Chapter 397: Chapter 398: Moving Back to the Johnson Family
"Grandma, people like Sabrina Johnson only care about themselves. They use and hurt anyone they can. It’s not surprising that she would do something like this."
When Sabrina Johnson slandered him so maliciously, even trying to frame Dexter Johnson, Sienna Johnson had already stopped holding any benevolent assumptions about her sister.
Knowing that Madam Johnson was a devout Buddhist, Sienna continued to console her, saying, "As they say, ’What goes around comes around.’ Heaven is watching. Sabrina will face retribution!"
"She’s heartless and ungrateful. If she doesn’t get her retribution, then the heavens must be blind!"
"I’ll make her pay!"
Madam Johnson’s heart ached. "...My son is dead, yet she still dares to slander him like this! My poor heart..." The old lady pounded her chest, looking as if she were in unbearable pain.
"Grandma, I’ll clear my father’s name. I’ll make sure everyone sees Sabrina Johnson’s true face!"
"Sienna, you must let everyone know that girl, Sabrina, is lying! You can’t let your father carry such a vile accusation even in death!"
"...My son lived an upright life, and now, even after death, he’s being framed like this... That wretched girl must think a dead man can’t talk, so she dares to pin any vicious thing on my son! And I, this old woman, can do nothing... I’m so useless. I might as well be dead."
"Grandma, Dad is gone, and he can’t speak for himself. Sabrina is banking on the fact that with him dead, her claims are irrefutable, and no one can touch her. Since Dad can’t defend himself, we’ll have to find evidence from Sabrina..."
Madam Johnson stopped crying and asked excitedly, "Sienna, what do you mean?"
"Sabrina claimed she had been abused since she was 12 years old, right? All I need to do is prove that she was still a virgin at 12, 13, 14... and her lies will fall apart on their own."
"That’s a good idea, but how can we prove such a thing?"
Sienna laughed coldly. "...If she dares to make such baseless accusations, then I can fabricate things that seem even more real than the truth!"
To deal with such a woman, there’s no need for fair and just means. Sabrina Johnson doesn’t deserve it!
「The Johnson Residence.」
With Madam Johnson and Pauline Briggs in emotional turmoil and the family in chaos, Sienna temporarily set aside her grudge with Pauline. The family moved back to the Briggs Family’s house.
After this incident, Pauline became much more subdued. Immersed in grief, she paid little attention to anyone else. Adrian Desmond and Sienna, at least, had much more peace and quiet.
The entire Johnson Family was shrouded in a dark cloud, and if not for Curly’s laughter, it would have felt like a haunted house.
"Auntie..."
Samara was doing her homework when Curly entered her room without knocking. Seeing Curly, Samara finally smiled.
"Curly, why aren’t you asleep yet?"
"I can’t sleep." Curly, wearing Mickey pajamas and holding a teddy bear, jumped barefoot onto Samara’s bed.
"How about I tell you a story?" Samara asked.
"I don’t like fairy tales." Curly was very picky. She rolled around on Samara’s soft bed.
Samara’s room was clean and tidy, with everything in its designated place. She gathered her books from the desk, sorted them, and put them into her schoolbag. The bag had an empty compartment just right for her thermos.
"...Auntie, everyone’s been talking about Grandpa lately. They say he liked little girls... Is liking little girls bad? Why does everyone look so strange when they talk about it... Like..."
Samara’s face flushed red with shame and anger. She demanded angrily, "Who told you that?"
"Everyone’s saying it..."
"Auntie, are you angry? Why are you angry?"
Samara, much like Pauline, had a gentle nature. She couldn’t stop herself from crying, which scared Curly.
"Auntie, why are you crying?" Curly climbed down from the bed and pulled Samara’s clothes. "Don’t cry, I won’t talk about Grandpa liking little girls anymore."
Hearing this, Samara’s crying grew even more intense. She buried her face in her desk and sobbed loudly. Curly panicked and ran out of the room, heading straight for her parents’ bedroom.
Curly had a bad habit of entering people’s rooms without knocking. Adrian and Sienna had been caught by their daughter several times during their ’private moments’, so now they remembered to lock the door.
"Dad... Mom... Open the door! Hurry up!" Curly banged on her parents’ bedroom door.
Adrian said, "Curly, it’s late, you should go to sleep."
"Dad, open the door!"
"Curly, you’re a big girl now. You need to sleep on your own. You can’t sleep with Mom anymore!" Adrian wasn’t being selfish and trying to monopolize his wife. Sienna was pregnant, and Curly was a restless sleeper. What if she accidentally kicked Sienna’s stomach and harmed the pregnancy?
Curly slept like she was in a battle, kicking this way and that. It was too dangerous to think about.
No, Adrian told himself. He absolutely could not give in.
"Dad, hurry up and open the door! Auntie is crying..."
"Mom... Auntie is crying! Please go and see her..."
Sienna had just fallen asleep. A light sleeper, she woke up as soon as Curly yelled. Adrian looked at his wife with concern and said, "That Curly is too much. You’d only just managed to fall asleep."
Sienna sat up and asked, "What did Curly just say? I thought I heard her say Samara is crying?"
"Mom, Auntie is crying!" KNOCK! KNOCK! Curly sounded like she was about to wake everyone in the house.
Sienna pushed Adrian and said, "Open the door! You know your daughter’s temper! She won’t stop until she gets her way. If you don’t open the door tonight, she’ll keep knocking all night."
Adrian resignedly went to open the door. The moment it opened, a small bundle of energy darted in, making a beeline for Sienna on the bed.
"Curly, your mom is pregnant!" Adrian quickly chased after her, grabbing her pajamas and lifting her up just as she was about to climb onto the bed.
Adrian scolded her, "What did Dad tell you? I told you, Mom is pregnant, and you’re not allowed to jump on her. Why can’t you remember that?"
Curly kicked her chubby legs, saying anxiously, "Auntie’s crying! Mom, Auntie is crying so sadly!"
"Did you bully Auntie?"
Curly shook her head vigorously. "Curly didn’t bully Auntie!"
"Then why is Auntie crying?"
Curly scratched her head and said, "I just told Auntie that Grandpa liked little girls, and then she started crying."
