The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress

Chapter 450 - 451: Master Leland Requests an Audience

Chapter 450 - 451: Master Leland Requests an Audience

Love makes people obsessed and easily corrupt. And so, the two of them spent the entire afternoon kissing.

Sienna Johnson looked in the small mirror at her swollen, chapped lips and fiercely glared at the culprit.

"It’s all your fault!"

"What did I do now?"

"Look at my lips! How can I face anyone?"

"We’re a legally married couple. Why shouldn’t we be able to face people?"

If I go out like this, I’ll become the laughingstock of the company. The group president indulging in daylight debauchery, kissing a man in the office until her lips are swollen... My hard-won image!

"I don’t have the nerve to face anyone." Sienna rested her head on the table like an ostrich burying its head in the sand, thinking that way she wouldn’t have to face the outside world.

"Don’t you have a private elevator? Just take it directly to the garage," Adrian said, laughing as he looked at her.

"Oh, right! How could I forget?"

Adrian loved her flustered, endearing look. He patted her head and smiled. "It’s true what they say—pregnancy brain lasts three years!"

"Adrian, don’t push it!" she gritted her teeth, annoyed, like a little wildcat starting to bristle.

"Let’s go get something to eat. I’m hungry, and I think you must be too."

"Mm," she agreed. Now that he mentioned it, she did feel a bit hungry.

Just as the two were about to gather their things and leave, there was a knock on the office door, but no one entered.

"What is it?" Sienna, not wanting anyone to see her "sausage lips," asked through the door.

"President Johnson, someone claiming to be Master Leland is here to see you," Vivian Abbey reported.

Sienna and Adrian exchanged glances. Why would Master Leland come to visit me? A thought suddenly struck Sienna, and her mind, which had been foggy, finally cleared.

"Adrian, the digging up of the Leland family’s graves... was that your doing?"

Adrian looked at her, surprised and impressed by her sharp intuition. "Yes."

Sienna felt a headache coming on. "Now that he’s shown up at my door, should I play dumb or just admit it?"

"Do whatever you want." Adrian didn’t take Master Leland seriously, but Sienna wasn’t as optimistic.

"Actually, I don’t really want a conflict with Master Leland. After all, he has connections... in certain circles. I’ve heard he’s very powerful and ruthless. The Johnson family are all legitimate businesspeople. If he really decides to target my family, I’ll be helpless to stop him," Sienna said, voicing her concerns.

"You’re my woman! You have every right to be as brazen as you like! Don’t worry about any of this. Just do whatever you want."

Sienna looked at Adrian, who looked back at her, his eyes full of indulgence. Sienna smiled. "I wonder what Master Leland is here for. He wouldn’t want to beat me up to vent his anger, would he?"

"You’ll find out when you see him."

"I’ll deal with whatever comes. Since he wants to see me, then I’ll see him."

"Vivian, let Master Leland come up."

"Yes!"

Adrian also stepped out. He returned with some ice cubes wrapped in a handkerchief for her to apply to her swollen lips. Sienna had only been pressing the cold compress to her mouth for a moment when Master Leland arrived, having taken the elevator up from downstairs.

Seeing Master Leland again, Sienna thought he had aged considerably and seemed to have lost much of his vitality.

Sienna remembered her grandmother’s words: When people get old, they live on by sheer spirit. Once that spirit is gone, death isn’t far off.

Master Leland had been running himself ragged recently trying to help Sabrina Johnson, pulling strings for her. It was because of his intervention that the verdict in her case had been delayed.

However, Sienna wasn’t worried. As long as Sabrina Johnson’s case remained unresolved, she wouldn’t be released on bail. Sabrina was still being detained, just not in a prison.

"What does Master Leland want with me?"

The two had already had a major falling out, so polite pleasantries were no longer appropriate.

Sienna didn’t even invite Master Leland to sit, adopting an attitude of: State your business and then leave. I don’t want to see you.

Master Leland, likewise, dispensed with politeness. He walked up to Sienna, and his bodyguard pulled out a chair for him.

"President Johnson, it’s been a while. You’re as radiant as ever!"

"What brings you here, Master Leland?"

The bodyguard sized up Adrian, who he perceived as the most dangerous person in the office. Adrian, meanwhile, sat beside Sienna, his gaze fixed on her.

"I trust you’ve seen the news. Our Leland family’s ancestral graves were desecrated," Master Leland said, his voice filled with anguish.

Sienna offered a perfunctory, "Master Leland, my condolences."

Hearing this, Master Leland glanced up at Sienna. She met his gaze briefly, then looked away, offering no further comment.

Essentially, the conversation consisted of Master Leland asking questions and Sienna giving brief answers. Beyond that, there was no further discussion.

"We’re both reasonable people, so I’ll get straight to the point. I want to ask you: where did you take the remains of my grandparents and parents?"

When Master Leland found out, he immediately sent people to collect the remains. However, they returned and reported that the remains could not be found.

The remains of other Leland family members were still there; only those of his direct ancestors were missing.

Master Leland was superstitious and believed that restless ancestors brought misfortune upon their descendants. Moreover, news came from the police station that Sabrina Johnson was bleeding and showing signs of a miscarriage. This further convinced Master Leland that his ancestors were angered and had withdrawn their protection from their descendants.

That was why Master Leland had swallowed his pride and come to plead with Sienna. "As the saying goes, it’s better to resolve animosity than to prolong it. In this kind of situation, it takes two to tango; we were in the wrong first. Now that this has happened, I can’t very well blame you excessively."

"I’m willing to pretend none of this ever happened, as long as you return my ancestors’ remains to me so I can give them a proper burial."

"Master Leland, I don’t know what you’re talking about."

Master Leland looked at the woman before him. I’ve humbled myself to this extent, and she still won’t give me any face?

"Young lady, it’s best to be forgiving when you can. You act so brazenly, offending people left and right. You won’t even know what hit you when your time comes," Master Leland threatened implicitly.

Sienna met Master Leland’s gaze with her beautiful eyes and said calmly, "Master Leland, I truly don’t know what you’re talking about."

"You..."

"Master Leland, it’s about time for me to head home from work. If there’s nothing else, please see yourself out." Sienna was, in effect, showing him the door.

Thinking of his ancestors’ missing remains, Master Leland took a deep breath, suppressed the fury in his heart, and said in a conciliatory tone,

"President Johnson, let’s not mince words. I know you had our Leland family’s graves dug up and my ancestors’ remains taken. I won’t pursue the matter any further. Just return my ancestors’ remains, and we’ll call it even!"
