Chapter 309: Chapter 310: She Wants to Be a Man in Her Next Life
"No way."
"What did you say?" He suddenly clenched his fists, staring at her, his face filled with threat.
"In my next life, I want to be a man, an Abyanabad man at that. I also want to marry ten or eight wives..." Sienna Johnson looked at Adrian Desmond, a roguish expression on her face. "You look pretty good. I think I’ll make you my first wife."
"How dare you!"
Seeing his heart rate return to normal, Sienna sighed in relief. But then, dissatisfied, she said, "You’re so selfish. If I want to marry ten or eight men, you won’t agree, but it’s fine if you do it."
"When did I ever think of marrying ten or eight? I only want to marry you."
"Then what about Melanie Carpenter?"
"Melanie Carpenter is the fiancée my parents arranged for me. Her parents passed away, and it was because of my family. Now she has no one to rely on. What am I supposed to do? Abandon her? She’s not you. You’d be fine even if you left me..." After speaking, he didn’t forget to glare fiercely at her.
Sienna couldn’t bear to hear these words and turned her back to him. "Yeah, how could the Sixth Master be someone so disloyal and unrighteous? You should hurry back to Abyanabad and live a good life with Melanie Carpenter."
"What are you making a fuss about now?"
"The Sixth Master wants to be a man of his word. I’m just helping you achieve that!" She looked at the lush, tall tree outside the window, her heart filled with resentment towards Adrian Desmond.
"What else wouldn’t you dare to do!"
Sienna remained silent.
"Turn around and look at me!"
Still, Sienna said nothing.
"Did you hear me?"
Sienna ignored him. She hated his tone and the things he said. So, Melanie Carpenter was a responsibility he couldn’t shirk? If that was the case, he should bear it himself. Why drag her into it?
"You’re rebelling..." Adrian started to get out of bed to grab her.
Hearing a faint rustling, Sienna turned and saw him actually trying to get out of bed. She had been thoroughly frightened by him today. "What are you doing?"
She walked over and stopped him. "The doctor said you need to rest properly. You can’t get out of bed! Lie back down, quickly."
Adrian stared at her.
"Your wounds will tear open..."
"Who told you to ignore me?"
So now it was her fault? "When did I ignore you?"
He glared at her and suddenly asked, "Where’s the phone?"
Sienna handed Walter Klein’s phone to him. Her own phone had been ruined the day before after it got soaked in the swimming pool, so she had just borrowed Walter’s to call Kiki.
"Call that pretty boy and tell him you’re not going to marry him!"
Adrian was worried about this. Delays could bring complications; it was crucial to crush that pretty boy’s hopes as soon as possible.
"I don’t know his phone number."
"Who are you kidding? Given your relationship, how could you not know his number?"
Adrian looked at Sienna with dissatisfaction. This woman! Once the wound healed, she forgot the pain. She had completely forgotten what she’d promised him last night.
"Stop playing dumb with me. I remember clearly what you promised me yesterday. Call that pretty boy right now!"
Sienna took a deep breath and said suddenly, "Kiki’s speed dial is 1, Lucas Robertson’s is 2, and Noah Phillips’ is 3. I can only remember speed dial numbers, and my phone was ruined by you yesterday when it got soaked in the pool."
The man clearly missed the point of her words. "My speed dial number doesn’t even rank in your top three?"
Sienna was speechless.
What a childish man! He had Walter Klein buy him a new phone, then set his Abyanabad number to speed dial 1 and his Sileria City number to speed dial 2.
He tossed the phone to her. "From now on, my speed dial numbers on your phone are 1 and 2! Got it?"
"You’re really a ’number 2’..."
Being from Abyanabad, Adrian naturally didn’t understand the rich connotations of the number "2" in Orienta.
"What’s wrong?"
"Nothing!"
Childish!
"I’m hungry," Adrian said.
"I’ll go get you some food. What do you want to eat?"
"I want to eat you!" Adrian looked at her hungrily, as if she were actual "food."
Sienna glared at him and said, "I’ll go get you some food."
Just as she stepped out of the hospital entrance, Sienna’s new phone rang. It was Lucas Robertson. Sienna knew Lucas must have something to tell her, so she quickly answered.
"Lucas?"
"It’s me."
"What happened? Why haven’t I heard from you in so long?" Sienna asked anxiously.
Lucas had been in Abyanabad for nearly half a month.
"I had some private matters to deal with in Abyanabad, so I was delayed." Lucas, a man of few words, explained briefly before getting to the point. "Miss, about Adrian Desmond, I checked. He did indeed divorce Melanie Carpenter."
Sienna felt a wave of relief. She was grateful Adrian hadn’t lied to her. Otherwise, given his ferocity last night, even if she were unwilling, she wouldn’t have been able to shake him off.
"Melanie Carpenter has a child named Devin Desmond, did you know?"
"I know. He’s not Adrian’s. He’s Melanie and Jule’s son."
Sienna trusted every word Lucas said implicitly. So, when Lucas confirmed this, she finally felt truly at ease.
She definitely didn’t want to be a stepmother to Adrian’s child.
"...If Devin isn’t Adrian’s son, I’m quite curious. Back then, Melanie was desperate to marry Adrian, acting as if he was her entire world. How could she end up having Jule’s child?" Sienna was very curious.
"It seems it was a drunken one-night stand."
"How is Melanie Carpenter now?"
"She has some mental health issues, but the Sixth Master has people secretly keeping an eye on her."
That Adrian Desmond was really too good to his cousin. Melanie had caused so much trouble—even cuckolding him and making him raise another man’s son—yet Adrian still couldn’t bring himself to be harsh with her.
"I heard from Kiki that you brought your deceased fiancée’s sister back with you?"
Sienna hadn’t met Mina, but the sister of a deceased fiancée—that identity was always too sensitive.
Lucas had admitted he liked Kiki, which made Mina’s presence even more intriguing. Sienna wouldn’t allow anyone to harm an innocent woman like Kiki.
"Why aren’t you speaking?"
"What does Miss want to hear?"
"Don’t you think that you, Mina, and Kiki... strongly resemble the situation with me, Adrian, and Melanie Carpenter four years ago?" Sienna said.
Lucas was a smart man; he understood Sienna’s meaning immediately. "Miss, I know what you mean. Rest assured, I won’t harm Kiki."
Sienna smiled. "When Kiki called a few days ago, she mentioned she was going to meet Samuel Palmer’s parents. It looks like good news for Kiki is on the horizon..."
