Chapter 368: Chapter 369: An Old Cow Eats Tender Grass

"You’ve been through so much, Honey," Adrian Desmond murmured, his heart aching for her.

Sienna Johnson said bravely, "As long as the baby is fine, I can handle a few more shots."

If she had any more, he’d feel the pain too. His heart truly ached for her.

"I never imagined this child would be so troublesome," Adrian Desmond said, a mix of love and exasperation in his voice as he looked at what Sienna Johnson had endured. "When he’s born, I’m definitely going to give him a good spanking. Look at the state this baby has put you in!"

"Don’t try to scare him. Didn’t you hear the doctor? He said our baby is working very hard to develop right now. Our little one is a strong, good child..." Sienna’s hand gently caressed her still-flat abdomen, her eyes filled with a new maternal strength. Adrian couldn’t bring himself to say anything more; he just felt a deep pang of sympathy for her.

"Baby, what do you say, hmm?"

Sienna answered her own question. "Adrian, he just said yes."

Adrian found Sienna’s earnestness rather endearing. The usually sharp and cunning Sienna Johnson actually had this side to her; it was quite cute.

「After the prenatal check-up」

They didn’t go straight home. Sienna’s body needed to recover, so they went to their apartment in the Dragon Court Residence Complex first, allowing her to rest for a while before they headed out again.

They lived in a mid-rise building, but unfortunately, the elevator was broken. Since their apartment was on the twelfth floor, Sienna definitely couldn’t walk all the way up.

"I’ll carry you," Adrian offered.

"No, don’t. It’s twelve floors!"

"Even if it were twenty-two, I could still carry you up."

Adrian gently scooped Sienna into his arms. "Hold on tight to my neck," he said.

"Mhm."

And so, Adrian carried Sienna up the stairs. He held her securely, ascending steadily. The stairwell had motion-sensor lights that flickered on as they passed. Sienna gazed at his face, then rested her head in the crook of his neck.

Twelve floors really weren’t a challenge for Adrian Desmond. He reached their door without even breathing heavily. Sienna felt so light in his arms, almost uncomfortably so. If she lost any more weight, she’d become ethereal.

"I really need to fatten you up a bit," Adrian said with a serious expression.

"Okay," Sienna agreed.

They opened the door and stepped into the quiet apartment.

Adrian had hired Auntie Agatha to clean regularly, so the place was neat and tidy. He helped Sienna onto the sofa and said, "Eat something, then get some sleep." He worried she might refuse to eat again, so he invoked the doctor’s advice.

"The doctor said you need to replenish your nutrients. Even if you don’t feel like it, you have to eat more, understand?"

"Okay."

Adrian set out the food he’d brought on the table. It was all of Sienna’s favorites: soft, sticky lotus seed porridge, pine nut cakes, and a few small side dishes. Perhaps because she was in a good mood, Sienna ate quite a bit this time—half a small bowl of porridge, a whole pine nut cake, and even a piece of regular cake.

Seeing Sienna eat so much made Adrian overjoyed.

"You ate a lot today. That’s good," he praised.

Sienna felt a wave of nausea, but Adrian quickly gave her half a glass of tart lemon water, which helped settle her stomach.

"One of my former assistants used to take leave every few days after she got pregnant," Sienna recalled. "I used to think she was being overly dramatic. How could pregnancy be such a big deal? When I was pregnant with Curly, I was uncomfortable, sure, but it was completely bearable. But with this baby... now I truly understand how awful pregnancy can feel."

Adrian kissed her forehead. He knew this pregnancy was very hard on her and didn’t say much, simply expressing his feelings with that tender gesture.

"Don’t worry too much. I’ll be fine," she reassured him.

"You should get some sleep."

"Mhm."

All Sienna wanted to do now was lie down; even sitting felt exhausting. Adrian carried her into the bedroom and gently placed her on the bed.

It was Ferguson’s room. The curtains hadn’t been drawn, and the quilt, warmed by the sun, carried the faint, comforting scent of sunshine.

Sienna drifted off to sleep quickly. Adrian sat beside the bed, listening to her mumble a few indistinct words in her sleep, and reached out to touch her feet.

They were ice-cold. Adrian gently cupped them in his warm palms. Then, he lay down beside Sienna and carefully drew her into his embrace. His own body wasn’t particularly warm, but it was enough to soothe Sienna, who seemed to be troubled by nightmares.

Sienna snuggled lightly against Adrian. She briefly opened her eyes, then closed them again, sinking back into sleep. Truthfully, she had been vaguely aware of Adrian getting into bed. But the warmth seeping into her feet brought her a sense of peace, and she felt secure.

「Meanwhile, after leaving the hospital」

Sabrina Johnson was forcibly pushed into Master Leland’s car by two bodyguards in black suits. She glared at the man sitting opposite her and snapped, "What exactly do you want?"

She spoke with disgust, not even wanting to spare Master Leland a glance. His face alone made her feel nauseous.

"I want you to divorce Frederick Stewart and marry me."

Sabrina Johnson let out a series of cold laughs. "Marry *you*?"

"Yes."

"..."

"Marry me, and I’ll cherish you. At the very least, I won’t keep other women on the side..."

Sabrina Johnson’s laughter grew louder. "I’d actually prefer it if my husband kept mistresses! If he’s out there with other women, it at least proves he’s young and good in bed. Unlike you, Master Leland—you’re old enough to be my grandfather! Who knows what day you’ll just keel over and die?"

"You little spitfire. So young," Master Leland remarked, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Exactly! So please, Master Leland, do me a favor and let me go. An old ox like you trying to graze on tender grass—aren’t you afraid of breaking your teeth?" Sabrina Johnson said with a dismissive air.

"Frederick Stewart’s company is in serious financial trouble. If my guess is correct—and it usually is—he’ll be bankrupt very soon. If you stay with a man like that, you’ll only suffer."

"That’s my business." Sabrina Johnson did have feelings for Frederick; otherwise, she wouldn’t have schemed so hard to marry him in the first place.

"And the child? What are your plans for the child?"

"Of course, I’m going to have it. Frederick wants a child so badly. He’ll be overjoyed when he finds out I’m pregnant."

Master Leland chuckled. "Why bother lying to me? He doesn’t give a damn about the child in your womb. Not only does he not care, but the Stewart Family doesn’t care either."

"Sabrina, with a man like that, with a family like that, what on earth are you still clinging to?"

"You! Shut up!" Sabrina Johnson roared at Master Leland.

The bodyguards were taken aback by this audacious woman. Who would dare tell Master Leland to shut up? They surreptitiously glanced at their boss, only to find that not only was he not angry, but he was actually smiling.

What in the world was going on?

"I just love your feisty spirit!" Master Leland declared.

"You old coot! Forget any idea of me ever liking you!"

With that, she forcefully shoved the car door, trying to get out. Master Leland signaled the Driver to pull over and let Sabrina Johnson out.

Sabrina Johnson couldn’t bear to be with Master Leland for another moment. The car had barely come to a complete stop when she threw open the door and stormed off, not giving him a backward glance.

Master Leland watched Sabrina Johnson’s resolute, departing figure, his eyes growing dark and somber.

That woman was so young. Her youth only served to emphasize his own age. He truly wished he could be ten-odd years younger; at his current age, it was difficult to win a young girl’s heart.

"Sabrina," Master Leland vowed, his voice filled with an unwavering resolve, "I will make you come back to my side!"
