Chapter 435: Chapter 436: Giving Women Tissue Paper to Wipe Tears
"Do you have something to say to me?" Kiki asked, taking the initiative.
Sienna Johnson swallowed the dragon fruit in her mouth, wiped the corner of her lips, and lowered her eyes, looking quite troubled. "A lot has been happening recently..."
"I heard about it," Kiki comforted her. "Don’t worry, those people will get what they deserve."
"Yes, they will get what they deserve," Sienna echoed, though she didn’t actually believe in retribution. If they weren’t punished one day, it would only mean she wasn’t strong enough.
"How did you get pregnant? Did Lucas Robertson force himself on you?" Sienna asked tactfully.
Kiki’s face turned red. "That night, I insisted on going home, but Lucas disagreed. I got angry and drank a lot of alcohol. We both got drunk, and then..."
"Things got out of hand after you both got drunk?"
Kiki’s face turned even redder, and she lowered her head. "Lucas said it was me... I... I forced him... I..."
Sienna stared at her blankly. "You believed him?"
Kiki nodded. "That night... I really... I don’t remember clearly, but in the morning, we were in bed together, and then I found out I was pregnant."
"You didn’t use protection?"
"I didn’t think it would happen, not from just one time... It was just too coincidental..." Kiki twisted her clothes, her face flushed red, looking utterly adorable. Even Sienna felt a playful urge to nibble her cheek.
"So, what are you planning to do? Give birth to the child and raise it by yourself?"
Kiki was much like Sienna in that regard; once pregnant, she would never consider aborting the child, no matter how unworthy the father might be.
"I’m definitely going to give birth to the child..."
"What about Lucas?"
"We’ll go our separate ways!"
Sienna reminded her, "With Lucas’s character, he won’t let you raise the child and remarry."
"Then I won’t remarry. I’ll live with you and Curly forever..."
Sienna looked at Kiki’s shy gaze and couldn’t help but wonder if Kiki had developed feelings for her.
Sienna tried to reason with her, "Regardless of what happened between you and Samuel Palmer before, things have progressed to this stage. It’s not just about whether Samuel can accept you and another man’s child in your belly; you won’t even be able to get past Lucas himself. He was determined to have you, and now you’re carrying his child. If you don’t stay with Lucas, you’ll likely end up alone."
"Samuel and I are impossible. He deserves a better girl... I... I’m fine alone." Kiki had no plans for marriage.
Sienna played her trump card. She focused hard on her most tragic memories until her eyes welled up. The moment Kiki looked up, she was startled to see Sienna on the verge of tears.
"Sienna, what’s wrong?"
"Nothing, I just suddenly thought of my father..." Sienna looked at the dragon fruit in the fruit salad, her voice tinged with nostalgia. "My dad loved dragon fruit the most when he was alive. I would always cut it into pieces for him, and he could eat half a fruit in one go. Every time I saw him finish it all, I would be so happy..."
"I’ve always regretted not seeing my father for the last time... I can’t believe those people still won’t leave a dead person alone..."
"It’s all my fault. I’m useless. My father died because of me, and I’ve even let others desecrate his memory!"
Kiki’s eyes reddened too. "It’s not your fault. Those people are the wicked ones. The police will definitely catch them."
Sienna pretended to wipe non-existent tears from the corners of her eyes and said, her voice laced with sorrow, "The police just take their pay and do nothing. It’s been several days, and they still haven’t found anything. I suppose the case will just be closed quietly... After all, it’s not a major one."
"Isn’t Lucas good at investigating?" Kiki suggested. "You should ask him."
"I did ask Lucas for help, but..." Sienna trailed off, looking troubled.
"What happened?"
"He refused to help me."
Kiki blinked. "Why? Wasn’t he always the one who handled these matters before?"
"Because of you. He said that since you’re pregnant, he’s too worried about you to leave your side, so he can’t work for me anymore. He wants to be with you every day."
This time, Kiki’s face flushed red with anger. "How could he be like that!"
"As the saying goes, ’To help is a kindness, not an obligation.’" Sienna said, dabbing at her reddened eyes again while sneaking a glance at Kiki. "It’s not wrong for Lucas to refuse to help me; after all, I’m no one special to him."
"But you saved his life! How can he be so ungrateful! I’m going to find him!" Kiki’s sense of justice flared, and she looked ready to march off and give Lucas a piece of her mind. Sienna lowered her head, hiding the smile that tugged at the corners of her lips.
After Kiki left, Sienna raised her head. She picked at the fruit Kiki had prepared for her and murmured softly, "Kiki, life rarely goes as planned. Since things are impossible between you and Samuel, perhaps you should try to accept Lucas..."
"One must strive for happiness in life, not wallow in misery!"
Sienna genuinely wished for Kiki’s happiness.
Kiki and Lucas didn’t live together. Lucas lived in the front yard, while Kiki stayed with Sienna in the back yard.
Lucas had just changed his clothes and was about to go out when he saw Kiki storming in angrily.
"Kiki? Why are you here?" Lucas was overjoyed.
Kiki had been avoiding him, unwilling to even see him. What on earth had Sienna done to make Kiki come looking for him on her own initiative?
"Lucas! You..." She angrily pointed at the man in front of her and scolded, "Are you even human?"
Lucas was utterly confused. "What did I do?"
Kiki wasn’t good at arguing. Faced with Lucas, the words caught in her throat. And so, Kiki, feeling utterly "useless" at that moment, hadn’t even managed to properly scold Lucas before she burst into tears of anger.
Lucas was at a loss. "What’s wrong? Who bullied you? Don’t cry, tell me who it is, and I’ll avenge you!"
He clumsily tried to wipe her tears with his sleeve. Kiki recoiled, exclaiming angrily, "Are you that poor? You don’t even have a handkerchief? And if not a handkerchief, at least a tissue! Using your sleeve—it’s filthy! Are you trying to make me get an eye infection on top of crying myself to death?"
Lucas took some toilet paper from the bathroom, tore off a piece, and tried to wipe Kiki’s tears, but she dodged him and cried even harder.
"What on earth happened?" Lucas held the toilet paper and stood there helplessly, looking utterly silly.
"Lucas, how did your Fiancee ever fall in love with you?"
She must have been blind to fall for such a crude man.
"Why are you crying? Who is bullying you?"
"You! It’s you who’s bullying me!"
"When did I bully you?"
