Chapter 963 - 933: A Bunch of Bored Troublemakers (Part 2)
Even though he was only looking at pictures, those pitiful kids still tugged at Adrian Desmond’s heart.
"Sienna Johnson talks about Orienta like it’s so great, so wonderful—see? Everywhere you go, there are places the sunlight can’t reach." Adrian sneered.
These photos were a brutal slap in Sienna Johnson’s face. If she weren’t pregnant, Adrian would’ve really liked to shove these pictures in front of her.
Orienta is anything but beautiful. Some parts of Orienta are darker than Abyanabad. At least Abyanabad doesn’t have illegal coal pits.
"These kids are too pathetic, aren’t they?" Marion said.
Marion and the others were orphans, raised on the base since they were little. Training on the base was brutal, but they didn’t abuse kids.
In Marion and the others’ eyes, the base was basically a militarized Orphanage.
Adrian asked, "Isn’t Orienta supposed to be a law-based society? None of the relevant agencies care?"
"This illegal coal pit was set up by the Village Secretary’s son. Village Secretaries are a pretty magical species—their power is huge, they’re almost on par with local armed gangs.
They’re local tyrants. These kids were all sold by their parents. People up top don’t want trouble, so they just turn a blind eye." Sabrina Conner explained to Adrian.
"Their parents can really bear to do that?"
"When there are too many kids at home, kids stop being worth anything.
Orienta enforces family planning, you’re only allowed to have one kid. These children don’t have household registration. In Orienta they’re basically undocumented ghosts—no school, no train, no bus, no plane...
If the police want to open a case, they first need a victim. But on the household registry these kids don’t exist, so they don’t count as people."
"Sold off by their own biological parents..." Adrian couldn’t wrap his head around it. Even if Sienna Johnson gave him 15 kids, he couldn’t bear to sell a single one.
"Orienta’s way darker than Abyanabad... I really don’t get it, why does Madam always think Abyanabad is dangerous when clearly Orienta is worse." Sabrina said, puzzled.
"My guess is she’s gone her whole life without seeing pictures like these." Adrian tossed the photos onto the table and dragged the topic back.
"Sell the Hopper Family to an illegal coal pit. Find the darkest, shadiest one there is, and make sure they never get out!" Adrian ordered.
"Sixth Master, what do you mean, the ’darkest’ illegal coal pit? Aren’t coal pits all the same kind of dark?"
After being around Sienna Johnson for so long, even when he was speaking Amwan Language, Adrian couldn’t help slipping into phrasing from Chinese.
"’Darkest’ means the worst conditions, the harshest place... Wherever the Hopper Family ends up, it needs to be the most miserable spot. Got it?" Adrian explained once.
Sabrina understood.
"Don’t bother with anything else these days. Clean up the Hopper Family. I don’t ever want to see them in front of me again!" Adrian ordered Sabrina.
"Heh, leave it to me, Sixth Master, you can relax." Sabrina accepted the job, delighted.
...
Urban village, the rental place where the Hopper Family lived,
"What are you doing?"
The sleeping members of the Hopper Family were suddenly bagged, towels stuffed in their mouths, tied up like a Rice Dumpling.
"Mmmf mmmf..."
"We’re missing one..." Five in the Hopper Family, but Ashley Hopper was missing.
"Search the area."
The men combed the neighborhood but never found Ashley. Dawn was about to break, so they had no choice but to give up and take the rest of the Hopper Family away first.
In a very ordinary van, the four members of the Hopper Family were tossed inside, all four of them whining and squirming on the floor like caterpillars.
"Stay still, or I’ll stab you to death!"
The Hopper Family immediately quieted down. Sabrina kicked them. "Got a death wish, do you? You dared kidnap our Sixth Master’s daughter. You really think we’re dead?"
"Mmmf mmmf..."
"Shut up!"
The Hopper Family, bullies of the weak and cowards before the strong, fell silent. Ashley Hopper was wearing a camisole nightgown, her pale thighs exposed.
Sabrina stared at those two white thighs and said, "You guys want a turn with this woman? She’s ugly, yeah, but it’s all the same down there. Bag over her head, you can’t see anything anyway."
"Sixth Master said we can’t rape women!"
Adrian’s men were all forbidden to rape women. There wasn’t a hard-and-fast written rule, but everyone followed it on their own.
After all, raping women isn’t exactly something to brag about.
"Sixth Master won’t see, and besides, didn’t Sixth Master rape Madam back then?"
The story about Adrian screwing Sienna Johnson until she bled out had somehow spread across the base. Back then, Sabrina and the others were still snot-nosed kids, right at the age when they were curious about the opposite sex.
Back then, the topic they discussed most was just how big Sixth Master’s dick actually was.
"Yeah but Sixth Master married Madam in the end. I’m not planning on marrying her. I’ve got my own hopes and dreams when it comes to love."
"Fuck!"
"No way! I like women!"
Sabrina: ...
...
Some nameless backwater you can’t even find on a map.
The mountain road was rough. There was even a stretch they had to walk. For Sabrina and the others it was nothing, but the Hopper Family suffered.
"Walk faster, stop dragging your feet. What are you, born under the sign of the turtle?" Sabrina cursed.
Marion cut in, "There’s no turtle in Orienta’s 12 Zodiacs."
"Then they’re born under the sign of the bastard turtle."
Marion sped up a few steps, putting some distance between them. Staying around Sabrina too long made him feel his IQ dropping.
On the third day, they finally reached that godforsaken place.
Because they hadn’t hidden their movements, they were quickly spotted. Sabrina and his crew were surrounded by more than a dozen men holding hunting rifles.
"Don’t shoot, we’re here to sell people." Sabrina shouted.
"Marion, their weapons are too outdated. Think we should sell them some guns later?"
"Don’t stir up trouble. Sixth Master told us to clean up the Hopper Family. Don’t stick your nose into anything else."
