"Let's go," Yao Tang suddenly said, leading Yu Chen in the direction of the cave.
They stopped just before the entrance. Yao Tang lifted her chin and gestured at Yu Chen. "Hurry and continue digging!"
"Sister, my dear, honorable Sister! Even if I continue digging until my fingers turned to dust, there's a limit to how much the space can hold. If things turn out badly, I might not even be able to take them all out."
Yao Tang merely raised an eyebrow in the face of his pleading.
Yu Chen shuddered at the cold look in her eyes. He raised his hands in surrender. "All right, I'll dig, I'll dig!"
He shuffled over to where she was pointing. He didn't know why, but whenever he came close to her, he felt a constant chill surrounding him.
Yu Chen also had the ominous feeling that his neck could be snapped backward at any given moment.
Yao Tang might not look that ruthless, but he didn't dare to take any chances. But if he did everything she ordered and performed his tasks well, he might have a better chance at survival.
Yu Chen got down on his haunches and started to dig as though his life depended on it.
After a while, he managed to extract a good number of ores. He had practically all that was in the area.
Yu Chen wiped the sweat off his brow and collapsed in exhaustion.
Just the thought of having to carry these heavy rocks down the mountain was already making his body ache. He heaved a long, mournful sigh.
Yao Tang, on the other hand, only glanced at her watch.
"Let's go," she drawled.
Yu Chen sat up wearily. "Please, Sister. Let me rest for a minute. I'm really tired."
No sooner had he finished speaking than he realized that all the metals and rocks he had dug up were nowhere to be seen.
Yu Chen's jaw dropped.
"Awesome!" he exclaimed in a daze.
…
The two trudged down the trail leading to the foot of the mountain. Halfway through their journey, Yu Chen began to sense that something was not right.
Someone was following them!
Granted, that person's tracking technique was commendable, and their stealth was very impressive, but Yu Chen had his own set of special skills.
"Sister!" he cried out in warning.
Little did he know that he was actually older than Yao Tang by a few years.
Even if he did, he would likely address her in the same manner, anyway.
After all, it was clear to him that Yao Tang was much more powerful, and was therefore worthy of his respect and loyalty.
Yao Tang could tell that Yu Chen wanted to say something else but hesitated. Nevertheless, she said nothing.
She continued to lead him down the mountain.
When they reached a dense forest, they were greeted by the sound of a gurgling stream and birds chirping. It was rather pleasant.
Yao Tang finally stopped, her lithe figure standing still among the trees.
Yu Chen also stopped abruptly just a few steps behind her. When he realized what she was about to do, he scampered closer to her.
If a fight was about to happen, he needed to ensure his own safety.
"Come out," Yao Tang yelled, her voice carrying over into the distance.
Her face was still hidden behind her mask.
A few seconds later, a foreigner slowly emerged from the shrubbery.
He sported a sinister grin as he sized up both Yao Tang and Yu Chen.
"Little Sister," he nodded. "Take out the items, right now."
