He tenderly stroked the top of her head and gently kissed her forehead. "My punishment is..."
She listened patiently, but he deliberately held back.
She glared at him and said discontentedly, "What is it? Hurry up and say it. If you don’t, I won’t compensate you anymore."
"The punishment is that every morning when you wake up, you must say to me: I love you; I love you the most. If you say this to me every day, I’ll forgive you."
Adrian took the opportunity to seek benefits for himself. Sienna’s face turned red. Her eyes, having cried, were clearer, like the sky after a rain shower, reflecting Adrian’s smiling face.
"Then how should I punish you for not calling or texting me?"
"Didn’t you also not call or text me?"
"How is that the same!"
"How is it different?"
"You’re a man, and I’m a woman!"
"You’re just being argumentative!"
"That’s right, I am being argumentative. What are you going to do about it?" she said in a domineering and unreasonable manner.
"Then punish me too. Every morning when I wake up, I’ll say to you: I love you; I love the woman Sienna Johnson the most! How does that sound?"
It was very cheesy, but Sienna liked it. Even rational women have girlish dreams, it seems.
Her gaze was soft and shimmering as she looked at him and gently nodded.
Adrian held her without letting go, and Sienna didn’t struggle. The two leaned quietly against each other in the office.
"I miss you so much..." he whispered, expressing his longing. Sienna pressed her face against his chest and softly responded, "I miss you too."
"I went back to our home in Abyanabad. I haven’t touched the room you stayed in at all. But it’s been so long; your scent is gone from it... And Curly’s nursery in Abyanabad, he’s never once stayed in it since it was renovated..."
Sienna remained silent.
"After you’re done with your work for this period, how about our family goes back to Abyanabad to stay for a while?"
"The nursery you decorated isn’t for Curly; he doesn’t like your Mediterranean-style decor," Sienna joked.
"That’s okay. We can use it for our second baby."
"Adrian, you’re the one who married into my family. Stop thinking about your home in Abyanabad. You are a son-in-law in Orienta. In Orienta, there’s a saying: ’When you marry a chicken, you follow the chicken; when you marry a dog, you follow the dog.’ From now on, this is your home! You’re not allowed to think about your home in Abyanabad anymore!" Sienna hooked an arm around his neck and said domineeringly.
"That place is our home too!"
"Alright, after Sabrina Johnson is sentenced, I’ll go back with you for a visit."
"Really?" Adrian hadn’t expected her to relent.
"Let’s take Madam Johnson with us. Something seems off about her lately."
"What’s wrong?"
"It’s nothing." Sienna shook her head, not wanting to discuss Pauline Briggs’s issues with Adrian. "Let’s talk about something else."
"Mm... when you asked me if I was willing to marry you, I really didn’t know that meant I would be the one marrying into a family. I just thought it was about two people getting married. I didn’t expect it to be me marrying into *your* family..."
"Sixth Master, do you regret it?"
"The only thing I’ve ever regretted in my life was letting you get away back then!"
Just as Sienna was about to speak, Adrian sealed her incessantly chattering mouth with a kiss. At this point, he didn’t want to chat with her; there were more important things to do.
On the redwood table lay the fair-skinned woman, her long hair like black silk fanned out across its surface, an enchanting, snow-like beauty. Yet Adrian could only look, not daring to taste.
"Adrian, are you alright?"
He definitely wasn’t! Adrian buried his face in her chest, feeling like he was about to explode. "If I had known, I would have come back a few days later."
Sienna got up, got dressed, and said, "If you’d come back a few days later, I wouldn’t want you anymore."
"You dare?" he playfully slapped her bottom.
After they both straightened their clothes, Sienna sniffed his and pinched her nose. "How many days has it been since you last showered?" she complained.
"How dare you complain about me? Wasn’t it because I rushed back as soon as possible to see you?"
"Go on, go take a shower. You stink," she said with exaggerated disgust.
Adrian leaned in, deliberately trying to gross Sienna out. "Oh, I forgot to tell you, I haven’t brushed my teeth for several days either. And I ate garlic on my way here..." He breathed out towards Sienna. "Smell it. Does it stink?"
Sienna’s mouth twitched. She gave Adrian a conflicted look as he burst out laughing. Sienna raised her foot as if to kick him.
"You did that on purpose!" He knew she had mild mysophobia and was deliberately grossing her out. Honestly, even if one didn’t have mysophobia, who could bring themselves to kiss someone who hadn’t brushed their teeth for days?
"Yes, I wanted to know how much you truly love me. What was that look just now... like you’d swallowed a fly? I’m your man; no matter how dirty or stinky I am, you’re not allowed to complain about me!"
"If I were the one who hadn’t brushed my teeth or showered for days, you wouldn’t be saying that."
"Even if you didn’t brush your teeth or shower for days, I wouldn’t care. See? It turns out I love you more."
These were all just twisted arguments to Sienna.
She said seriously, "Anyway, in the future, if you haven’t brushed your teeth, you absolutely cannot kiss me!"
"You’re my woman! I’ll kiss you however I want!"
Sienna was about to get truly angry, but Adrian didn’t dare to provoke her further. She was genuinely about to lose her temper, and he would be the one to suffer in the end.
"I was just kidding. I brushed my teeth."
Sienna was speechless.
"They say pregnancy makes a woman foolish for three years. I didn’t believe it before, but now I do. You’re usually quite a smart woman, but lately, you’ve become sillier and sillier, almost to the point of absurdity..."
Sienna was speechless again.
"Don’t talk. I want to kiss you!"
Sienna obediently closed her eyes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and offered her lips.
He kissed her passionately, devouring her tongue, her mouth. Sienna felt as if she were standing at the edge of a bottomless abyss, surrounded by pitch-black darkness. All her senses could only register the aura emanating from the man.
His hands were like a blazing fire, seeming to burn through her clothes, threatening to consume her whole being as they roamed freely.
"Adrian, please, hold back. Not now." With the last shred of her rationality, she stopped him. The man didn’t cease his caresses entirely but didn’t venture any further down.
"Mm," he murmured.
Adrian kissed her for a while longer before reluctantly pulling away.
"I’ll keep a tally. After you’ve ’unloaded your cargo,’ you’ll pay me back with principal and interest!"
"Alright!" she agreed readily, without any coyness.
Adrian felt a little thirsty, picked up the mug of lemon water, and took a sip. He then frowned. "Who made this for you? Why is it so sweet? It’s sickeningly sweet."
Sienna looked at the mug in Adrian’s hand, remembered she had also taken a sip moments ago, and laughed. "Who else could it be? Of course, it was made by the Sixth Master."
Adrian was speechless.
"They say pregnancy makes one foolish for three years. The Sixth Master isn’t even pregnant, so why has he become foolish too?"
Adrian was speechless again.
