Chapter 427: Chapter 428: Gained and Lost

"Samuel Palmer, he..."

Adrian Desmond confessed, "I brought Samuel Palmer in."

Kiki got a definite answer from Adrian Desmond and felt a little sad. She had thought her encounter with Samuel Palmer was the most romantic thing, but...

"So, did Sixth Master promise him anything? Did he like me only because Sixth Master promised him something?" Kiki wanted to know the answer yet was afraid to find out.

Her only love in this life had come to an abrupt end.

"...Is it all fake?"

Actually, Lucas Robertson had already told her about Samuel Palmer’s situation, but she still wanted to ask for clarification since she had developed feelings for Samuel Palmer.

She couldn’t believe that their love was fake.

"I did find him and asked him to get close to you..."

Kiki’s eyes reddened, and she complained, "Is it true? How could Sixth Master do such a thing?"

"Kiki, I didn’t mean to hurt you! The reason I did this was just to make Lucas Robertson unhappy."

Lucas Robertson couldn’t help saying, "Sixth Master, your narrow-mindedness is not like that of an Abyanabad man!"

"You abducted my wife for four years, and my revenge on you is already very kind. Otherwise, do you think you’d be able to eat breakfast here with all your limbs intact?" Adrian Desmond retorted sarcastically.

"Why don’t you reflect on why Miss wanted to run away in the first place?"

The two men faced each other, daggers drawn.

Kiki interrupted their conversation, asking, "What did Sixth Master give Samuel Palmer to make him agree to marry me?"

"I didn’t give Samuel Palmer any benefits to marry you. He wanted to marry you because he liked you. I know what you’re worried about; you think Samuel Palmer’s feelings for you are fake. Although I was the one who asked Samuel Palmer to get close to you, I didn’t just find any random person. Samuel Palmer is a good man; his temperament is similar to yours. I can guarantee that you’ll be very happy if you marry him!"

Kiki was speechless.

"Samuel Palmer truly loves you; he’s been having a hard time since you left..."

Lucas Robertson, afraid that Adrian Desmond would reveal more about Samuel Palmer and make it difficult for Kiki to let go, interrupted Adrian Desmond and argued, "What happiness can a man with ulterior motives bring to Kiki?"

Adrian Desmond argued back, "That’s still better than a man like you who only forces women!"

"Speaking of forcing women, Sixth Master, you are even more skilled!"

Adrian Desmond narrowed his eyes, staring at Lucas Robertson, his gaze dangerous.

Kiki suddenly stood up and went out, with Curly following her in confusion.

"Lucas Robertson, if you dare to disrespect me again, don’t blame me for being rude!" Adrian Desmond warned.

Lucas Robertson used to be fearless, but now that he had a wife and child, he had many more concerns. Knowing Adrian Desmond’s strength, Lucas Robertson didn’t confront him head-on but softened his stance. "Sixth Master, I sincerely like Kiki, and I hope that you can help us."

Seeing his attitude had softened considerably, Adrian Desmond wasn’t as angry as before. "As long as you don’t provoke me, I won’t interfere with your affairs with Kiki."

"Thank you, Sixth Master."

Adrian Desmond not interfering was already a great help to him. If another Samuel Palmer appeared, he couldn’t take it.

"Sixth Master, may I ask where Samuel Palmer has gone?"

"Aren’t you amazing? What information is there that you can’t find?"

Lucas Robertson fell silent.

"He’s back in Abyanabad!"

Adrian Desmond said this and left.

Lucas Robertson silently stared at the food on the table, lost in thought. Although Kiki was pregnant with his child, their relationship remained very tense, and Kiki didn’t even want to look at him.

He picked up the bowl and drank the porridge Kiki had cooked with her own hands, devouring all the remaining food.

Kiki walked out hand in hand with Curly, only to see Lucas Robertson waiting in front of the car. Kiki’s smile vanished instantly upon seeing him.

"I’ll give you a ride."

"No need. We have a driver at home. You go take care of your affairs," Kiki refused.

Lucas Robertson chuckled self-deprecatingly. "What could I be busy with? Miss doesn’t like me now, and she won’t assign me any work."

Lucas Robertson carried Curly into the car, placed her in a child safety seat, and buckled her up.

Kiki had no choice but to get in the car too. They took Curly to kindergarten, and Kiki watched her walk in, still gazing at her.

During my absence, Curly had lost her lively nature. It was my fault.

Seeing Kiki staring at Curly, her reluctance to part obvious, Lucas Robertson said, "We’ll have our own child soon."

"Even if we have our own child, Curly will still be my favorite!" Kiki snapped.

"The weather is nice today. Let me take you shopping," Lucas Robertson tried to change the subject.

"I want to go home."

"We could buy a house near the Johnson Family," Lucas Robertson asked tentatively.

Now that he and Kiki were married, they formed a small family. He hoped Kiki would focus on him and their child, not Sienna Johnson and Curly. So, he really wanted to move out.

"That’s your business."

"Kiki, we’re married! I’m your man!" Lucas Robertson said angrily, hating her cold and distant demeanor.

"Lucas Robertson, please take me home!"

Lucas Robertson took out a card from his pocket and handed it to Kiki. She glanced at the bank card, didn’t take it, and turned to look at the plane tree outside the car window.

"I opened a bank account for you here. Take it and spend it as you please. Although I’m not a rich man, I can provide you with a comfortable life. You don’t have to save money; just spend it however you want..."

"Thank you, but Sienna Johnson pays me well. I’ve saved a lot over the years and can support myself."

Lucas Robertson said angrily, "You’re married to me; you don’t need to work."

"Sienna Johnson once told me: ’Don’t rely on others because they can leave anytime. Women must rely on themselves!’ Even if I’m married, I won’t let a man support me."

"Sienna Johnson, Sienna Johnson, can’t you have your own opinions?"

"Fine!" Kiki looked at Lucas Robertson, her eyes steady, and said, enunciating each word, "Lucas Robertson, I want a divorce!"

"Impossible!"

"Then we have nothing more to discuss!"

Their relationship had hit a deadlock. Lucas Robertson really hadn’t expected Kiki, who was usually gentle and seemingly weak-willed, to have such a strong side. At least, when it came to him, Kiki was stubborn. When in love, she had bravely confessed. When rejected, she could turn away without hesitation and immerse herself in a new love, forgetting him completely. If he had possessed half the courage Kiki had in dealing with relationships, he and Kiki wouldn’t have ended up like this.
