Chapter 313: Chapter 314: Enjoying the Process of Love

"Sienna, you need to learn to enjoy life."

Adrian Desmond didn’t agree with Sienna Johnson’s work attitude. In his opinion, while work was important, enjoying life was paramount. He considered those who prioritized work above all else, constantly busying themselves, to be the most foolish.

"When I’m as rich as you, I’ll learn to enjoy life."

"In that case, you’ll never truly enjoy life in this lifetime."

Sienna was unconvinced. "Life is long. How can you be so sure that I won’t end up making more money than you one day? Given your extravagant and indulgent ways, you’re bound to squander all your earnings eventually."

Adrian Desmond was truly profligate. His spending habits were on a completely different level; he demanded the absolute best in food, clothing, shelter, and transport. He found the water in Sileria City unpalatable, even going as far as to air-freight water from Swestein. A single 500-milliliter bottle of Lebensborn mineral water cost 45 Westorian dollars. Sienna had tasted it too; the water was undeniably good, very sweet, but absurdly expensive.

"The money I earn is enough to last several lifetimes of extravagance."

Sienna looked up at him. "Just how much money do you actually have?"

"A lot. I don’t know the exact amount because my wealth keeps growing every day..."

"Adrian, what kind of businesses are you involved in?"

"Transportation, armaments, entertainment venues, casinos... Nowadays, though, I focus on ventures I actually enjoy. I’m planning to build a farm in Sileria City, fill the ponds with lotus flowers, and raise some thoroughbred horses... We can go when you have a break. The air quality in Sileria City is truly terrible..."

Being so wealthy allowed him to be truly capricious. Adrian had even promised Curly he would build her an amusement park...

Sienna, engaged in legitimate business, could never hope to make money as rapidly as Adrian. He operated in extremely lucrative sectors. His arms dealing alone was something she could never aspire to match.

Suppressing a wave of dejection, Sienna put down her chopsticks. Picturing the farm, she said, "Could you set aside a plot of land for my mom? She’s always wanted to grow her own vegetables."

"Alright."

"What about you? Besides lotus flowers, what other flowers do you want to plant in the garden?"

"Instead of flowers, I’d rather cultivate medicinal herbs."

"You woman, all you think about is money!"

After dinner, at Adrian’s insistence, they went to see a movie.

Sienna had never been in a romantic relationship before. Although she longed for the typical dating experience, she was unsure how ordinary couples actually dated.

They bought popcorn and found seats in the sparsely filled movie theater. They had chosen a rather obscure film—an adaptation of a true Westorian crime story titled "Chainsaw Killer."

It was gruesome and violent; the sound of chainsaws cutting into bodies filled the air. Young girls in the audience screamed and hid in their boyfriends’ embraces.

Adrian noticed this. He glanced at the woman beside him, who was calmly eating popcorn, completely unfazed. Then, he looked down at his own empty arms. Next time, I’ll choose an even more gruesome and terrifying film. I refuse to believe I can’t scare her!

In the film, the killer sawed off one of the man’s limbs each day, tormenting him in this manner. Sienna couldn’t watch any longer and remarked professionally, "This movie is completely unscientific."

"Hmm?"

"Human limbs have countless blood vessels. If an arm is sawed off, the main artery will also be severed. Main arteries are much more active than veins, which is why such injuries cause profuse bleeding.

"Generally, blood will clot at a small wound. However, if the wound is too large, the bleeding won’t stop, and the person will lose consciousness from excessive blood loss. Without timely rescue, they will die.

"That man’s arm was sawed off. Such a large wound wouldn’t clot on its own. If the bleeding isn’t stopped promptly, it will continue unabated.

"A person’s total blood volume is about eight percent of their body weight. For instance, if a person weighs 15 kilograms, their blood volume is 1.2 kilograms, corresponding to about 600 milliliters, with plasma accounting for more than half. With such a massive wound, he couldn’t possibly survive until the next day. He would bleed to death in about three hours. Therefore, the storyline where they saw off his right arm on the second day, his left leg on the third, and his right leg on the fourth is utterly impossible."

Sienna laid out her points methodically. Adrian’s expression darkened as he listened. He’d forgotten that the woman by his side was a medical student who had likely dissected countless corpses. How could she possibly be scared by a movie like this? What a miscalculation!

"It’s a pity you didn’t become a doctor, Miss Johnson."

"Yes, I think so too."

"..."

Sienna said regretfully, "I studied medicine for five years, and you’re the only patient I’ve ever treated."

"Should I feel honored?"

"Haha..."

"..."

"If you get injured again, I’ll treat you for free. No charge."

"Sienna, can’t you, just once, hope for something good for me?"

"Alright."

Adrian said, clearly unresigned, "Can’t you just hide in a man’s arms like those other women?"

Sienna took a sip of her juice, glanced at the young girls in front of them, and blinked. She felt that such an interaction wasn’t really for them.

"Adrian, our daughter is already in kindergarten. Those couples are all so young. Of course, they’re different from us; we’re practically an old married couple."

"That’s true!"

The dim lighting of the movie theater was perfect for mischief. Adrian thought, Since Sienna doesn’t seem to go for the innocent act, let’s try something different. And so, the Sixth Master decided to make his move.

"Stop messing around, it still hurts," she said coquettishly.

Adrian pulled her close and kissed her. When men and women went to the movies, their true intentions often lay elsewhere... Sienna, too, enjoyed kissing in this kind of atmosphere and responded readily to Adrian.

He advanced, she yielded. When she retreated, he pursued.

Her lips were a beautiful, pale pink—soft, smooth, and exceptionally sweet. Adrian swallowed unconsciously. Even after all these years, he still vividly remembered the feeling of kissing her. She disliked wearing makeup, so his kisses weren’t met with the greasy lipstick most women wore. Between their lips, the taste was smooth and enticing, always carrying a faint, lingering fragrance that he couldn’t get enough of.

Simply kissing her like this was enough to satisfy him.

The movie ended, and the lights suddenly flickered on, startling the two from their passionate kiss. Sienna immediately pushed Adrian away. As their lips parted, a thin, silvery strand of saliva connected them for a moment. Her face flushed slightly. Adrian reached out and gently wiped the trace of moisture from the corner of her mouth.

"I had a great time today," Adrian said.

"..."

"Sienna, can we always be like this?" Adrian held her hand, and they walked out of the theater hand in hand.

Adrian’s leg injury hadn’t fully healed, so he still limped slightly when he walked, which somewhat marred his handsome appearance.

"Sure."

He longed for happiness, and so did Sienna. If things could always be like this, she thought it would be wonderful.

"Look, that beautiful woman is with a cripple!"

"What a pity! It’s like a beautiful flower stuck in cow dung."
